Stems? VDJ has the cleanest stems on the market if we're being honest. Rekordbox stems was an embarrassment so yeah they need a lot of help in that department.

The saddest thing above all is every gear you buy, it doesn't unlock full potential just like that. For example, I got 2 players + mixer, invested 6000€ and got nothing, not even the lite version of anything with cdj2000s. 😅

Pioneer has been including Serato in their products for a while now so I see this as an improvement. I think they'll focus on updating Pioneer's flagship models and Rekordbox while keeping Serato as a more budget-friendly option.

If Serato merges with RekordBox, and allows a Serato library to work on CDJ3000’s, then I’ll stick with Serato. If not? I’m jumping fully into the Denon ecosystem, as someone with a X1850 and 2x LC6000’s I’m using with Serato. All I need is 2x SC6000’s.

Unfortunately, the Denon ecosystem doesn't support DVS. For now anyway.

@@djsubculture2786 that’s gotta be a pretty damn small slice of the market. I’m sure Alpha Theta wants Serato’s code for stems more than anything else, or else they’re going to risk falling behind Denon.

Not sure how I feel about, I have always like Pioneer equipment but never been a fan of Rekordbox other than for prepping USBs or SDs. Not a fan of the subscription plans either. I have used Serato for years and if using software with the decks I think it looks better, works better and something I became used to. I used a controller for a few years but mostly on CDJs now. Will be interesting to see what happens but I can’t see a good long term future for serato.

As a serato user this video is probably accurate on my fears. 1 being forced into subscription software which is ok if you make an income from DJing but for the millions of people that don't why should they have to pay huge amounts of money just to use their own equipment 2. Being forced to use a different software and all the admin on my tracks (checking and correcting beat grids, saving loops queue points etc) is lost as this has involved listening to every track in full to start this again will take a huge amount of time just to get back to where I am before I can add new track. 3 after being used to how serato works having to learn everything again as will start having to use new software.

I just want to see the drastic move InhMusic will make to ensure a strong controller platform fro their stuff. Buy VirtualDJ and integrate with Engine DJ maybe?

This news seems and smells like it will go sour real quick. As I have Rane gear that unlocks Serato DJ Pro. At the very least, I feel I will have to pay extra in the future, plus I have many expansions that will be at risk. Also, I feel in my gut that the development of new Rane products will come to a screeching halt if Rane has to consult the new owners of Serato. I try to be positive, but this looks like a bad forecast. I guess its no need for me to look for any more updates. Hopefully, InMusic has a backup plan in terms of Software.

@@ReallyChrisM I used Engine with my older Denon controllers from 2012 to around 2018. It was decent software and way before the current upgrades. Serato has been my main daily driver since... If they leave Serato just like it is now with features and my mixer unlocking it without a subscription, I will be cool for life. Wishful thinking on my end though!

I laughed when I saw the Hercules logo. I do use Hercules and DJUCED software as I have the Hercules Inpulse 200 controller for my daily practices. When I have a more clear idea of track analysis and set preparation, then I mix on my Denon SC Live 4. Stems have been added to Hercules/DJUCED, but the frequencies aren't as good separated as they're in Serato stems. For example, I remove vocals but some parts can be still heard. 😂 I guess that it's a similar case in Rekordbox. Regarding inMusic, I've read that stems have been added as a beta version on the Denon Prime 4+. I guess that it's a matter of weeks or months to be spread to all other brands like Numark, Rane, other Denon controllers, etc. In that case, if those stems sound good enough, I'll stick with Engine DJ. I won't depend on Serato anymore. Anyway, less competitors is always a bad thing for customers as prices tend to increase and innovation gets stuck 😢

its such a struggle to answer your question. I am excited that we might be able to merge two of the best platforms. I am an RBX user. I started w Serato. I see the benefits of both, however I won't leave RBX no reason to do so thus far even though I see stems as an example of why Serato has some better spots. I think preparation and managing music is the most important so RBX I am. Merging them is a big win, however if they do dominate the market to an extent they do get to call the shots. So in my dream world, one of the smaller orgs steps up their competition to keep it competitive allowing me to get the win win lol. Let's see where this goes

Hi have recently gone from Traktor Scratch to Pioneer XDJ XZ have had a go using Rekord box and Serato on it. Is it best to stick with rekordbox now and also for the control vinyl over Serato?

If Pioneer was to elevate the interface and merge user friendlyness (?) of Recordbox & Serato, I can see advantages in this deal. Besides that, I'm too unfamiliar with Serato in terms of it's benefits compared to Recordbox...I always associate it with Rane / vinyl DJ's lol.

I think Serato will be always the brand for Scratch DJs and people who play with DVS. Rekordbox is and stay the choice of the PRO when it comes to Database Management. They will control the Market and maybe Competition will not be able to use Serato in the near future. Smart Move from Pioneer to stay Number 1 in this Field

I have been a serato user since i had my first controller and this can be very sad news for us (serato user’s) but at the same time Pioneer can do something great with it. Only time can tell us what will happen, but something i can say it’s that nothing good is coming for us

Just wondering? Will Rekord box be available for rane four now that pioneer owns serato ? I’m not a professional DJ just a guy that plays around at home.For fun .. Does everyone think serato days are over ? Or will they rename the platform to Serato box !

Serato needed to be bought out by someone. Its very good software, but only when it works. Everyone seems to forget why RB got so big in the first place. Serato and NI were practically forcing customers to switch to RB. I left Serato about 4 years ago. Back then, on Serato's discussion forums, everyone was searching for a 2012 Macbook with certain options that seemed to be the most trouble free computer to run the software. I threw RB on a run of the mill Windows machine. For the last 4 years I haven't had a single issue, even when I upgraded to new versions. A few weeks ago, I went back to the Serto discussion forums just to see what people were saying about the company being sold. 4 years later, and they're still looking for 2012 Macbooks.

to me it is clear. Inmusic + serato = Strong Pioneer competitor. I think for the short term, we will see everything 'as is' but down the line we will see serato's good bits integrated into Rekordbox and then, merged as one application. The level of control this will bring, could very well kill off alot of products. EngineOS is strong enough to survive on its own. Perhaps we may see a desktop version like rekordbox? certainly though in the short term as of now, those who will be thinking about buying a product will almost certainly think Pioneer, due to buying something Serato compatible only might be a 'risk' in their eyes. Of course the merged rekordbox could well restrict features such as stems only to Pioneer equipment... Another theory here is product abandonment, why support the Rane One when you already make the Rev7/Rev1? So much to talk about. All speculation

I don't trust Rekordbox for live performances. Too much crash risk (and actually it happend a lot on Twitch). Serato is so stable for live performances but the integration with the Pioneer gear is not very good. If they can put the Serato technology in Rekordbox...

We DJs are going to find that less competition is always bad. Pioneer has a monopoly and the only ones that can make it go away is us. And I say this as someone that uses Mixxx as his main software.

I can see SRT getting small incremental updates... then it will just get left behind. I think PDJ just wanted stems, and really not much else. Rekordbox will no doubt improve exponentially. I prefer RB so no big deal for me, but for everyone else...?

I'm sure stems was a part of it but there are way more standalone companies like HitnMix that specialize in Stems that AT/Pioneer could have purchased for likely much cheaper. Part of it has to be some power grab in the industry, and I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted it to also help improve their DVS support. Who knows, as much as we all love to hate Pioneer at times, I'm really hopeful that this will put them into an era of innovation again...

I do not see why both cannot benefit? I mean if you were that much the expert then Pioneer should have hired you. I personally do not care because I will use whatever. I learned on records and decks, so if both of them failed, it makes me no difference. The only reason these platforms matter is because it took so much space and expense to carry and store vinyl..

Serato needed to be bought. There's too many problems with the software. Too many people, myself included, were forced to leave. Rekordbox couldn't have gotten as big as it is today without help from Serato and Native Instruments. RB went from being my 3rd choice to my only choice. Pioneer didn't buy RB for the reason everyone thinks. They bought it because they didn't want the company that owns Rane/Denon and Numark to buy it. They don't need the software for stems. Its a feature no one saw coming because NI had if for years and no one cared. Pioneer threw it in so they weren't the only major DJ software that doesn't have the feature. They'll get it working right. Serato isn't going anywhere. I think they'll fix some of the problems and support it for the next 10+ years. If they just throw it away and leave Serato customers all over the world unsupported, everyone would hate Pioneer. Even non Serato users.

If this is the case then i will definitely be going denon as they dont charge for streaming and are being unfair to people who cant afford a subscription. Pioneer is like apple when something is wrong you are expected to pay to fix it where as android it is free. I have the flx 6 because it was within my budget range as i needed a 4ch controller with full size jogs and pioneer was the only manufacturer to produce a controller with thoes features for the price. I love rekordbox and use serato but if they want to be money grabbing assholes then im swaping over. As i dont care what i mix on because it is all the same principle across all dj companies but when it comes to paying extortionate amounts of money for a subscription in which most people wont get their moneys worth unless they are a professional then its not worth it.
