The reason Amy can't remember the events of the Davies Era is because of the climax of Series 5. When the universe was rebooted at the end, everything that happened before that point was undone, and only The Doctor, and presumably a few other people that were involved, could remember them happening.

4:53 - Not one of the Doctor's most ingeneous plans. I enjoyed this episode. It wasn't particularly deep, but it was fun for what it was. The new Daleks didn't even bother me. Them acting differently wasn't something I would expect. They are still Daleks. Reminds me of the caretakers of the great machine in Babylon 5, they were all identical, but when you asked them they would say, no, repeat the same name and point out that there were numerous subtle differences and start explaining it while the camera pans away. It was if one of the Dalek's said, yes I am the funny one, Exterminate, Daleks are the master race.

The Air Raid Warden would certainly have been relieved that the lights were off. London lit like a Christmas tree is a perfect guide for the Germans to bomb strategic targets. One BIG problem. Spitfires used propellers to move air over the wings, providing lift and driving the plane forward. No air, no lift. In microgravity, lift isn't necessary, but how would the Spitfire move forward? Thrusters or jets would be needed. Also, my late uncle went to America to learn to fly a Spitfire. He was 20. Imagine if 20-21 year old pilots were suddenly expected to fly into space, literally where no man had gone before. They would be overwhelmed by the sight of the Earth, and the stars seen without the filter of the atmosphere. I know, I'm overthinking, but I can't help it

I think McNeice actually did a better job of portray Churchill than Gary Oldman, though that could be because in Darkest Hour it was said by Gary that he wasn't trying to capture the exact mannerisms and sound of Churchill. Personally I can't see the point of not trying to do that in a biopic... But yeah like almost everything in the Moffat era including most of the stuff written by Mark and the Guestwriters (good name for a jazz band) it doesn't make any sense when you think about it and has more holes than Swiss cheese. I wouldn't exactly bash a kids TV show for simplifying the war though, it wasn't even given two parter run time so Nazis bad British good will have to do, they were hardly going to cover the complexities of the Dresden Bombing in a Saturday Dinner time BBC show. The Spacefires are dumb and break existing show rules about not letting people have technology that can alter fixed points in human history, again perhaps if it was a two parter the Daleks could have been build up and then Bracewell and the Spacefires (good name for a synthwave group) could have all been destroyed taking out the Daleks in a climax before the usual one Dalek manages to escape thing... ahhh I'm just spitballing here, I don't get paid 60 grand a year by the BBC to write full time, I came up with that in like 20 seconds...

The RAF defense of Britain wasn't directed from London, nor in consultation with Churchill who had no operational control; so 0/10 for that. Nor could the Germans execute a lightning raid on London, even if it lit up like a Christmas tree, so they'd actually have several hours to fix things. Shout out to the guy on the roof, pinched from a similar character in the film Battle of Britain at Biggin Hill. The khaki Daleks are great fun (so it's a pity the speaking collectables didn't actually have the episode dialogue - no sale). The lard-arse Daleks are a consequence of the modern technical operator with the fuller figure. I keep thinking: Shell suits! Finale: Yep nothing makes sense here, even before we have Spitfires flying aerodynamically in a vacuum, so overall 1/10. CUP OF TEA AND A BISCUIT ANYONE?

@OptimysticPessimyst3 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t keen on your review tbh because a lot of your criticisms are subjective and not objective problems apart from the fact that the pacing is bad and it should’ve probably been a 2 parter. People have so much hate for the Paradigm Dalek design and yes, while they aren’t even close in quality to the bronze boys, their design is by no means bad and they’re written quite competently. Also you clearly missed the point that the Doctor takes apart all of Bracewell’s technology at the end of the episode hence why we never see it again and Churchill even laments it happening only for The Doctor to explain that it’s not how the events occur. It felt like you decided this episode was bad at one point and then just let your emotions spiral. 2/10 is EXTREMELY harsh when you compare it to many other episodes that you have given either similar or even better ratings too. Victory is still leagues above some of the writing in Capaldi and Jodie’s eras and I’d personally give it a 5 based purely on objective issues. You could’ve very easily removed Vampires in Venice and made this a 2-parter and had the Doctor noticing the British having a very unfair and unnatural advantage in the war due to Bracewell and he has an obligation to stopping it before realising it’s a Dalek plot to get him to identify them. Then have the 2nd part be him dealing with the Paradigm and exploring a potential dissent in the ranks because they keep the “unclean” Daleks (which aren’t really unclean as they’re made from Davros/Kaled cells and not hybrids of anything so they’re about as clean as you can get - you forget to mention that writing error) alive as a lower class. There was so much potential in the new Paradigm that was only loosely followed up in Asylum and that saddens me a bit. We could’ve had a long arc of a new Civil War between the Paradigm and the rest of the Daleks. But alas, people disliked change and they ended up in the bin. Sometimes the fans are right and sometimes the fans are wrong. I think they were wrong this time.

The paradigm daleks may not have looked so terrible if they had a better colour scheme, let them have a mostly similar colour scheme and using their rank / role colour as secondary / highlights, it is a cheaper version then making a specialist dalek case per role but they where kidna trying to fix something that was not broken as the Bronze daleks are still around and the design is still good.

Moffat really screws up the continuity when bringing back Davros and the Daleks in Series 9 and Davros tells the Doctor he remembers all their conversations in the past and THEN goes and shows the conversation between 10 and Davros in The Stolen Earth. I think the Dalek bomb thing was more just a distraction as it wasn't really meant to be a deadly thing. Victory is such an odd episode but its better than the other Dalek stories in the Moffatt era. I'm sorry... Although I appreciate the effort you've put in, you need to really do some homework. There's a lot of ill-founded supposition in your conclusions. One glaring mistake, for instance, is the argument that Amy doesn't remember the Daleks because of Moffatt wanting to 'glean new audiences'. The truth is Amy grew up with a cosmic crack in her wall which has completely altered what she remembers and doesn't remember about her life. The Daleks have been wiped from her memory along with her parents and many other things.... as explained later in the series. However, and you should bare this in mind when doing these videos, it is so much more easy to be a critic than to be creator... so even for this laziness I forgive you.,

This episode is amazing. Yes I know the Daleks at the end are bad and only there to sell toys but still quality episode

It’s a Jam Ring biscuit not a Jammy Dodger, that always pissed me off.
@mellow39953 жыл бұрын
It's called a Jammy Dodger in Britain, Doctor Who was originally a British show for a British audience

You're watching a show by the BBC, a BRITISH channel, made for people in BRITAIN, where Jammie Dodgers are called Jammie Dodgers and not some shite American name. "Jam Ring Biscuit" that isn't a name, you're just stating what it is, that's like me walking about and introducing myself as "Human".

It is a jam ring though, that's what Fox's call them, jam and cream ring I think, Jammie Dodgers have a heart shape cut-out. Also, stop being xenophobes over this, it's weird and stupid, I've never heard of a culture being erased biscuit first. Mitch, you may have to go as Mitchell to avoid future confusion over your Britishness, particularly if you are going to continue getting yourself involved with touchy subjects such as biscuits

@@MunkiZee I've never heard the term 'jam ring' before and I doubt most kids in Britain 10 years ago would either. I get your point though, but we Brits just love our dang biscuits :O

What is your problem with patriotism? Seriously, it makes you feel sick? That's a vile attitude to have towards our country.

About 5/10, hard to know which of this or the previous is worse, I think this one is a bit more exciting, TBB has no real action or anything that interesting or exciting.

this is honestly the worst dalek episode for me. like others can just be boring and fucking stupid (asylum of the daleks being one of them) but the implications this episode has on the series is the worst thing, like before the daleks were treat like a threat and this would be the final time they make the doctors blood boil, and with them just running away to create a huge empire that ravages the future it pretty much made the doctors efforts for not and ruined the parralel of the final ones of each others species. sure you don't have to have parralels between your protagonist and antagonist, but at that point the cybermen are a more suitable archenemy for the doctor, or even the master who doesn't reappear until the next regeneration. like the doctor always lost everything trying to keep the daleks dead, now he loses nothing keeping them alive. it's a huge fucking downgrade either way you put it, the stakes got entirely taken away.

Feed and give clean water to a starving child or pay you to make Doctor Who videos - hmm 🤔
