You missed a lot of features. If you click the logo in the middle, you get pre plugin in and out gain as well as mix and warmth (mid range) filter, i fyou click and drag on the lamp icon, you get entrophy, which offsets how exact the left and right side track. You can also access entrophy from the cog at the top of the plug in. Big GUI fail here, but it is a fantastic compressor once you find the hidden features.

There’s a few reasons for the interface being a replica of the original hardware and none are to do with usability and making music. They’ve replicated as far as they can on both the audio processing and the look. It can help in terms of marketing, and hell, it’s as close as I’m going to feel like I’m tinkering with a piece of mystical analogue gear. That being said, plugins that have a skeuomorphic interface REALLY SHOULD also have an easily accessible alternative, well thought out and efficient modern user interface. Give the user the best of both worlds -and I mean the best.

I have both : True Iron, and now: MHB Green. They sounds completely different. yes: they both gives this great distortion and warmth to the mixes, but again : True Iron - is an different transformers emulation, and sounds great. MBH Green has different character, and yes, - tube compressor emulation. And depending on the genre of the song or music,- they gives that 3D warmth to it. And most important: on the master bus i don't need to think too much, - just few plugins: 1. reso - repairing eq, 2. one of these great units ( Kazrog ), 3. EQ/ Dynamic EQ 4. Clipper/Limiter. DONE.

The complete opposite of these skudomorphic user interfaces is what Roland still uses on a lot of their gear: a “menu diving” style user interface. I.e. a rotary encoder that is also a pushbutton and that has a 2-line character LCD screen next to it. A device like the MC-101 actually has quite a few built-in plugins (effects mainly) but I’ve always got to look at the manual for the parameters.

the developers seem to be really conflicted in their philosophy. on one side, they mock dinosaur licensing dongles (good call, btw), and on the other side they include obnoxiously outdated hardware-based gui with a fully non-functional knob taking up space "just because it looks like the original"... like come on, i get stylizing plugins to look like some hardware but this did NOT need to be included. and furthermore, what's up with correctly greying out the treshold when non functional, but keeping the attack/release knobs working when non functional. pretty inconsistent
@KazrogPlugins6 күн бұрын
You're definitely not wrong to say any of this. In fact, the reason why attack/release are NOT grayed out when they're non-functional is actually a total oversight, and will be corrected in the next free update. Also, we'll be adding a non-skeuomorphic (but still well designed) UI option to this and all of our plugins soon.

@@KazrogPlugins thanks for the reply. it should be pointed out that i never came into contact with any of these legendary physical devices so it's not triggering any nostalgia on my part. thus i came into music production without any preconception. skeuomorphic design isn't bad by itself, for example knobs are in many ways more usable than sliders or numeric entries for several reasons. but i appreciate the fact that you lurk in the comments and collect feedback, you clearly care about your plugin :)
@KazrogPlugins6 күн бұрын
@@cURLybOi In this instance, there is only ONE known AWA G7201 Limiting Amplifier in existence, and it's the one Michael Brauer has that we modeled here. So, it's impossible for anyone to be nostalgic for something they've never even seen or used. For us at Kazrog, part of what we enjoy recreating isn't just the sound but the look of analog hardware, because it's often visually interesting and quirky. We like making plugins that have character, and we feel that the visuals help to represent and compliment the sonic character. That said, I think we're at a turning point in the industry where many producers out there share a similar sentiment to what you've shared here. We'll continue to find ways to imbue the user interface with character while improving usability, visual efficiency, and intuitiveness.

One funny useless knob for obvious symmetry's sake should make you laugh and enjoy, don't be so rigid, man! If you read the manual is not confusing at all and you just missed some cool hidden stuff on the MHB central logo and the analog entropy parameter on the green light or the setup menu. I demoed it before clicking buy against all my digital comps. UAD API 2500, 1176 and LA-2A collections, MJUC, Unisum, FirComp2, TDR ones, other ones less meaningful like shadowhills etc... Only Unisum with hygge on and MHB Green have "that sound". It behaves silkly, it grabs the transiens Olympically, 3D ness and aliveness... It has that "air"... I didn't need it, but it made a bunch of my comps gone to trash bin. I'm not the fan of signatures like CLA, Andrew, MHB etc. etc. Nor I'm looking for that sound or specific emulations, bus or mastering comp. Just the best ITB can possible deliver so far... and for me this is one of those jewels available in the market today. Easy to use, fairly light on CPU, aliasing free, I don't mind the ugliness and screws, I love and support small companies like Kazrog, Toneprojects, TDR, U-HE etc! I'm very happy with it!

I bought this after demoing the stereo bus presets some days back, the irony is I'm having a hard time using it in tracks. It does something to the stereo character that sounds unique and cool but it's hard to have it play well with other character boxes. Maybe I'm a sh!t engineer xD but that's been my experience so far. Btw, if interested in hardware I'd love to see you demo the G24 Passive Compressor by Gyraf. The thing is so smooth and transparent without the "falling asleep" character of a vari mu. i know you always hate those "analog" looking interface. but sometimes they are very handy that when you know the real unit that you find the settings you are looking for right away in a digital replika of it. Sure on such an easy Knob layout like on that unit its not a big deal but thinking of other units with more knobs and complex layout it makes a lot of sense. even for example you watch a video about the real unit it helps to navigate then in the digital version. i am sorry but your rage against the analog interface sometimes is a bit weird...
