Bike looks great in that livery! All the time and expense to take it back to the factory paint just to make it look worse would be a bitter pill to swallow. I would leave it as a period-correct custom that looks fantastic. Hopefully you can piece together the full history on the bike. Nice work, Grumble! -Tim

@@vpweber It certainly does - the matt black against the fluorescent orange on the nose cowling/top fairing is stunning - the whole bike is stunning. Chris seems like a man who doesn't live with regrets, but I think he'd regret re-painting that scheme. It also adds to the uniqueness - out of the 150 RSV Mille SPs there can't be many, if any, that have that particular paint scheme. It's close enough to the standard scheme, so it doesn't appear outlandish, and the gold wheels look fantastic. I'd leave it - I don't think that it can be improved - I'd love to see it.

Griff is a legend in his own right , take him up on his offer and film it for us. The road version and your SP comparison. I remember being given a ride on a full factory race team 851 Ducati back in the 90’s . I could still tell you exactly how it felt to ride nearly 30 years later. This is how Griff would feel about a ride on the SP, Some things just mean that much !!! Thanks for sharing such an awesome bike, great content.

I love this bike so much. On my 2000 RSV mille I had these pipes running and even the Arrow manifold for the street legal bikes (because the cosworth heads have different manifold mountings). Only the 2-2 connection to the mufflers were missing and I planned to let me make some, to be able to enjoy the real 2-2 sound and power. Unfortunatelly there was an accident distroying my plans.. The sound of these two pipes (Aprilia SP Titanium) is so good.. not even too loud, but so so deep and crisp! I am really happy for you to get such a good pick with this bike. Enjoy!

As a bit of a Aprilia nut having the RS125, 08 RSV1000R and all being well soon a RS250 along with a 98/99 Millie 1000 would complete the stable of these phenomenal bikes. Might have take a leaf out of the person you purchased this from and start keeping them in the front room. Who needs a sofa, bookshelves and a TV when all you want is a folding deck chair to admire these great bikes. 44Teeth, You boys smashed it out the park once again

It has a fully adjustable frame, a cosworth reworked engine, the frame number is right, the pipes are right so it's kosher then. What's with the wheels though? They don't look like the correct ones but that's ok as you can fit the standard brembo or lighter OZ wheels anyway. May have been intended to be tracked but never used? Engine looks different to the gen1s especially the heads. Standard it wasn't any more powerful BUT was left for the customer to tune. All they were untuned was around 105 to 110bhp rear wheel out of the crate. Tuned expect 125bhp rear wheel. Griff is deffo your man...he's a legend and no one touches my rsvr except Griff. Be aware that many parts are not available now for these so get pally with Alan Millyard who can make anything😉 Great find, great bike and a really fast appreciating classic...a true investment. Don't crash it on track!!!😁 This is the best bike you've never ridden Chris. I'm a complete rsv nut and bit of a nerd on them having ridden, owned and loved gen1 rsv bikes over the past 18 years and one like this hardly ever comes around mate. You really lucked out this time. Keep it, cherish it but ride it! I'm back in the fold having found a one off low miles rsvr from the same period. Won't be selling this one! Welcome to the club. That's two rare ones you have what with the Eddy Rep which I also had.

Just a tip when strapping the bike in your van, add one large (heavy duty) strap straight back from the rear wheel, in the event of a hard brake/accident it will stop it coming forward into the seats and potentially hurting you. Straps lose strength when not directly load in a straight line from the direction of force, the wider the angle the load effectively goes up so their effective load rating is massively reduced if that makes sense?

I recognise Griff! a mate was on his fireblade and his gear linkage came off near Tamworth Yamaha. Griff was driving by in some sort of American Low rider and took us to his workshop to knock something together for him to get home. lovely bloke.

I had one of the roads bikes back in 2000 and had it painted up in these very colours, along with the Aprilia challenge leathers and AXO RSV helmet. Kept the bike for 7 years and still regret selling it to this day. I met Troy Corser (along with all of the stars of the golden age of WSB inc Suzi Perry!!) at 2002 WSB at Brands when I had a VIP pass gifted to me and he signed a print that I still have of him riding the RSV at Laguna Seca. Please don't change the paint work it's a true icon of its time in this spec. You are a lucky man!!!

Stunning bike and Griff seems like a top bloke. It’s always good spending a day watching a master of their craft at work. You can see how passionate he is for these bikes. Cracking vid! 👍🏻

Looks bloomin lovely. Now get it some rubber and go enjoy it. Too many bikes like that sit about all their life when the joy is really in the ride.
