I think the problem with PC Principal is that you only have that much you can do with him. He is a one sided one note character, although they did an amazing job with him thus far. I think something integration they could do. Is talk about how a lot of the 2000s progressive ideas kind of contradict what progressives advocate for now. I can name a few examples but I will name two about gender since that is what most of PC principles dialogue is about. A lot of 2000s feminist argue that the trans movements reinforces gender roles. A lot of trans people say that they transitioned because they were a woman who enjoyed the boy stuff, but back in the 2000s feminist argued that it was ok to be a woman who liked that stuff and you shouldn't have to change to partake in these interest. On a similar note old guard feminist argued there were no brain differences between men and women. The scientific argument for gender dysphoria though hinges on there being differences between male and female brains.

In a way, he’s kinda already getting that. Episodes like Board Girls show PCP learning to accept nuance in situations and not immediately jump to the most “PC” conclusions. The episode with Jimmy is also a good example, as Jimmy challenges PCP with the idea that you don’t have to be “PC” to be a good and respectful person to those who are different from you, and it’s more about unpacking personal biases than pandering to said people. Not to mention that episode’s commentary on censorship and how it hurts marginalized communities to act like they can’t even handle a simple word and to go out of your way to demand it be censored.

Speaking of being uncomfortable with people who are disabled, as someone who is both physically and mentally disabled I'm treated by others like I'm infected with some disease or something. It has lately made dating especially difficult because the women I've tried to date cut and run when they either find out I can't get a regular job and am self-employed or they realize it's not something I can just turn on and off. I used to be more understanding of it, but honestly it just frustrates me to no end that not only can I not pursue the things I love (the physical disabilities came later in my life and stop me from being active and independent) but my mental disabilities that I was born with also make me such a pariah that the only goal I have left to possibly pursue, which is to get married and hopefully have a family or at least have a wife, is made all the more difficult. I'm 30 now and I'm so damn tired of being alone and having every relationship I've ever had end because my disabilities aren't convenient for others. I don't force anything about them on anyone and I can care for myself minus that I can't drive and I'm self-employed, but quite frankly being disabled the way I am has made my life a miserable hell and I'm sick of it sucking. Sorry to complain here, I've just had it especially rough lately and I have nothing good in my life and it's all been hitting me harder lately.

my personal always saved grace of liking those episodes of the PC Principal, and Jimmy is obviously Jimmy, everything else just sucks, but every line that Jimmy says I love
@ripcactusify Жыл бұрын
i actually think PC principal is a pretty good character, he's becoming more fleshed out with a personality and stuff. PC culture is a thing thats just gonna exist, that's not going away so it makes sense that he'll still be here. Trans, gays, and other minorities are gonna be around and it's nice to have somebody tell the other characters that it's okay for them to exist, even if it meant scaring them at first in the typical south park fashion.
@Skycrusher Жыл бұрын
It's not though. Shame exists for a reason. People feel shame as a way to let them know what they are doing is wrong. Just because you try to teach people to not feel shame for what they do, doesn't make it any less wrong. But go ahead and warp entire generations of people to live their life the wrong way and wonder why they join the 42%.

If you think PC culture is simply explaining that social minorities exist, you’re sadly mistaken. It’s witch hunting with hair dye.

I think PC Principal should have been a one season character. Instead of saving the town of South Park from the ads the finale should've been PC Principal realizing that all of his efforts to transform South Park into his idea of a tolerant town were all for nothing. He should've packed his bags and left. Instead they decided to double down on his antics by introducing a feminist take on his own world views and then with the PC babies it boils down to PC being a child's logic of how social justice really works. We need a middle ground. Otherwise the tolerant become intolerant of others based on superficial traits. Such as race disparities between black and white people. Or hispanic people. Like when PC Principle instead of acknowledging a normal conversation between two friends he saw a white man being racist toward a person of color. Which led him to assault the person he was defending when he got called out for this.

They should introduce an opposite end to PC principal, such as maybe? An anti-woke character of some kind, while the character Reality acts as an antagonist to both PC principal and the hypothetical anti-woke character and that could introduce some sort of satire.

I am a very vocal critic of modern South Park (I define modern South park as 2016 and onwards when social commentary and serialization started to take precedence over singe simple lots and and more free form jokes). I didn't mind PC principle TBH. I love how the same people who hated him were the same clapping seals who thought tegridy farms was god's green gift to comedy and that Randy Marsh was the deepest character in all of fiction. Then again I never really disliked Towlie either and most of the South Park fandom loathes him. I don't know why because IIRC correctly before Tegridy farms he wasn't in that many episodes and his episodes were usually spaced out so in my opinion he never had enough time to overstay his welcome.
@princesspikachu3915 Жыл бұрын
The only thing I liked about the Tegredy Farms plot was Towlie. I used to like Randy but I think they took him way too far off the deep. But Towlie was good at grounding Randy in those episodes. That’s just my opinion from what I saw of that season.

The only people who get mad at South Park for progressing are South Park fans. I never understood the fuss about "old South Park" when the show literally changes and progresses every season. You've just gotten old and jaded.

i think that PC Principal and Strong Woman are necessary representations to provide the type of social commentary that South Park is known for. i’m a leftist radfem at a prestigious left leaning school, and can see how most progressive representatives are white men & women. sometimes they drown out minority voices (like mine since im a black woman) and can seem performative. this shows in PC Principal & Strong Woman’s characters. they all have good intentions and it’s important to show how the views of young people are becoming increasingly progressive.

FUN FACT! It would've been better if they had a throw away line about how trans men have been forced into women's wrestling before, and often dominate the competition. It would've been even better had they pointed out that trans women almost never even get second place, and everyone who "speaks out" about them either is or knows someone who ranked under them despite them often doing worse than the majority.

PC principal was a breath of fresh air, he honestly was a great catalyst for South Park to address modern issues in schools especially. They took a one note character and gave him an arch, strong woman is great too. They humanized these archetypes to me.

@VampirePrinceKRS Жыл бұрын
wait. he's supposed to be a villain? I never minded him. I do miss Victoria but am very glad they didn't kill her off to put PC in charge. they seem to enjoy killing off a lot of female faculty members. the males get to sit back & become back round characters but if you're female faculty it's highly likely you're dying when your use/episodes are up. I'm guessing that's because of the limited number of voice actors they use but it never sat right with me.
@lexyruse603 Жыл бұрын
They've only done that to TWO female teachers. Well also the bus driver but honestly I never liked her anyway. And I feel like both the teachers dying were to in a way mirror each other because both teachers had a prank pulled on them by the boys that didn't actually result in their death. I think the deaths of the teachers have less to do with them being female and more to do with Mr. Garrisons job is just cursed. He's always gonna come back.
