I’ve owned the exact same car since 2022. Cured all my ailments and my mental well-being has never been better! 😅 Fun to drive, easy to maintain, and looks awesome. That’s the right recipe for me.

I’ve had my 2006 for 8 years now. It’s paid for and in excellent condition. Unless I can afford something exotic (I can’t) I have no interest in anything to replace it for the $25k that it’s worth.

Left side ignition is a race car feature. Porsche had it on the left in Le Mans as it’d save them time comparatively to a right hand side one.
@mccgarage3 ай бұрын
Oh wow! That’s really interesting I didn’t know that. I won’t get so annoyed now:) haha
@alvinlu76313 ай бұрын
@@mccgarage another way of thinking about how it saves time is if the car dies and needs to be restarted. Your right hand can quickly shift to first, the left hand on the button, left foot on the clutch. Basically no wasted movement.

Best stock handling vehicle I've owned so far, my Mazdaspeed Miata MX5 would come in 2nd. Both cars are track worthy stock out of the box.

I've been a AP1 driver for 13 years and wouldn't have any other sports car. Personally, I have never felt my AP1 was slow. If you look at any of the comparison tests that the auto mags did when the AP1 came out in 1999, it beat (both 0-60 and road course) the BMW, Nissan and Porsche Boxster, all 6 cyl. !!! I too enjoy mountain driving and have had mine up to 135 mph. Yes, you have to keep the revs up there and it isn't going to win any drag races but for pure driving pleasure, it has no comparison. Cheers
@mccgarage3 ай бұрын
Oh that’s cool to know about the old 0-60 tests! I think there’s just so much torque out of newer cars that most people would consider it “slow” but I agree with you.
@wvjon753 ай бұрын
I agree. I sometimes dream of a supercharger when at stoplights. The car can go pretty quick but you have to work for it. It doesn't have the effortless torque of a lot of modern turbocharged cars. But when I get into the mountains and canyons for a drive, I think the power level is perfect. I was with my buddies last week. One has a tuned 350hp Civic Type R and the other a 380hp supercharged S2000. When we are on the curvy roads its still a level playing field.

Relative to the cars I have owned since 1985, it is not slow at all. Depends on what you have been driving. My main fun car is my Cayman GTS and I just drove a 2003 S2000 yesterday and it had me questioning which car I own because it was so fun!
@mccgarage2 ай бұрын
Completely agree! I think people’s expectations today are just too high for “fast” and then misunderstand this car when they get in it. The fun factor is through the roof in an s2000!
@wvjon753 ай бұрын
I’m not big into modding either but a flashpro tune helped mine in terms of midrange power. Vtech starts at like 4000 rpm now and builds more gradually. This makes third gear more usable coming out of corners. I find I can cruise around one gear higher often times.
@mccgarage3 ай бұрын
Oh interesting I’ll have to look into those! Thanks!
@bamaboyburns80793 ай бұрын
Wow that’s a clean s2000 I don’t see them often where I live I drive one back in 2012 it was bone stock I wouldn’t exactly say it’s slow I think it’s quick enough and yes vtec sounds amazing if I had one this clean no amount of money would make me sale it
@mccgarage3 ай бұрын
Thank you! I think people now expect 300hp + with quick 0-60 and if they do, they become underwhelmed when they get in an s2000. So I try to set expectations right!

I've raced an 07 mustang GT, 2014 focus ST and a Dodge Challenger with a hemi and outran them all in my 02 S2000 with just a exhaust,header and downpipe and bullfrog bored out throttle body.. I never thought of it as being slow, I time 0-60 in 5.4 sec.

Slow stock is debateable. These cars are meant to be driven high strung at the top of the rpms. You can always boost for more torque. Many reliable kits now a days whether you decide to turbo or supercharge. The F series is still a potent engine parts are harder to come by
@mccgarage2 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s so to be clear. But in today’s world with high hp in a lot of sports cars people don’t understand exactly your point. Would love to supercharge mine some day
