I have a Cloud 9 R8 from 2007 and it totaly has this Bonamassa tone. Well, without the "tone is in the hands" part ;) The guitar had wrong pots in it (lin instead of log). Put in a vintage correct set of cts pots from "RS" and this was a real game change. Every pot is useable from 1 to 10 and gives nice, bell ringing tone coming from the burstbucker pickups. I love this. Especially playing both with different volume settings. You have to play with it. Fix the frets on yours and never look back. Have fun :)

In the G, don’t wind too much string on, no more than two turns around the post and lubricate the nut slot with a simple lead pencil.
@mickhanson7574
@mickhanson7574 Ай бұрын
Re G tuning, when winding the string on the tuning post, wind it up instead of down. You can do this on all the non wound strings. Don’t know why but it works. I also have an LP epi and put a roller bridge on it, it’s great now so will also be doing this to my Gibbo studio as well. Beautiful guitar!

it reduces the break angle at the nut, that might be why

Congrats on the new Gibson. I recently bought a new Gibson USA 50s LP standard and the tuning stability is perfect along with the playability right out of the case from Gibson. 98% of tuning issues are caused at the nut. Replace or file it correctly and the tuning issues will be solved.

The G string issue I could live with- just file and lubricate the nut- but that dead fret would've been a deal breaker for me. I've seen guys chase that issue until they were spent out- and they still had a dead fret when they sold it. Idk enough about them to understand how you could do a whole fret job, have it leveled and dressed- and still have a dead fret- but I've seen it happen. Pretty sure that's rare though- you'll most likely have a good experience with it. I hope you do, looks and sounds amazing. Congrats dude- moving on up the guitar ladder. Anyone who plays as well as you and has had the success you have should own a guitar like this eventually- not necessarily a Gibson but, you get my meaning- something historic and expensive.

@@stoneysdead689 thanks mate, very much appreciated!! I think the dead fret is a low fret…but I thought that because it’s the 20th fret on the first string it shouldn’t be that big of an issue to get rid of! I could raise the action back up to where it was when I got it and it would go away. I going to see a local luthier in a couple of days who knows his stuff when it comes to Gibson guitars…he will be able to let me know what I can do with it!! Thanks again mate…I really appreciate all your continued supports and comments…thank you very much!!

Hey Gabor. Loving the guitar. I’m not a Fender fan at all so to see you with a Gibson bought me great joy. The moment you played the first strum on the dirty channel smiled from ear to ear there is nothing else that has that deep rich tone. Like you not sure about the price and for that reason have only ever owned copies. But what a guitar… and let’s be honest we all like to fiddle with our G Stings 🤣

The neck is not Gibson's thickest but second thickest. It actually forces your hand to curve in a shape that is less fatiguing. In short you soon adapt and it becomes your go-to as at the end of a session because you are still playing great and without fatigue to your hand, fingers and wrist. It is so effective I had it cloned and had a Fender style guitar made to cover Fender tones. You will be glad you bought it. For one thing it is like buying valuable stock that forever increases in value. You have a very good one. The best ones have a small growl in the low end that others do not!!! lucky you!!!!

I love my Gibson, it has been the only guitar I really play for the year and a half that I own it. But... if it takes ages to set it up right, still doesn't hold tune, but now it is "alright"... I don't think this is the guitar for you. And I'm saying this because when i went to buy my Gibson (les paul jr 2010), as soon as I felt the neck and held it in my lap, I knew that was "my" guitar.

Until a few years ago I was also clueless about Gibson's and why people loved them. I've now got a 2007 Les Paul BFG and I wouldn't part with it. I'd had other Les Pauls in the past and failed to find one that I really liked. This one, though, is somehow different (to me). It's subjective of course, but until I found a Les Paul I loved I never really understood what the big deal was.

There really is a certain special way they sound, and I put a Gibson pickup in my Epiphone Junior and I'm convinced it has that mojo. Also for me I admit to be smitten by the look of the Les Paul, and especially the cherry burst version of it. People can be very particular about these kinds of things, and I certainly am.

I don't really like the hype of vintage guitars... I tryed a lot of different guitars, types from different brands and some have their own and special character. The Les Paul sounds special, but you have a lot of different options and these are also sounding great. A good and well made guitar cost money and you have to make a decision if it's the right guitar for you... Maybe it's a tiny bit better than a cheaper version...2% or 5%...or 15%... A good guitar should be an inspiration that let you play new music and it should make you happy. What I don't like is no further development. Some guitar builders, companies, brands, just doing still the same...but the world keeps on turning and you can find a lot of good innovations on guitars all around the world. Locking tuners should be a standard... Why is tuning stability still a problem in 2024? Old fashioned guitars or guitars that look that way, is not really my thing. I don't understand why a new guitar need an old look... I still relic my guitars by playing it. These days you can get so many really good guitars and if you never played different guitars you will never know how interesting and inspiring other guitars could sound. I don't need a original Les Paul. In comparison with other high priced guitars it don't have the quality than other guitars from other companies. At least, every guitar player should find the guitar that let you smile and gives you a good feeling. I think that's all what's matters.
