I think I would have left the trimming of the llamas to the professionals, they get it done much faster with less stress on the animal and give whatever shots they may need and trim the hooves properly.

Brandon did the shearing last year for the Llamas and as he said it cost over $400 and the professional shearers don't give any shots to the Llamas and the hoofs get trimmed by a different person they have someone come to do that and the ponies

@@angelaknisell I'm guessing you are new people to watch their videos since he had a professional person do the hoofs of the ponies last year and I don't know of any of the other homesteaders that have spent thousands on chicken pens homesteaders are not rich people

Brandon you need to look up "right choice shearing". Watch how they shear a llama. They shear llamas alpacas and sheep down in Texas area. Watch how they shear and handle llamas. Maybe it will give you some ideas.

Brandon and Stephanie, what a great job on shaving the Llamas. It doesn't matter that the hair cut is perfect! All that is important is that the llamas are cooler in the summer. Like all livestock, you have to be calm but firm. As long as you're gentle and show them, you're not trying to hurt them. No reason why you can not shave/clip your own llamas. I remember the first time I shaved my male llama, he hated every minute. But when I was done I could tell he appreciated it! He came right back up to me like nothing had happened! It felt good that he still liked me! Lol! Great job, you do what you can for the animals! God bless ❤....😊

Excellent with Badger animals will always test you to see what they can get away with. If they smell fear. You have lost the fight. Your cool calm demeanor helps them relax. When they frighten or flight response triggered, you back off let them relax and that makes the trust bond stronger. Very very ❤❤❤

Brandon you did great getting the crazy animals. I watched this one lady sheer hers and she had a corner post she tied them to. And then on each side she had a fence and wall. And then she said she kept her leg in their side to keep them from pushing her around. I can’t remember who that was. I do however know you have to let them know who’s boss. Have confidence while handling them. I’d be scared. So I wouldn’t be able to do everything y’all do. The one and only way I know to an animals heart is treats! Yummy treats make everything better!

I agree with other comments about selling their hair. Try locally first after you find out what prices go for the fur. Socks looks gray now after you got all the white off. Badger--guess he forgot how good it felt last year when he was sheared. He is so beautiful in his coloring and pattern. Isn't it better to wear gloves when trapping, so the human scent is not noted by the predators. Leighton you do a really good job of explaining your steps.
