I don’t mean this to offend, but it’s really refreshing to see a trans content creator like yourself. I think you’re really relatable, and you should be commended for how open and progressive you are for so many controversial topics! Keep doing you boo 🎉

I understand the comment that was made, yes it’s a bit harsh in places but I do understand it. I’m from the uk, and my endocrinologist consultant admitted that I couldn’t get laser treatment on the nhs for severe hirsutism (extreme facial hair due to polysystic ovaries) because the amount of trans patients wanting it had skyrocketed. I’ll freely admit I was angry. I ended up having to write to the nhs board for my area and basically beg them to reconsider - I am still waiting for an answer, whereas my trans brother got laser treatment on the nhs within 4-5 months of being trans. So I can see where people can get angry about it. I suffered with excruciating periods for years and years and begged for a hysterectomy and was denied, only for me to end up needing an emergency hysterectomy at age 25. Now it does seem that trans men can get a hysterectomy done rather quickly. And for someone like myself that suffered from 11 to 25 it is difficult to understand and accept. I thoroughly enjoy your videos

I am going to post a general reply... but as your post speaks to it.... Here is what is at the heart of it.... not only trying to rate the "importance" but it seems trans related issues... even with those that support.... its seen more as a "do" you! As if any medical treatment for a trans-person, is considered cosmetic...It is just like those on a transplant list.. and how that list is based off of "NEED"... I think only a person with the dysphoria... really understands.... the need.... I think even those that are allies... do not truly understand the magnitude of "need"...

Here in the States, in Texas specifically, i was not allowed to get a hysterectomy without my hubby's permission. In case he wanted more kids 😂😂😂 Finally got my hysterectomy at 50. Full of tumors. On all my organs. Medical care is just ughhhhhh

Laser hair removal is NOT available on the NHS for trans people. Also, we are tax payers too. It is so irritating that we are treated as less important.

I am going to hop in here because the commentors are not listening/reading the comment. The issue is that we are not getting EQUAL treatment. She had to wait 14 YEARS to get a needed hysterectomy to save her life and make her life livable while a Trans man can get that surgery in a matter of months. Is it necessary for the Trans man, absolutely. They are BOTH in NEED of the hysterectomy. NEITHER should be made to wait over a decade to receive that help. The issue is that he just got a sign off from a doctor and out it came within a few months. She had to wait until her organ almost literally killed her after 14 years of excruciating pain to get it out. Why did she have to wait while he didn't? Why did she have to wait at all?

The issues I have with that comment, is that they went off half cocked, without doing any research. I'm not trans, but some surgeries I've had, I've paid for, even though I worked 43 years in the NHS. I totally get the dysphoria about hair loss, my menopause killed the thickness of my hair, and it really bothered me, plus I even lost most of my eyebrows! I had microblading on the eyebrows, and I'd previously said I'd never have that done!! It's just all so bloody expensive! I don't think you were harsh at all Alexis, and it's good to see how Liam is so protective of you 💖😍

I've had 4 different insurance providers over my years working and none covered cosmetic surgery. There aren't any (that I've found) Liam's in America! After my divorce, I've decided to stay single for the rest of my life unless an actual prince on a white horse comes and sweeps me off of my feet! I know that won't happen, so... Here I sit doing my little crafts 😂 I have a few questions if it'll help your pod cast. I'm sure you have said this before, but what exactly do you and Liam do for work besides the podcast? I just find it interesting to here about what others do and how they improve our huge planet 😊 I retired early from the Criminal Justice field as a 911 dispatcher after a botched back surgery that caused my spine to collapse and has permanently disfigured/disabled me. Anyway, I'm still kicking it and spend my time crafting and watching ppl like you guys on KZbin 🤪 anyway, my other question is, what do you guys enjoy doing on date nights besides the norm of dinner and a movie? Hiking, hot air balloons, fairs? What are vacations or things you'd like to try on your bucket list that you've never done? An FAQ video relating to anything regarding your lives other than the fact that your trans would be interesting and fun to hear ❤❤❤

I have noticed since hitting perimenopause (plus a lovely thyroid issue) and gaining weight, the negative comments from men are awful. On the flip side, before my weight gain, the catcalling, stares, lude and suggestive comments were just as bad. I think the person that made that comment had to be in the US. Here in the US Unfortunately, it's become our reality that transpeople take priority over everyone else. I think they should be treated just like everybody else. If it's medically necessary and urgent get them to the front of the line. If it's not, then they can wait in the line, but unfortunately there are women like me who got bumped to the back of the line to get a hysterectomy when I've had feminine cancer 4 times and they took an ovary and a part of my cervix and a part of my uterus and put me through round after round after round of chemo. I didn't get my hysterectomy even though it would stop me from getting that kind of cancer again because it was somebody else "needed" it more. It was a transwoman. I personally know women who have been denied breast reconstruction surgery after having a double mastectomy from breast cancer. Their insurance wouldn't cover it, but every insurance covers breast implants for a transwoman. Here in the US women going through or that have been through menopause are denied HRT because even though it the best and most recommended treatment and helps head off many complications from menopause like degrading bone health, mental health, issues with their sexual health and ability to even have sex without pain or worse and many other things because most insurance won't cover it or have really long wait times and many many other options you have to go through for anyone but transwomen. Now transmen don't jump lines they are treated just like any man here, first class healthcare all the way. Men here get HRT for low T all the time and get treatment covered by insurance for sexual disfunction whereas women don't. Here "trans" kids are taken from their parents for not supporting their gender identity "enough" and those rates are far higher for trans boys than trans girls( I put trans in quotes because alot of these kids are being influenced and mislead and arent actually trans). Here in the US women are treated as second class citizens, especially for medical care, so biological women take a back seat to transwomen (as you acknowledge biological men), men, and transmen (because they are transitioning to men). It is very true that if a woman needs something and a transwoman wants it but there is a limited supply/time/resources the transwoman gets it. Limited supply of estrogen give it to the trans woman not the woman who is going/has gone through menopause and needs it to replace her natural hormones that she isn't producing anymore even though her mental, physical, and sexual health will decline without it. There is only so much money that insurance will pay for breast augmentation/ reconstruction give it to the transwoman not the woman who lost both breasts in a horrible assult or to breast cancer. Finacial assistance for adoption(which is very limited and only offered in some places) give it to the transwoman not the woman who's uterus was destroyed by a sexual assult or medical malpractice. And the list just keeps going. While I know or at least hope that you Alexis see the injustice in this alot of transwomen don't. So I get where their anger is coming from but it was aimed at the wrong person/people here.
@andreacoles5947
@andreacoles5947 2 ай бұрын
Here in New Zealand we have a public health system similar to the UK. But there have been several times in the past few years when HRT patches for menopause have been very scarce because there's been such a huge increase in demand from trans women. Also, I know women who have struggled to get breast surgery in our public system while trans women and men have much easier access, so I do feel the health system is heavily weighted towards trans people. However, I don't view Alexis as being in any way responsible for that.

I agree. It’s no coincidence my insurance will not over a checkup or my blood pressure medication let alone do a referral for my heart condition but if I was trans I could be fully transitioned under insurance for no cost out of my pocket. @debra2700
@debra2700 2 ай бұрын
@briannahudson6329 You are absolutely lying about everything. I live in the U.S. too and there's no way you were denied a hysterectomy because a transwoman needed one more. You would have no way of even knowing that and I highly doubt your surgeon walked in and said, "Gosh, I'm so sorry Mrs. B, we have to postpone your surgery because they just wheeled a trans woman into the operating room instead of you due to her needing to be in a Gay Pride Parade next week so we bumped them ahead of you and your cancer." There is no lack of estrogen in the U.S. because estrogen is nothing more than pregnant mare urine and even if every horse in America suddenly lost the ability to take a piss, we still have synthetic estrogen and I can assure everyone that transwomen don't get it first. Your whole rant is that of a troll who hates trans people and completely invents things that never happened to make them look bad and who hasn't posted one actual fact. If you needed a hysterectomy due to cancer and I even doubt that, what you're describing sounds shitty medical care and is not what routinely happens to women in the U.S. There are over 1,100 private health insurance companies in the U.S. along with Medicaid, Medicare and Affordable Health Care (Obamacare) and people get different coverage based on what each plan pays for what people are willing to pay for so you can't make a blanket statement that EVERYONE gets denied this or that. Alexis and Liam are lovely people just trying to live their lives and being generous enough to share their experiences with us and you are a sad troll who hopefully didn't wreck their day.

@@briannahudson6329 Nice fail. Trans girl here. Ya, it took 2 years for me to get one surgery. And I had to save over $8000 for my second surgery. No one is getting "bumped". What you're doing is spewing nonsense and bigotry propelled by the right wing and it's very uninformed. (1) Healthcare is first come, first serve. (2) Trans people ideally only need 2 types of doctors: endocrinologist and general surgeons. (3) Most insurance companies DENY trans surgeries. Aware? That's why it's important to be in therapy for years so insurance can approve. (4) The majority of people who get HRT aren't trans, they're cis gendered people. For example, my endocrinologist in El Paso, TX has trans clients but mostly it's cis gender females and some men who get T shots. (5) Trans people are a minority. It's easy to go after trans people cus you're a bigot and a low life and you don't get to tell me what to do cus you're cis gender. I, Alex, PAY into the system so I am ENTITLED to f***ing use it 🤷🏻‍♀️💯🥂. Ya. I pay a lot of taxes and I pay for expensive private insurance. You don't get to go in front of me cus you're cis gender. Long, long time viewer and first time poster. I like watching your videos, especially as your value system seems to align with mine. I'm an Australian transwoman in my 7th year. I totally get your response to that ladies post, I too would have been offended as I have spent and estimated $120,000 AU since starting my transition. Unfortunately not even bottom surgery is covered here. The thing I don't understand is the comment that your surgeries are not available to CIS women. I can only assume that she means "free"! Really enjoyed your previous video regarding hair transplants as I'm scheduled for one in 8 weeks time, again costing me another $12,000 out of my pocket. You look great and I do consider the ones like us that pass well to be very privileged. Keep up the great work. Biggest hugs.

That person who left that comment sounded very angry and kind of bitter. Some people hate their life situation SO much that they feel entitled to take it out on everyone around them. To me that is a very harmful unproductive attitude that is not empathetic at all. I want to tell the person who left that comment that life is not as harsh or as toxic as things are in your own life. Go and find a psychologist, change that stupid job you feel burnt out in or whatever else needs to be done for you to feel happy. In the US, I had to wait 1 year and go through therapy to get a breast reduction. Not an elective mastectomy. A reduction because I had a very large bust and a broken spine. Yet a trans man I know went in to the doctor, had a one appointment. Then, he had an elective mastectomy with the month on his parent's insurance because he was 25 and still on it. I have a friend who gets all her transition meds and appointments on state insurance. It took me 6 months to just get an appointment to the endocrinologist to get menopausal HRT, only to be refused by insurance because the estradiol has a testosterone component to it, but a trans person gets covered immediately. So, yeah, I get a bit salty about the American trans people taking precedent over biological women. No biological woman should be treated the way the Healthcare industry has started treating us.
@RedundantHuman-CandyBites

Agreed, it is hurtful that American & Canadian trans people are getting things covered ahead of biological women in desperate need of some procedures. I understand that England is not like that but that feels like you’re saying“not my problem, not my worry”. Often I get that reaction from people when I talk about kids being harmed by GI, “not my issue, not my problem”. I don’t have to have kids to care about the thousands of kids being harmed. I can see where the person was coming from, that it isn’t right. I think that is where the person was coming from. Not to mention why should our taxes ever cover people’s body dysphoria. I’ve struggled with that since I was 8yrs old. Su*c*dal. Extreme depression. A life time of bad coping methods to escape the pain. I get disgusted with looking into the mirror sometimes and I cry. How wonderful it would be for my mental health to get plastic surgeries. Still, no way on earth would I advocate for citizens to pay for my body dysphoria & gender acceptance. It’s absurd for any of us to have to work SO hard to have our taxes to go to that. It is and should be my responsibility to get dysphoric alleviating surgeries on my dime.

If trans wasn't a thing, you'd still be in the same position. Nobody in healthcare is bumping women for trans people. They only care about earnings and loss. The only way your saltiness would make sense is if you had a procedure or prescription scheduled and covered by insurance. Then had is unscheduled and denied, because a trans individual that wanted the same things scheduled after you, got moved up and preferential treatment.

Alexis, your followers jump to your defence because you are a genuinely lovely person. You are reasonable, respectful and compassionate. Hell, if that person had watched a few.more of your videos, they would know you paid for your own surgeries. As a PCOS hair loss sufferer, in the UK, it brasses me off that I've had to pay for my hair loss treatment privately. That's an issue for the government and the NHS! It's not your, or any other trans persons, issue! The person who made that post would have been fine if they'd posted in general terms. But they made it personal, and rude. That just is not acceptable, especially as it appears they'd not done any research by watching earlier videos where you'd clearly stated that you were self funded, by yourself and Liam. Of course we're going to defend you! We think a lot of you! Xxx

I wish people could both acknowledge that women’s health care is lacking whilst also acknowledging that trans healthcare especially through the NHS can be so hard to access time wise, and that private care can be expensive. Like it’s not trans women’s fault or responsibility that there is a lack of research and funding for women’s healthcare, and that medical misogyny exists

After watching i can def understand how you took that post personally... especially as they specifically called you out.... my take away though.... was the over arching idea... that i think is the bigger problem... Even with people who think people should be able to "transition"... they do not think of it in terms of immediate need... this is why people are wanting to deny any care for youth.... "just wait"... not to go down the youth rabbit hole.. as i know you do not believe in intervention for youth either... my point is... the medical interventions for trans people are not considered "need"... even that persons comment.. they believe others "need" those procedures... and their given to "trans".,,, the underline thought.. its a want for trans people... but need for others.... thats whats sad...

Just because you're getting a procedure doesn't mean others can't get the same one. If someone feels they missed out, they should take responsibility for their own choices. If something is truly important, you'll make it a priority-just as you did by saving and making sacrifices for it. Women who want the same can take similar steps to achieve their goals.

(this gets long, like multi paras, just a FYI for folks who don't want to read a whole lot not to click if you don't want a big bunch of text to show up) First off, I think you're 100% entitled to emotions and to "obsess over comments" when you need to. I know you said you don't normally, but I hope you can give yourself permission to have those emotional moments because they're important. Sometimes anger is our minds trying to tell us something we're not ready to hear, so processing it is important to tease out what we need to understand about ourselves in order to feel at peace. Letting it define you isn't healthy, but when a comment really gets to you I would say it's okay to be brave and dive into the pain and ask yourself, if you're mentally in a space to do this, "why does this hurt so bad?". It's not necessarily true, whatever they say, but there may be something in you that needs healing or a voice inside you that needs to be heard and she might require that attention. I urge you to take time with yourself in those moments to find the best way to give her that voice. It may even be just to talk in private to someone you trust, something we as your followers never see, but it could still be an important discussion that needs to happen to heal your inner child. Second, I don't think it's your job to fix the system, so I hope their comment didn't put any pressure on you as an influencer. That's a big responsibility and it's one we should share as a community. But whether it's from a personal experience or misinformation, I think what they had to say is worth a discussion. Your feelings are valid and I don't think they went about it well, but if you're asking for our perspectives I think you ended up shutting down what could've been a really valuable discussion. One you're not obligated to have, of course, but if you wanted to I think there could've been value in it for everyone. When it comes to just communication in general, I'm getting to a point where I realize in a situation where I've got emotions that my anger and frustration may be totally valid, but my response might not be. So when it comes to the internet, I type what's on my heart and then go back and re-read it. I ask myself "what my goal here" because if I'm just responding in anger it doesn't help. Sometimes it starts arguments. Like I could be over it and the next day be having a good day and get a nasty reply back from a defensive comment I made before and it just ruins my day. I don't think my emotions are wrong, but there's still another person behind the screen on the other side who feels the same way. I think if a response or comment you make reads defensive, then maybe it's better to just let it go sometimes. For me at least, I feel better with typing it out and then deleting it. Like burning a letter I'll never send to someone. When I do respond to something, I'm trying to see it through the other person's perspective (which is really emotionally hard sometimes). But it's helped me be more compassionate and I learn more about a topic that way and sometimes I can find a nice middle ground with people too. Maybe not responding would've been the best call for you or maybe a response in a different way could have been better. I don't think you're necessarily "in the wrong" here. I just think something more positive could've come out of this, but it didn't end up happening because of the decisions made. Sometimes we have to take a step back. This doesn't mean being an emotionless robot. It just means we find our center and allow ourselves permission to adapt a child-like mind- to be curious. Ask questions. Allow yourself to not know what someone else is thinking or feelings. Allow exploration of your own emotions. Have emotions, but allow love to restrain them. Give yourself permission to be hurt when you are. Sometimes that means stepping away so you can just be angry without it harming anyone. Maybe you need to smash something or sit in the car and yell at an imaginary passenger. Vent. Let it roll off of you. That anger deserves to exist, but it also deserves to be set free so you can pick out the stuff you really want to say. So you can go back and have a real conversation which means asking to be heard but also listening to someone else as well even if we don't always want to. Allow yourself the process of hurting, because that's the process of healing, and that becomes a learning experience. That's how we grow. The person's feelings sound valid. We don't know their situation. Maybe they or someone they love has been denied healthcare and they feel jaded now. It could be a legitimate problem in their area, wherever it is they are. Likewise, your feelings are valid. They shouldn't have cursed at you and your dysphoria is also a legitimate health condition that deserves treatment. Plus, you're paying for it all yourself as well. Feeling upset someone said to "back off" after you've worked so hard to treat your health almost entirely on your own would no doubt feel very invalidating and it makes sense it would've frustrated you. Overall, I think all of that could've been slowly teased out and hearts softened rather than approaching things defensively in the height of emotions. Something really good could've come out of it rather than everyone walking away feeling frustrated and hurt and unheard or misunderstood. I don't think you're wrong. You made a choice and I think it was fine. But I think there was another path here that you may have preferred to take instead. I think this was a missed opportunity for all women (trans women included) to ban together to talk about a common concern: healthcare access. There could be some valid questions to look into here, like how to prioritize who gets surgery, when insurance can/should pay for healthcare, how we can make sure our sisters around the world can get their needs met because everyone should be able to afford healthcare services, etc. While this commenter may not have had good intentions, I'd like to be hopeful that they're just hurting and went about it the wrong way. But a different response may have also inspired something else positive in someone else even if it wasn't that commenter specifically. While not your job to host these discussions, I think as an influencer you might simply enjoy being part of creating a space where they can happen and be someone who facilitates them with the goal that positive progress gets made. Today in global media, there's an "us vs them" polarization. People aren't always able to articulate their feelings very well, and it can create a large gap in communication. One of the reasons I adore your channel is because you're fair, compassionate, and seek to empathize. You're human too, so you're absolutely entitled to your emotions. I think you both came at your comments from a place of hurt. A common experience we all share is pain and suffering. But I think we can use that to reach out to each other with love instead. And that'll help make the world a better place for all of us.

So she could for that reason get them reduced to get a better life quality. Same for me with my braces are also payed with tax money.

To my original statement is when you see a response like that from a woman, she's not hating on trans people at all. It's coming from a place of pain that women who get discarded by their husbands and by society and can't get jobs because they lose their attractiveness they lose their femininity as they get older, and the stress of raising the stress of life doesn't help either raising cortisol levels and things like that and they see people getting the benefit of healthcare… Again clarifying in America… Where insurance favors people who want to be or started as male For instanceinsurance will pay for a fake testicle for a man siding that it's psychologically disadvantages for him to only have one, but yet won't pay for breast reconstruction for women and won't pay for a facelift for woman I don't know how many people going around looking at testicles, but I do know that women get looked at all the time in their face and judged for how they look
