8:17 Crab Droids seemed mostly be used for training at imperial academies, while Dwarf Spiders saw use as checkpoint guards and support weapons. Though i imagine by the time of the Warlord especially the late Warlord eras the Empire was using whatever it had.

The little-known benefit of the Crab Droid's mud launcher is that it caused the Clones to take mini-crits for 8 seconds if it hit. Unfortunately, the Clones began wielding a "jar-based martial art form" in response. The battle droids unionized and Palpatine had to ban the Clones from doing it.

If the Separatist holdouts have a few dozens of crab droids, the Empire will have no choice but to resort to the orbital bombardments before the Death Star becomes a thing. And even then, significant consideration needed to be taken if the planets have to be locating on vital hyperspace routes.

You’re rather confused. Many species evolving upon the crab body plan (all of which being crustaceans) is called Convergent Evolution. Evolution is NOT weighted in favour of crabs, people have just disproportionately focused on the crab example of convergent evolution because there was a meme about it at some point. The crab body plan was simply the most efficient body plan these species could achieve with the selective pressures being placed upon them.

Military arsenal diversity is nice, but let's face it, this is admittedly the biggest failing of the Seppers in my opinion, this gimmicky notion. At least the Republic and the Empire were built mainly on the more comfortable angle of solidarity and homogeneity. That aside, I have a bigger bias for the Dwarf Spider Droid, I guess.

I think the thing is that the Separatists needed more diversity of things that *mattered*. Crab Droids, Spider Droids, and Tridroids where different, sure, different number of legs, but they basically did the same thing on the battlefield. Spindly legged turret. Each could be replaced with two B1s pushing a heavy blaster on a cart and you'd get more firepower moving faster. They should have focused on making more budget friendly versions of the Sniper Droideka and Hailfire Droid. They needed big guns on fast platforms, not small guns on slow platforms.

They needed legged variants of the MTT and AAT to match the AT-TE. Things no amount of wit and acrobatics is going to take down without dedicated counter arms.
