There is no way the CIS, with all its multi-billion credit member corporations, couldn't have afforded to mass produce more expensive droids like the advanced spider droid rather than just the regular ones and cheap units like the B1. Lucky for Palpatine the whole galaxy was willing to believe they'd just be cheapskates.

When I think of the dwarf spider Droid I think of it as basically and IFV. It has the equivalent of a 40 mill cannon, so it can take out infantry in one shot it can hit weak points on a tank or armored vehicles and then it can be subsequently used since it's such a stable platform as anti-air.

A video on Dwarf Spider Droids! Awesome. I love those little guys. 3:35-3:50: So Dwarf Spider Droids can self-destruct? Who knew, besides Geetsly obviously. You know, I think I just found what's going to kill Jedi Master Ausar Auset while a Morgukai has him pinned in my idea for a Siege of Saleucami fanfic. Thank you for that, Geetsly. :) Also, I don't think there are too many well-known Droid models left, I think you've covered all the major ones used by the Separatists, so I guess now we'll get into the less well-known ones, although, we already did one of those lesser know models in the Scorpeniok Droids, but I'm sure there are others out there.

Depends on the Droids in question. In some cases sure. Cyber attack dogs and shock assault roles made for a better use then cannon fodder and for something that to a degree semisentient or fully sitting around only getting out when to be a show of force piece to project an show off power cant imagine is very exciting or fulfilling to said droid or its owners alike.

It's not just me who saw the artwork of the A-DSD1 Advanced Dwarf Spider Droid and noticed a few similarities to the crab droids, right? My theory is that the A-DSD1 and the crab droids filled the same niche, but the crab droids were cheaper to produce and more effective than the A-DSD1s were, so commanders requested crab droids and manufacturers didn't make too many A-DSD1s.

The octuptarra droid has the same usage and being even rarer to see,and it's hard to see those three droids fight together. My theory is those droids are on the same producing priority yet present different factions of CIS, so each faction prefer their own version of droids and thats why those droids hardly fight in the same front.

But they don't fill the same niche? ADSD1s are heavily armoured and could take on a lot of firepower and hold a main battle line. Crab droids are strictly anti infantry in small skirmishes, with maybe the larger 6 legged variant doing ok in other circumstances, but it would get wrecked by commando grenades launchers let alone proper anti-tank kit.

The CIS droid army is literally the best military in Star Wars. The only people who think it was crap simply didn't pay attention in the films, because the corporate leaders who control the CIS are pro-Sith/pro-Republic and had no interest in winning the war, they simply played the Sith game and earnt as much money from it as possible.

That is until I am on the bridge of a KDY ship and an A wing is about to crash into the bridge, at which point I'd regret not being on a Providence with escape pods just outside the bridge 😅
