@@faroutfungi The existence of Jesus isn't determined by the specific name used. Names can vary across languages and cultures. While "Jesus" is the English form, "Yeshua" or "Isho" are his names in Hebrew and Aramaic. The different names reflect linguistic differences, not the historical existence of Jesus. Another example of this is Alexander the Great. In Greek, his name is "Alexandros," and in Persian, he's known as "Iskandar." These names all refer to the same historical figure, just in different languages.

Only a few minutes in so far, but just want to say it's cool to see the guy from Flagrant doing this type of content. It's right up my alley. I got saved on 3/22/24 while in the hospital going through severe opioid withdrawals. Through up a ton of blood, received blood transfusions for a week, had to have a catheter inserted due to losing the ability to go on my own despite 1,000mL of urine in my bladder. It was horrible. Struggled with this battle for almost 15 years prior to this point. I would beg nurses and staff to pray for me, many did. One in particular took my hand and prayed out loud saying she'd never done that before when things go bad. Over the course of that week I realized that if I'm to have any chance I need to eliminate doubt from my mind fully and trust in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit all the rest of my days for I am hopeless without the hope Christ brings. I know what He taught is true because those morals and values as my foundation for life through reading the entire New Testament has allowed me to do a complete 180 and now I'm over 8 months clean without a single slip-up. The ways of Jesus are the best ways because they are the truth - John 14:6.

Congrats!! What an amazing testimony. Praise Jesus! I was an addict for 26 years. Opiates for the last 15. I spent 3 months in the hospital due to alcoholism. I went blind for a month and nearly died a few times. About 10 years ago Jesus got a hold of me. I still couldn't get rid of my addictions. Then He showed me that I was trying to be better so I could be close to God. Instead of being close to God so I could be better. That day He took my addiction. He also took my victim mentality which changed everything. He is so good I can't even believe it.
@TRINITY-62611 күн бұрын
@@Sarahopal Amen. Congrats to you as well and thanks for your reply. And another amen to that last part about Him taking away that victim mentality. Once I started to own up to my role in my addiction and stop pointing the fingers everywhere because I was angry, even if there were legitimate gripes, that was a vital key to my transition to freedom as a sober person and Jesus paved the way for it all. I just had to accept Him once and for all and eliminate the doubt from my mind.
@Sarahopal9 күн бұрын
@TRINITY-626 that's awesome! I would tell people I was a "survivor " that I was not a victim. But if they asked anything about who I was, I'd basically list all the things I'd been a victim of lol. I went to meet a pastor and I took 3 pages of traumas I had endured because I said I wanted him to "know who I was." He politely refused to read it and i was MAD! I told my husband I'd never go there again. That guy was a jerk. He didn't even care about who I was. Then I woke up at 6am with the clearest voice in my head saying "that is not who you are." I hit the floor sobbing for hours. It was like some wall just shattered in me. I called the pastor and apologized, said I know what you were trying to say. Those things are not who I am! He cried with me on the phone and told me he knew I'd figure it out. That was the first day of the rest of my life. My real life 😉 God bless you! The attacks will come, the enemy thought he had you. Remember you do not have to carry them. You are washed clean. Shame and guilt are not yours anymore. He chose you for a reason. When attacks come lean in harder to God. They get easier to handle with practice. God bless and keep you!

The evidence for the resurrection is well known and it consists of three interlocking pieces (though in this space it cannot be explained in the full details): 1) the fact of the empty tomb, 2) the resurrection appearances of Christ and 3) the transformation of the disciples and the establishment of the church. After Jesus’ violent death, his followers were frightened and scattered. Then, something happened that grew a strong, bold, and confident belief that resisted sustained, murderous opposition. Unlike other movements with executed leaders, once they came back together they did not replace Yeshua with one of his family members or somebody else. Their resistance was entirely non-violent and devoid of political power.They were all suddenly willing to die for what they saw. What changed them? Why was there not evidence at the time to undermine their belief? Why didn't the Pharisees just produce Jesus’ body and end the faith? What convinced them that Yeshua was inconceivably greater than his family? One of the earliest arguments against Jesus' resurrection was from the Jewish authorities. The Jewish authorities did not respond to the claim that Jesus’s tomb was empty. Rather, they concocted a rebuttal which argued that the disciples stole the body (which is talked about in Mt. 28:11-15). Ironically, their rebuttal actually strengthens the claim that the tomb was found empty.The Jewish and Roman leaders never produced a body which at least implies an empty tomb. If they were opposed to Christianity and possessed the body, why would they not expose it? Even if the Jews wouldn’t, the Romans would squelch what would be perceived as a new uprising. A different world view usually takes along time of debating and discussion until one side wins, that's how culture and worldviews change. But the Christian worldview of resurrection sprang up full-blown immediately after the death of Jesus. Their was no process or development. His followers were telling others what they had seen themselves. It would have been hard to get Jews to form a movement unless their were multiple, plausible, repeated encounters with Jesus after his death. It was blasphemy for Jews to begin worshipping any human being. No other group of Jews ever worshipped a human being as God. What led them to do it? What changed their worldview so fast and had them willing to die for it, be thrown in prison for it, and preach it through out the cities? Its because the Messiah came and ushered in the 2nd Covenant, as the prophets said thousands of years before, offering Salvation to us all.

@@eklypisedand a terrible piece of it. 1 reason, memory is fallible. Another one, eye witnesses often have their own biases. The Gospels were written several decades after the “events” happened, the earliest Gospel, Mark, is generally believed to have been written around 70 CE, about 40 years after Jesus’ death. The other Gospels (Matthew, Luke, and John) were written even later. You really think their memory is very clear? Stories about Jesus were passed along verbally, which means the potential for changes, embellishments, or even misremembering key details to be said wrong increases over time. One explanation for the empty tomb is that Jesus’ body was stolen. Some theorize that the disciples or other followers of Jesus took his body in the night to create the appearance of a resurrection. This theory was even mentioned by the Gospel of Matthew (28:11-15), which claims that the guards were bribed to say the body was stolen. If this theory were true, it could explain the empty tomb without requiring the resurrection to be a supernatural event. There is 0 evidence on either side. He could be real, he could be fake. It is all about if you have faith or not, no proof

It is a good point. But that really stretches Paul's letter talking about focusing on the crucifixion and kind of makes it a death cult imo The very first Christians worshipped the risen Jesus . So much so when Christians would meet, as a secret greeting they would say "he has risen" to identify themselves Thats where history gets muddy between the early Jewish Christians/gnostics and who would go onto become to Catholic/Orthodox churches PS I spent like 500 dollars on a Aramaic to English copy of the new testament from the khabouris Codex. And Paul says "don't be like the others missing our meetings" That was a mistranslation from the Greek word ecclesia which means to "assemble". But he never once says church in regards to a building This is the biggest problem with the "church" today. It's called the body of Christ, because it's alive and living. elephantine papyri completely destroyed the entire abrahamic mythology. Tacitus, we can tell, was either deliberately edited at best, or he was using christian hearsay rather than roman records at worst. How can we tell? Roman records would have had Pilate's title right. He was a prefect, not a procurator. And, not suprisingly, this is the very same mistake the anonymous gospel writers made when referring to Pilate (indication they were not physically witnessing these events firsthand). The greatest roman historian of all time would have known this distinction, how, when and why the different offices existed, that one was a military office, and the other was a civilian office, etc. but lets put that aside. josephus? no mention of jesus prior to the third century. all manuscripts after that date though? magically included. this is standard practice throughout history. like how the church rewrote the ending of Mark in the 4th century, adding Mark 16:9-20, which didn't previously exist.

If you're gonna use this as evidence, you've gotta use the Pantera stone found at Römerhalle, the very same guy Celsus claimed fathered jesus. why use one ane not the other? bias. Pliny the Younger? This proves there was a cult of christianity. It isn't evidence of jesus, just like writings about Dionysus' (who also rode in on a donkey) cult existing isnt evidence Dionysus existed. Christians have this complete double standard, riddled with logical fallacies. you guys just the repeat the same iconic lines "all historians believe" (not mentioning that non-christian biblical criticism is a relatively new field and all prior criticism was done by christians themselves) or "the consensus is" isnt sufficient in a modern, digital age, where information isnt strictly controlled by publishers and scientific grants.

lets get into the text itself. if jesus was born in Nazareth, then he was not born in Bethlehem, and is not the Messiah. inb4 but what about the Bethlehem in Galilee If jesus is born in galilee, hes not born into the tribal lands of David, of the Tribe of judah. that land encompasses an area south of jerusalem, exactly where Bethlehem is. If he was born in Bethlehem, then we have to question the practicality of a woman whose 9 months pregnant travelling 140km, and why that would have been necessary. A roman census that required everybody to leave the lands they presently lived and return to lands of whatever ancestral tribe they identified with, where they dont even live? simply preposterous. the logistics of this makes zero sense, romans would have zero reason to indulge some ancient tribal geography, and it would be a bureaucratic nightmare, defeating the entire purpose of even conducting a census to begin with. never once do christians ask ever ask these simple questions or ahem.. notice, these simple little things. they just parrot the same lines, usually from the bible or repeated over and over and over by the church, as if training a puppy, show "all historians believe" locked Wikipedia articles, as if that somehow makes it true. the truth is christians cant handle criticism, unless its by other christians, nor debate, unless its from approved agitators. but the mythicist and critical view is so far ahead of christians at this juncture, and the evidence is so overwhelming that they've actually moved on to the old testament.

When I was younger, I had doubts about Jesus, as many do, and then read about Jesus’s half-brother, “James the Just.” When Jesus began his message, James didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah and thought he was crazy, but after Jesus’s death, he became a radical and faithful follower of Jesus and was a leader in the early church and was Killed for his faith. What did James witness that he was radically changed and willing to die for that belief? The answers we seek are in the Bible; you just have to find them. When they captured Peter and crucified him for his belief in Jesus he requested to be crucified upside down because he felt unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. There is only one answer, they witnessed Jesus be beaten and crucified in such an horrific way and then raised from the dead 3 days later.

Luke is the most historical Gospel not mark. Mark however was the first gospel written out of the 4. But Luke definitely gives the most accurate account being that Luke was a physician and an actual historian. Also the gospel state that Jesus had brothers and sisters. It’s not a bad thing to think Mary had other children. It doesn’t mean she was defiled. Mary was married to Joseph, and was in covenant with him as well. It doesn’t take anything away from her divinity to think she had other children. lol plus the Bible states she did. Other than that this was dope content! Share Jesus with Charlemagne!

@ that may be so and I’m not a catholic but I think we Protestant’s should pay more respect to her. She was chosen by God the same way the apostles were. She literally gave birth to God. That’s pretty incredible. I’d call it divine. The same way Paul is knocked off his horse on the way to Damascus. Loving Mary is no different than loving the Peter or John & it definitely doesn’t take away from Christ. I believe Mary knows she’s not God and there is only one God and all greatness and love is found in Christ Jesus. That’s my opinion. She knows the same truth that the disciples knew. But hey only worship Christ!!!! Also my opinion

As a Christian and not a catholic I think its only natural that Mary had relations with her husband, they were married and that doesn't make her "less saint". The idea of mary being a "saint" only means she was different or separated or the chosen one just like all Christians are but does not make her better than any of us, Jesus is the only one who deserves all the glory... that being said, thank you Mary for giving birth to our Savior! ❤ 17:50

I used to be pretty interested in the Jesus Myth theory but I've forgotten much of it. Anyway, here is my perspective: 1. The Tacitus quote is sometimes considered a medieval forgery, where snippets were added to make it seem like he is talking about Christ, when he is talking about another figure named Krestus, apparently a rebel leader. There were countless people executed in the Roman empire for sparking rebellions, one of them is bound to have a name similar to Christ. There were also lots of executed people named Jesus, though they have no connection to Christ. Tacitus is also writing a century after the alleged death of Jesus, and he is even writing after the Gospels were published. He doesn't mention any sources. There is no way to prove he wasn't just repeating the Christian lore which was floating around about Jesus. As you said, nobody questioned the historicity of Jesus back then. Neither would Tacitus, though he had no proof of it. He wasn't even born yet when Christ allegedly died. On top of that the quote might be a forgery. However, you'd have to investigate that issue further, I don't remember the details about it. 2. As you said, the Josephus passage about Jesus is also of dubious authenticity. It is considered a total or partial forgery by many experts. However, most people in the field are Christians or were taught by Christians and thus tend to be biased and not too skeptical. 3. The claim that James was the "brother of Jesus" is highly dubious as well. The Bible calls him "James Brother of the Lord". Christians may have been called "Brothers of the Lord" before they started being called Christians. Being called that might simply mean he was an ordinary Christian. The text never makes it clear that he was supposedly a biological brother of Jesus. Assuming James is the biological brother of Jesus is confirmation bias. You basically said the same thing yourself. Being called "Brother of the Lord" would not imply being close to a historical figure known as Jesus, but simply being a follower of the Christian religion. 4. Pliny doesn't prove anything about the historicity of Jesus. I'm sorry to say but you are grasping at straws. Does the existence of Finnish paganism prove that Väinämöinen was a historical figure? Clearly it doesn't. 5. The Gospels don't prove the existence of a historical Jesus. This should be obvious. Just because they mention some historical persons such as Pontius Pilate, doesn't mean they are reliable. Harry Potter probably mentions some historical facts about the UK. Does it prove Hermione Granger is a historical person? 6. The archeological evidence you gave proves literally nothing about the historicity of Jesus and they are all heavily contested anyway. Its not even established that "Nazarene" means being from Nazareth. It is also hypothesized that Nazarenes were a specific religious sect and that it doesn't refer to a town called Nazareth. 7. Regarding Paul's letters. Obviously many of them are considered forgeries. However, I'd be very surprised if none of them were authentic. The letters which are considered authentic that you mentioned, indeed describe a Christian creed. They say "Christ", was "crucified by the archons of this age" or "the powers of this age". This doesn't imply that there was a historical Jesus who was killed by Romans. In the Norse mythology Loki was chained from his guts in the under world while Odin was hung on the tree of life to conquer death. There are many stories about gods being crucified, imprisoned, hung or killed and resurrected. A believer in those religions would claim they believe in the hanging of Odin or in the imprisonment of Loki. That doesn't mean Odin or Loki were historical persons. None of the other resurrected gods have turned out to be historical persons either, so why would Jesus be any different? Let me ask you this. If Paul meant that Jesus was a historical person who was executed by the government, why didn't he say "Jesus was executed by the Romans"? Instead "was crucified by the powers of this age" might well just refer to satanic or demonic forces in a more abstract spiritual way. Paul never met Jesus. Instead he claims that he received a vision of Jesus. So how do his words prove that Jesus was a historical person, especially considering how he actually describes the death of Jesus? 8. The other arguments you give are incredibly weak. You say most scholars believe Jesus was a historical figure based on the bad evidence provided above. That's not a good argument, especially since almost everyone in the West used to be a Christian. Christianity is so prevalent in the culture that its no wonder most people barely question it. Not too long ago most experts in the field literally believed in miracles and were practicing Christians. Maybe most of them still do so. You say crucifixion was humiliating and therefore nobody would invent a religion based on it. But there are many other religions where the god is executed or imprisoned and is resurrected. I think its wild to simply assume nobody would invent such a religion. Are you really claiming Jesus is portrayed in a lame and non-badass way in the Gospels? No, he is portrayed in a very favorable light, trying to make him look as good as possible. 9. You should've tried to explain the mythicist case a bit better. Every aspect of the supposed life of Jesus is taken from the story of Moses or some other older part of the Bible, or from a pagan source from the neighboring regions. Nobody can point to even one part of his life which supposedly is verified to be historical. That should make you think. On top of that, the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus doesn't require him to be a historical figure at all. Paul said he saw a vision of Jesus being killed and resurrected. He never said it happened on Earth. There are several reasons to believe that the Gospel writers placed the story of Jesus in the historical setting only afterwards. It wouldn't be the first time such a thing happened in the history of religion. IN CONCLUSION: Jesus might have been a historical person. I watched this video because I was curious if there was some better evidence for his historicity. But it turns out, I had already heard all these arguments before, and none of them are actually good proof at all for his historicity. I think he probably never existed.

One more thing when you say about James not being his brother but just a close friend like we even say today hey bro. Why doesn’t he call the rest of the apostles brother but only James? And yes, Mary did have kids with Joseph after Jesus! James being one of them, although Joseph wasn’t the father of Jesus, but the rest of Mary’s kids were! Come on Mark you gotta break away from the catholic teachings that were corrupted by King James! You can be on fire for the Lord and it’s by humbling yourself before him, and asking him to reveal himself to you and ask him to send his Holy Spirit to dwell within you. It’s the same Holy Spirit that’s in the Trinity with God, the father Christ, the son and the Holy Ghost! Then read the Bible and a lot of of the stuff that you’re wondering about will start to make sense because then to Holy Spirit will speak to you to let you know it’s the truth you can feel it in your soul!
