@@Benedict_Savage I like watching Luka play, I don’t mind him having good games. But I’m not gonna let that change my mind on Luka being a cone on defense. Mavericks literally lost the Championship last year because Celtics kept attacking his lack of defense. Then about a week or two ago Mavericks lost a close game because Luka gave up a wide open dunk to the worst team in the West.

Headband Luka is scary
@martinblake2278Ай бұрын
If he maintains his slim version, he'll experience less injuries, he'll be faster, and he'll be the best basketball player by a looooooong mile. If only he has Lebron's body discipline, he will win the championship every year, no one can stop him, he is the best equalizer currently in the NBA. It doesn't matter how many superstars the other team has or if the opposing team has a better record. Against Luka, all those opponent advantages go away.

Iwould love to see a balanced attack even with Luka back in the lineup. He might take four or five shots less (if possible the really bad step back threes ;-) ) and live with 24 or 25 points per contest. Almost every superstar had to recognize that he won´t win it alone these days. If Mavs can keep up at least 5 double digit scorers every game it would make them a real tough contender. They have all the pieces, but actually I like the style they´ve played without Luka more than this iso ball... Great teamplay, sometimes it looks like european basketball wirthout their star european player actually 😎

lol! it's like telling klay to stop shooting 3s because he's struggling. that step back 3s is what makes him LUKA
@martinkoepke3005Ай бұрын
@@leoreoibardo9294 He could shoot step backs, but do you really think it is a good shot stepping back about 4 or even more feet behind the three point line for a step back. It is nice, when he hits that of coursem but his percentage on those shots is pretty bad and he could get better shots for himself or his teammates if he starts to attack the paint more. There is nothing special about hitting around 30 percent from step backs way behind the three point line. A step back should end just behind the line and you should hit at least upper 30s on that to make it a good shot. Luka is way better attacking and converting or finding his teammates off a drive actually. Great player no question, but this are the things he has to recognize and of course his coaches tell him that too, for sure.
@martinkoepke3005Ай бұрын
@@leoreoibardo9294 Luka is taking too many bad threes, therefore his percentage is down. A player who could literally get anywhere on the court should not rely of taking many deep threes.
@deni8814Ай бұрын
That step back should only be attempted at end of games, bail out possession, that should never be anyone's primary shot, I bet he shoots under 30% on that, we can get much better looks with Kyrie running the show and guys cutting, I hate that step back crap takes our offense out.
@martinkoepke3005Ай бұрын
@@deni8814 Pretty much exactly what I said, thank you man, appreciate your understanding of basketball. This team has so many weapons and it is a completely different game without Luka and actually pretty nice to watch. Hopefully they can figure out how to play that style even with Luka back in the lineup.

That is what has to happen to go all the way. Look at almost all the greats, they had to start giving away parts of the responsibility in order to win as a team. Jordan with the Bulls actually starting winning as he let Scottie emerge into a real second superstar, Jayson and Jaylen, LeBron and Dwayne, so many examples of the best guy taking a little step back in order to get his second guy and the rest of the team to be more threatening.
