15:21 That's because it's a reference to the other Classic era Who story with The Great Intelligence - the Web of Fear (the 2nd Doctor story that got a missing ep animation for Part 3 that everyone spent ages laughing at last year).
@christianwise6372 жыл бұрын
My main takeaway from this video is that Harry really needs to watch more Classic Who stories, partly to stop these references going over his head, and also partly because a lot of them are genuinely really good

Easily the best version of Clara. Moffat made a huge mistake killing her off, as modern day Clara is nowhere near as interesting.
@christianwise6372 жыл бұрын
I heard somewhere that this version of Clara was supposed to be the main companion, but the BBC intervened and insisted that the companion be from the present day. I'm not sure how true this is, since I haven't seen the exact source for this, but the fanbase seems to have taken this interpretation as gospel, so make of that what you will

Coincidentally rewatched The Snowmen the same day this review came out. I like this darker version of the Eleventh Doctor, introduction of Clara Oswald, new TARDIS interior, and new intro. Too bad Series 7B was as short as it was but I like how it differentiates from the rest of the Eleventh Doctor’s Era
@grandempressvicky63872 жыл бұрын
The Ponds should've left in Series 6 or much earlier in series 7 so that Eleven and Clara had more time.
@grandempressvicky63872 жыл бұрын
And I think that we should've stuck with a darker Doctor for a bit and Victorian Clara had to slowly return him to his former self. Maybe having victorian London bound alien stories for 2 or 3 episodes before leaving.
@mediakira66219 ай бұрын
Honestly series 7B (when not doing that stupid naked scene) 11 doctor just reminded me for series 5 11 doctor where he was way more toned down. Childish yeah but more blunt and less cuddly. And I loved it. Can’t stand it when his childish side is exaggerated.

Fan Theory - Digby Latimer is the great-uncle of Lily and Cyril Arwell in The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe. An "Uncle Digby" is mentioned in that episode and he is said to be living in a home, probably the kind for the elderly or handicapped.

As mentioned in the review, I feel like it would be amazing to have Simeon and The Snowmen invade the house. While it was established that the Snowmen rely on thought to be formed, they could leech off of Simeon instead, which would actually make them threatening.

I'm fairly sure the date and location of the underground Matt Smith brings up is a reference to the first? Great inteligence story where he sends an army of Robot Yeti to attack via the london underground. I say 'Fairly sure' because I haven't seen it but I've heard enough that I think that's what it's referencing? Honestly I have this issue almost everytime the show references it's old history if it's not the RTD era. Like, season 1: We see an old cyberman head and it's described as an old enemy, fine. We meet Sarah Jane and it's the focus of the episode. Great! This episode: Here's a reference that goes nowhere. Power of the Doctor: look it's a bunch of old characters and references we don't explain at all (see the Master killing Tegan's Aunt with his shrinking gun) Point is you can reference your history but also make it understandable... and they don't most of the time!
@cdoors102 жыл бұрын
The link between Oswin and Clara are to continue setting up The Impossible Girl arc and are done on purpose because unlike the situation with Martha this was the plan from the start and not just a coincidence that Moffat picked the same actor. Even when they were holding auditions that was his plan, It was adapted slightly but the basic idea was the same

I liked this special fairly well though your criticisms are noted. It's funny that throughout Who the child acting has always been despised, let's just get rid of child actors all together! 😆 The Paternoster gang are okay, they have their moments. I did like the one word test, especially it's resulting answer and the Doctor's reaction to it. The snowmen themselves didn't do much in the episode, they could have been more if a menace. 🥶 They did look good though. The Great Intelligence 🧠 was a good concept villain wasted. The main positive of the episode was indeed Victorian Clara. Loved her Cokney accent, her mannerisms, her dual lifestyle, her sass and even her flirtation with the Doctor. Her ascending to the clouds and touring the outside of Tardis was magical, one if the best scenes of Who itself. She had good rapport with him and would have been a great companion. Their scenes together were electric because they had chemistry. They missed an opportunity using her in future 🔮 episodes though I understand she was meant simply as one of modern Clara's many splinters after she had entered the Doctor's timestream. Did you really refer to modern Clara as a f***ing spoon? 🥄 Is that some British insult I don't get? Whatever. 🙄 My vote: 8/10 (mostly for Clara 😘)

You think russel didn't have an idea to bring back donna for later stuff when he made the run away bride? Moffat probably had it planned since this was apart of the same season. He probably made up the plot line before, and if the rumours were true then the bbc made moffat have a modern clara instead of Victorian clara.

NGL, liked Clara in the Dalek episode but hated her every other time and for the rest of the seasons she was a companion. I don't know why, I just hate her. Its like Moffat had no idea what to do with her other than keep her around. Me thinks he liked the actress a little too much... Also, we'd just had a "special mystery girl" kinda companion in Amy so it was annoying to see another "super special girl/who are you?!" trope AGAIN!

I definitely feel I view this episode through rose tinted glasses as I remember how much I enjoyed the possibility of the Doctor travelling with a companion from a period outside of the 21st century, only to have 7B Clara be as exciting as white bread as a companion. It's got some trademark Moffatisms that are such baloney, but the parts it does well (including that one word test imo) mean I view it more as a 5 or 6/10

@Harry's Moving Media I am going against the grain as I LIKED CLARA, Mainly as Jenna Coleman was really good - She acted it so well and really deserves credit for her efforts... But I CANNOT DENY that the writing was SO BAD for Clara!!! As much as its Dunked on, I actually think the Impossible Girl idea had legs... But I don't feel Moffat had any clue what he was doing after he came up with the concept... A Real Shame... As it taints what is otherwise a Great Body of Work from a very talented Young Actress! And The Great Intelligence - WOAH BOY! Where to begin.... I mean, I am old enough to have grown up with Classic Doctor Who... OK! I watched The Second Doctor in Re-Runs, The Patrick Troughton Years, and The Great Intelligence was indeed a Formidable opponent as IT WAS INTELLIGENT! THAT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT! But here it seems DUMB AS A BOX OF FROGS!!! And again... I feel it taints Richard E. Grant who is a BRILLIANT ACTOR! I first came across him in WARLOCK - And DAMN he was brilliant in that... That led me to Withnail and I, which WOW! That is a movie to see if you want to see how good Grant is as an actor... But here... I don't know if it was the direction or the script but WOW he seems to just Phone it in! And sadly, That's how I feel about ALL HIS PERFROMANCES as the Great Intelligence... I know he can do so much more and could have made this Enemy deeply threatening! Yet he seemed Hamstrung or uninterested! I feel this episode helped establish Clara for me... This is where I finally started to become invested and wanted to know the story - But I have to admit, overall, Its a Pretty middle of the roads episode... I think 4/10 is about right!
