I like Joey Badass. I wondered why Kendrick never included his name in the Control verse but I suppose he has never really had much exposure. He is talented but always had pretty low record sales. This east coast vs west coast thing is unnecessary in 2025. The beef last year should just make rappers want to step up their game, like Kendrick was basically saying in that Control verse. It would be nice to see Kendrick and Joey do another song together, like the '1 train' song they featured on with Asap Rocky.

Joey's always put himself in the company of Kendrick and other lyricists who rose around the time he did, that early 2010s period. I feel like he's mentioned this numerous times in freestyles or random verses. I don't see anything super serious with this. It wasn't overly wild, just rap bravado shit. More than anything I just hope the next Joey project has production that makes his wordplay shine. I'm a huge fan of his 1999, Summer Knights, Rejex, and Pro Era mixtape stuff. B4.Da.$$ and 2000 were okay to me and I didn't love All-Amerikkkan Badass. I'll probably always be a fan of Joey because of sentimental value, but I do want slightly better music.
