A Kind of Adventurous Life

Күн бұрын

UPDATE: As Hungary closed their borders from foreign nationals starting from September 1, we probably won't go to Budapest in September.
Follow A Kind of Kirikou's adventures also on Instagram: / akindofkirikou
New video on this channel once in a while.
A Kind of Adventurous Life is a kind of adventurous KZbin channel about the everyday adventures of 15-year-old Kirikou (and his favourite brother Nanook). Sometimes also featuring their dad. Currently their adventures take place mostly in Finland.

@@surfinia2 Don't I know that! Here in Germany U21 have to be a) in high school, b) at university, c) in an approved apprenticeship or d) volunteer to a social program! If you're unemployed, you have to report to the Job Center! No sitting about doing nothing! If parents/guardians don't register there child, they will take away the "Kindergeld" which is about €210 ($240) per month! This money is important especially since unemployment of adults is so high! Most people make sure their teens and young adults stay in school to get the child allowance. Gap year abroad or as a childminder are permitted, but must be registered with approved agencies. In Germany, home schooling is rare, so parents are forced to do something with their children!

School is not the only place where you can learn important things about life! We are always learning, and there are many things and many ways to learn. Take time off and enjoy. You are a brilliant young man, and I am sure you will have acquired some wisdom until next year. Travel and experiencing different cultures is one of the best learning experiences anyway, plus it is adventurous! Keep sharing with us. Hugs for you and Nanook from an immigrant in California. ❤️❤️

There are many ways to educate yourself! I think one of the silver linings in the Covid cloud is the opportunity to become more creative in connecting with people and learning things.

Veronica Smith I am saying this with interest, nothing else . . . aren’t you “connecting” with us now? Yes, I desperately miss the hugs and physical contact. I am a hugger by nature. But my friends and I have begun to reach out with actual pen and paper letters and photos. It’s such a treat to get something personal from the mailman.
@katherinemaas6712
@katherinemaas6712 3 жыл бұрын
@Veronica Smith Let me give you a couple of examples. Today we visited my grandsons for the first time since Covid started. They have been living two days' drive from us, and we hadn't seen them for 13 months. We never make that trek in winter as the winter drive is too dangerous for two seniors, and by the time spring came, we were all in lockdown. When we finally met face to face today, we all wanted to hug each other so much, but instead of doing that, as we greeted, my partner and I hugged each other, while my daughter and her family all hugged each other, while we all looked each other in the eye and talked about substitute hugging. Not quite the same as real hugging, I grant you, but better than no hugging at all! And we talked openly about how much we miss physical contact with each other right now, how this won't last forever, and how we will never take the ability to touch each other for granted again. That was a very worthwhile conversation to have with two young boys, and one we would never have had if it hadn't been for Covid. Another example: I am a member of a choir and we can't sing together face to face right now. We all miss this tremendously. But our choir directors got creative and began doing choir practice by Zoom, three times a week, just as we always used to do face to face. We even did a virtual concert this spring, where we all recorded our parts individually and they were mixed together with video to create a beautiful concert. This made us all feel pretty good, not as good as when we actually sing together, but better than nothing, and the charity that benefits from our concerts was very happy to have the money that was donated by people who "attended" our concert online. I could give you many other examples. Still, I know there are a lot of people suffering right now from the lack of normal contact with others, especially people who live alone and who don't have a pet to absorb some of that deep human need for physical contact. But we humans are pretty creative beings, and people are devising ways of connecting without touch. I am so grateful that this happened in a world where we have technology that helps keep us connected even when we can't be physically connected. And it won't last forever. And when it's over we'll appreciate so much more the contacts we have always taken so for granted.

@Veronica Smith I'm sorry you lost your son! It must be difficult to experience this! It's new and demands as to find new ways to go through it. We have similar situations in our human life, we are just not aware it exists. Astronauts are far away from their families for months (one even for a year) and they still connect with their families. They may also endure loss while being up there in space. Humans are so hyped about going to mars, but it requires astronauts to spend not only months, but up to years in total to be able to just travel to mars, stay a few months and come back. Many fathers work far away from their loved ones on oil platforms out in the sea. All those truck drivers out there driving all alone across the borders to bring us food on the table. They may wish to have their loved ones besides them, to be there to experience happiness and sadness together. All of us, who go through this, can help each other even from the distance.

I didn't know about such thing as a gap year, and did not have a contact with my supervisors, which was sad looking back. I totally understand where you are coming from! My son was at boarding school when the virus broke out. He stayed there because it was quarantined! He came home for the summer and now is going back. The school offered him a scholarship so he could continue his studies. My Sohnemann doesn't do well at distance learning, so it's best to have him on sight! I could keep him home, but he just turned 19 and must complete the 12th grade by age 20, so time is of the essence! He had his gap year when his father transcended. Now he has to carry on and find an apprenticeship after graduation as he is a young adult. Btw, when I was a young adult, The Wall fell while I had my gap year in Germany! It was topsy turvy and my husband and I just had to put our feet up and go with the flow in terms of limited job opportunities and housing despite graduating university! You'll survive! Ask your parents about that time! They were most likey your age!
