Jamar is correct, unfortunately JJ didn't understand what he required. He's not a legal person, so didn't know the correct terminology. He wanted a legal rental agreement with his name on it so he could present it to the authorities to show he had accommodation that was suitable for his wife's application for a Green Card. It's one of the key things they look for. So he wanted a official documentation. He did not want any dodgy dealings

You guys really don't get it lol. I had to do a visa for a husband and this was required. Both names need to be on the property and submitted to Visa Global. Renting legally means 'names on the lease'. If you sublet, you can't apply for a visa. So his term is correct, I pretty much said the same thing to my estate agent 5 years ago. Hope that helps 😊

It's a requirement for bringing in international spouses on various visas. Secure housing...vs. temporary housing where you could be bounced like a temp shirt stay unit, an air bnb, motel provided for temp social service housing. So the term legal is odd, but perhaps secure/ stable housing in your own name is too fuzzy for immigration.

Not just a legal apartment but I needed a legal apartment to RECEIVE my wife? So many questions come from that. Whether she's a mail order bride, human trafficking, about to have an anchor baby, has a legal green card, you are a coyote smuggler, Jeez.
