It's kinda sad how we say respect the dead and don't walk over graves and yet let them crumble, get overgrown, use stones as paving, it's really sad it me, like one time I was at Llandaff Cathedral and some graves were practically impossible to get to without climbing through so much foliage and stuff, it's sad how many graves get forgotten :(

Hi Brenda from Arkansas, USA here. I’m interested in Cemetery exploration. I enjoyed your walk through. The damaged graves are sad. Unfortunately, families die off, move away or just don’t care anymore. It happens to graveyards all over the world, I suppose. I’m physically disabled and have difficulty clearing my family’s graves. I’m the only one in the family who still cares. I’m impressed by the emblems, artwork and beautiful lettering on the stones in the video. I thought it was Medusa too, but no snakes. Wow, the views are amazing ❤. 😊

That little room was probably for coal. When the cemetery first started there must have been a lot of grave robbers around. That was the whole purpose of tabletop headstones. To keep the bodies IN and the grave robbers OUT.

What a glorious place to spend eternity! It's a wonderful part of the world. Isn't it sad to note how many small children's gravestones there are from the Victorian and earlier periods in history? Parents had large families but with the expectation of losing some of them long before they reached adulthood. Thanks so much for explaining the symbolism of the tree with a cross on one stone. It did seem a little out of place for one so young. Further reading by me showed it can also mean immortality, so maybe that's why it was chosen. I was fascinated by the grave with the Heath Robinson arrangement of plastic bottles, solar lights and dinosaurs! As much as the adornments, the separate little added inscription to Dennis Edwards(?) who it seems died in 2016. Maybe he was the dinosaur fan? Had the grave been hijacked to provide a little memorial to him? A truly lovely 'dead good walk'!

Word that came to mind is Jumbled :) Arches and keyholes are symbolic of passing through the veil. Portal between earth and afterlife. Freestanding, arched around tombstones, arched over church doors and windows, are all references to this. Having a cross in the center of an arch is clear indicator that this person 'went to heaven through Christ'. Love this graveyard. Some seem to have a much more peaceful energy about them than others.

Horatio Nelson Gartside was a member of the Gartside Family are thought to have owned land in Friarmere since the dissolution of the monastery’s in the 16th century and lived at Friarmere Lodge. I'm guessing because its on a hill the church itself has a very large crypt, and all crypts have to have a vent to vent out the methane and cumulation of digestive gases. I almost want to say that little building on the side is the receiving end where bodies are lowered in aside from going in from the middle of the church. So you're likely pointing into a vertical shaft... that may have long been abandoned for that purpose. So to what's intermittently blocking it, I have no explanation for that
