This is a rare sight … you don’t see them with the cape on ..normally they wear the big heavy military issue over coat and belt … I’m not sure if I like the looks of the cape .. but hey as long as it keep the chill off and keeps them dry that’s the main thing I guess

The protective capes are a good idea; keeps the rain/chill off and they're probably not as nearly heavy as the long coats used for colder weather. Best wishes from the Midwest!

Raining keeping the soldiers dry & their wool uniforms ! It would probably take them awhile to dry !❤
@timcubison9832Ай бұрын
@drumclean9384 it certainly does. All the Army's dress uniforms are made of very thick cloth made with wool. They are very warm but smell bad when wet and take forever to dry

It’s because they’re still in summer order, but the weather isn’t really…summery lol

Perhaps chilly for capes, but not freezing for their top coats? Both Montes Branches in their winter order! Interesting. Thankyou!❤😊

They are wearing capes because of the rain. The capes protect the rifles

1st May to 31st September is Summer uniform. 'The red tunics are called 'Home Service dress tunics'. These are worn in the summer months - April until October. During autumn and winter they change into great coats - long grey coats - much more practical for the weather they have to endure while standing guard outside Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

I’m former Scots Guards this is a wet mount for the Kings Guard as both Buckingham Palace and St James Palace mount the guard wearing capes and no regimental bands . Next month the Guards will change from summer order to winter order wear Greatcoats. 🔵🔴🔵

The capes are comparatively cheap compared to the staggering cost of their dress uniforms. 35 years ago I was told the cost of a Guard uniform was over £2000 so I shudder to think of the cost today. Once wet these uniforms have to be dried and ready for parade ASAP.

I realise adding new content daily is not easy so simplifying the process has it's advantages, but at the moment your videos are aesthetically pleasing but a little boring. You need to start a running commentary explaining the why's and what's of what we are watching. I hope I haven't offended you, it is simply constructive criticism.

Its a necessary evil in the climate we live in. It is a disappointment not to see the colours but best they stay dry at least. I just realized that they went into the King's residence so they would be mainly on outdoor duty since no barracks there for shelter so that could be the reason for the ponchos...Its the 1st time I've seen them.@@phoebebrown2883
