Definitely gotta say I 100% went into this game wanting to see how much hype I would get to see from it And honestly yeah, I can definitely see the hype and excitement for it coming on switch in general. This game strongly came to be my 2nd high ranked Paper Mario game played and I gotta say it does deserve it’s spot up there and honestly if I have to say I was curious to see how this game would compare to my top number 1 and also my favorite Origami King and it did share the same spot with TTYD but behind it ngl. I definitely not dislike this game far from it and would give it about a 7.5/10. Just minor things that kinda dump it down from being on par with TOK As for your critiques with this game I STRONGLY AGREE. By chapter 6 you can see nothing really happens there and unfortunate because I do love that chapter but many scrapped things got cut from that chapter such as a story element for the Smorg’s even existing was gonna be because of Beldam in the first place and the whole station has cut music which explains the silent ambience when you go through it. Especially Chapter 7 having possibly the worse part in the game having such a forced unnecessary backtracking sequence that does nothing for you than just be filler at the end of a goose chase. I do like battles a lot and how battles work but the problem I have with them comes into play of TTYD’s world design and that being how they’re just 1 lined paths going left and right without anything much you do there and not really open wide for it. The reason this makes battling a problem because you’ll have moments of going back and worth with enemies at you’ll encounter that instantly respawn after 1 area reset going off screen which make some chapters like 2,4,and 5, a slog to go around. And then comes chapter 3 a loved chapter by many but I really don’t like it because of the constant battles over, and over, and over again with nothing really changing during them. The battle conditions don’t really change anything either since most of the battles are simple enough already so it just felt like a unneeded side challenge for all of them and a waste of time to the battle over again if you mess it up. It’s like, a filler chapter with nothing much going on for it besides a minor mystery that comes and goes. Battle Balance is eeeeehh. Now I’m currently going through a 3rd game of ttyd just because my 1st and 2nd games with battling was, too strong I think. Seriously battles felt way to easy to get through to the point of even getting bored sometimes because, you can seriously break this game with how overpowered badges are and being able to destroy ANY battle in my way. Even the boss fights didn’t put up a threat even the final one I first tried them all. Which I will take 40% of the blame here on BOTH files after beating chapter 2 I went into the pit of 100 trials and beat them both on my first try (somehow) and had 50 HP and 50 FP throughout the whole game ever since and just level upped BP slowly which is why on this 3rd file I’m just…not doing that again not only because (I dislike the pit) but also because I don’t want a overpowered game like before and also doing things differently (such as actually upgrading my partners…y’know a game mechanic being the whole purpose of shine sprites). And I gotta say battles have definitely changed during chapter 3 making me have a better experience but the issue was still there the battles and the badges you get were just unbalanced and the game doesn’t seem to get harder as it goes on. Now this of course is just casual play so if I want a hard mode run then I’ll do it but then I’d just purposely making it hard just because it isn’t already vanilla game. BUT as I said these things I say about battles doesn’t make me dislike them or doing them at all to the point I ignore every single fight but it’s definitely issues I noticed when playing more. Characters are iffy. I like the designs the partners (Bobbery being my favorite just because he’s a Bob-omb) and the NPC’s are cool to see……for the first few minutes you see them. Through some chapters you meet them and then you just…leave ‘em at the start. So not much I gotta really say about NPC’s. For Partners, they’re cool introduction wise and battle wise but their character later on just…doesn’t exist. Not saying they don’t HAVE character but they lack character depth. You meet them and that’s all you get of their characteristics at the start after that they just chat along with you through the game and you don’t really learn more about them. Vivian and Bobbery are 2 great characters with depth added to them and I’ll say Koops as a honorable mention because he actually has more of a purpose through out chapter 1. Everyone else doesn’t really have what they have and that’s what really stands out about those 3 they actually have more going for them than the rest. Of course these don’t last long because as you beat the chapter those things aren’t mentioned again but they at least still existed and where more shown through the chapters. Just wish more went into the rest of the partners. *looks at Ms Mowz* eh I could take ‘er or leave her she’s not all that important. I know through this comment I don’t praise as much as critique but it’s because there’s not a lot else I have to say about TTYD for me. Everything comes out as a great outcome from the game. Maybe (greatly) poorly written so that’s my fault sorry about that but I just can’t speak of anything else I can’t say I like about this game without sounding like…well everyone else, because of everything you said basically has things I can agree upon and that’s just that. I got nothing else besides to say TTYD is a Great Game and a Great Paper Mario game. Honestly I don’t have anything else to say about it but just so hey, Good video on this game and hope it actually gets noticed because even if short it really does get points out well (WOW this is possibly the longest comment I’ve ever written on KZbin). Keep doing good man because this video went great!
