Did y’all forget Taurus GX4’s were recalled for not being drop safe 6-9 months ago? Taurus has had so many issues over the years and 10-20 years ago they were the laughing stock of the industry. They have come a long away but like I said, just 6-9 months ago they had guns release that weren’t drop safe. That’s a problem. People don’t hate on them for the name or price, they hate on them because THEY ACTUALLY KNOW FIREARMS AND ABOUT TAURUS AS A COMPANY and the people who say that clearly do not. Go look at the recalls over the years. Google it. I love my gx4,g3c, spectrum and Tx-22. But guess what? I can be real, honest and objective, that’s something the world struggles with nowadays. It ran 250 rounds. That’s nothing. We ran 1000 through our pistols this morning in an hour and a half. We will see once we get a real round count through it. People thinking 250 rounds is a lot or a good test is just crazy. We will have this to 1k+ rounds here shortly. Stay tuned. Don’t get offended by truth and honesty. That recall list is long long. Respect. When my life is on the line, or my beautiful wife’s life is on the line or my 3 children, I trust the handguns that i have thoroughly tested. I have a Glock 26 that ran 14k rounds, was cleaned only 6 times. No hiccups.

It's built to hit a certain price point, the person that needs a $250 gun is not going to run thousands of rounds through it. Hopefully, they'll run a box or two to check for function. Then load it up and keep it in their nightstand for protection. Kudos to Taurus for making a gun to get into the hands of EVERYONE who needs one.

@spnfirearms I agree, but I believe a significant portion of gun owners buy 1 gun "to feel safe" and never make the effort to get good training or practice frequently enough. I'm a big 2A ambassador, and out of the dozen or more people I've helped buy their first gun, I haven't seen more than 1 or 2 go beyond that. They're satisfied going to the range once, getting a lesson from me on safety, function, and basic shooting skills, then they're done. They aren't interested in coming to practice when I invite them to future range trips.

@@spnfirearms Even more scary, I was in law enforcement for over 20 years, a very large agency. 90%+ of the cops I worked with only shot their guns at the yearly qualification. They didn't practice on their own, and very few would seek out additional training. I thought that was insane, I wanted to be as proficient as I could be with a tool I may need to defend my life with 1 day.

Mark my words, the GX2 is going to be a massive success. It is built on the GX4 platform. As Taurus releases more SKU’s of the GX2 with optics-ready options, ported/comped slides, & modular grip frames at roughly *half* the cost of its competition, people will buy them. Taurus won’t be able to manufacture them fast enough. People won’t care about rough machining as long as the guns are durable, reliable, comfortable, sexy looking, & inexpensive. All indications are that Taurus nailed all of these things.
@Powernoodle_
@Powernoodle_ 13 күн бұрын
Recap of the video: SPN doesn't like the way the GX2 or the mags look, so he declares that they totally suck. He makes up in his mind that the mag spring is too weak and the slide finish is horrible, but both ideas are proven wrong. He finds ticky tack things to say about the machining, which no one except him seem to care about. Then, much to SPN's shame and disappointment, the gun shoots great and is reliable. SPN does not conform his opinion to the facts, and prays that the gun will become unreliable or break so his wrong opinion can be made right. The result is that now I want a GX2 more than ever.

It really amazes me that a person can purchase a reliable firearm for $250, it runs flawlessly at the range with zero malfunctions and people complain that it isn’t made to the specs of a $4000 precision firearm. Most people will never in the lifetime of owning the firearm put thousands of rounds through it. In case you didn’t know I’ll let you in on a secret. “RANGE AMMO IS LETHAL” fmj ammo is what is issued in the military not hollow points. I think that too many people want everything for close to nothing. When was the last time that after a self defense shooting scenario someone looked inside the firearm at the internals. Let me help you “IT DOESNT HAPPEN!”

If your biggest complaint is rough/ jagged edges, will those not smooth out the more the gun is run? I’m only 4 minutes through but the gun has had zero issues. Maybe the gun has major issues later on but up until now I would advise law abiding citizens who don’t have a lot of money to spend on a gun to buy this pistol. The last thing I would tell them is to miss a rent payment to buy a SIG that rust at 4 times the price and also discharges on its own from time to time. I’m about good people being able to protect themselves even when they don’t have $900 to drop on a firearm. I’m open to figuring out which guns are just bad but 4 minutes in I’m seeing a flawless affordable pistol with ZERO problems.

I bought a GX2 for $249.99, and today January 15 is the last day for a $25 Taurus rebate. So I am paying about $225 for this gun. I don't know what went wrong in SPN's head, but except for SPN's GX2 running 100%, basically everything in his review is 180% out of phase with reality. The machining on this gun is good - on par with any other polymer wondergun. The mag springs are stiff, unlike what SPN said. It has run 100% with FMJ and defensive ammo. Feels fantastic in the hand. The trigger is slightly below average for a striker gun, but I'm totally cool with that. For my average man hands, its exactly the right size for concealed carry because I get a full 3 finger grip with no wasted space. The mags look and feel well-made. My G3C mags are made in Brazil too, so I don't know what SPN is crying about. Honestly, this is a great gun. See G Squared Tactical's excellent KZbin review about cleaning the GX2 after a torture test. He left it soaking in mud and water, and there was not a drop of rust anywhere to be found. Come on, guys. Get yourself a GX2. You know you want one! 😃

I think we are all missing some points here, this gun isn't meant to replace the GX4 or the G3C, this is to replace the G2C. The G2C for a few years now have been the unofficial "beginner gun" at a lot of gun stores, all the GX2 is meant to do is be the new "entry" level gun for new firearm owners and replace the G2C the GX4 and G3C are still the top Dawgs, but I think this guy was released to be the new gatekeeper so Taurus could retire the G2C finally. But that's just my opinion. Another thing, these are just first set of guns to be released, I'm sure as time goes on, they will square away all the issues.

If you also look at the design, it's a whole new design but still similar to the gx4. Taurus used the same design for many years with the g3c, g2c, millennium series, etc. before making the new design. Is the G3C going to be replaced? Most likely not. Also looking up Taurus with Google, they still arm the Brazilian military and police forces. The stipulations of those contracts are that the guns must be made in Brazil with Brazilian workers. Like others have said, this is not the gun you pass down to your kids. This is the gun you beat the tar out of or stash away like a tool box, truck gun, shower gun, maybe a boat gun but I'd cerakote it first before doing that

Love ya SPN but $250 Foreign Pistol w 2 mags, that was on ship and docks through varying temperatures & moisture w Grease, runs flawlessly even though you didn’t CLEAN out Grease and put CLP that protects parts & barrel hood like you should, compares to $550 pistols made in Georgia, yet has way better Texture, Ergos, & Trigger....to this older man that wants more good people carrying protecting each other and 2nd Amendment I call that a major win. To everyone's always clean and CLP your New Pistols, hand wrack slide 100 times, & break in w hot ammo not pud 115 and you'll be amazed at all the problems you avoid instead of thinking a Ferrari shipped from overseas is ready to race w 87 octane and not letting engine, injectors, hoses all break in first 300 miles before gunning it. Hopefully I'll get my next week, perfect for new woman I'm dating that wants external safety, or magically might be great for me when I put Carry slide on it and run with my Carry MecGar mags too! Hope you don't mind some pushback SPN but sometimes older perspective helps. That grease you leave in will gunk up w none cleaning and of course micros rely on proper slide velocity more than full size thick slide loose glocks.

You bought a $250 gun. You got a $250 gun. This thing competes with High Point. Someone spending $250 on a gun will likely never put 1,000 rounds through it. It will get thrown in a glove compartment, a sock drawer, or dumped at a crime scene. I bet Taurus knew exactly how to leave just the minimal amount of cost in the gun to make it work for what they see as the maximum lifetime of the gun (in rounds.) That said, it will probably always be reliable enough to fire 27 rounds without failing (two mags + 1 in the chamber.) For a lot of people, that's all they need out of a handgun.

Have you ever looked at the rails of a Walther PDP? smallest rails I have ever seen on a double stack gun. they are very short and skinny. This gun has very long rails which 99.9% of guns don't have, most have like 4 small 1/2 length rails at best. 1911 stye and CZ hammer fired run full length chassis rails like this. wear on barrel front can be normal on alot of guns. the lock up pivot point is the most crucial. I can grab the slide and frame on a Walther PDP and has more slop and movement than any gun I have owned or shot yet they are very accurate as it is just the lock up pivot point that is crucial. If a person were to lightly debur the rail on this with fine sand paper or scotch bright and oil well it will still probably out last most hand guns out there.

@@spnfirearmsIt is bad when something like a gun that can kill you or someone else is released with a flaw like not being drop safe. Recalls aren't a bad thing in and of themselves. Taurus needs to do better for sure. The Gx2 uses the same fire controll as the Gx4 so I hope it will not have the same issue.

I respect and appreciate your channel bro. Channels like yours inspire what I want to do with my channel. In saying that, I hope anyone buying a 'cheap' Taurus has no plans on keeping it for decades and putting 1000 rounds through it. I have a huge collection of pricey firearms and a collection of budget guns. My budget guns work just as well as my expensive ones. The Taurus GX2, being a first-generation model, will likely have bugs that need to be worked out. I will wait for a second- or third-generation model before buying. My budget firearms have thousands of rounds through them without any issues. Thank you for your honest review. It is good that you pointed out the firearm's poor build quality. My Taurus PT709 Slim had jagged parts. I took that into a Smith and they smooth out all the parts . The pistol has a 2,000 round count. If you notice jagged parts then smooth them out or take it to a Smith problem solved.

one of the things to go is going to be your firing pin safety, the little circular piece, once it locks up it jams the slide stuck I have found in the mil pro series have to clean and replace spring, sounds odd I know but it will bind the slide, theres a geometry with the bar the trigger and that piece, the other thing Ive seen is chipped extractors, not the ejector, the sharp part on the extractor will chip

Having put my hands on one of these guys in the shop, that grittiness is not unsual for duty grade pistols. Kinda reminds me of fresh hi-powers or some CMP 1911s. I don't think it will negatively impact the longevity of the firearm in any significant way since most of the contact surfaces are the same material and will thus wear evenly (as you see in most surplus weapons). I don't know if you remember, but even gen 3 glocks had this level of grittiness for a long time so it's not really as big of a deal as you think

If there is really one thing I hate, it’s that they did not prioritize mag compatibility between this and the G2C/G3C. It’s annoying when you have a ton of mags that are useless because they phase out a well established platform. Sig did it right with the P320 by making it mag compatible with the P250, the incentive to switch is that you can bring your old accessories with you to the new platform. It’s like one day Taurus will innovate and the next day they will do crackhead shenanigans.

As long as the design is solid, and there aren’t any recalls for anything catastrophic, I would guess that it goes the distance. I couldn’t care less what the internals look like for $250, as long as it holds up. Time will tell! Thanks for the review… I appreciate it!

Let’s just all agree that cheap guns 20 years ago are not the same cheap guns of today. Technology is just so crazy that even with terrible machining at $250, the gun just runs and runs smoothly, shoots flat, and is still fairly accurate with off sights. Taurus probably just figured out that they don’t need to pay the more expensive guys to get the same job done for cheaper. You still get a handsome looking pistol that feels nice in the hand, that runs, AND comes with a lifetime warranty, so even if you do have an issue, it’s a free fix for life. Of course this shouldn’t be your number one choice and you should upgrade when you can, but for now they just want to arm the people and I’m here for it. Im not a fanboy by any means, but my experience with Taurus has always been run it wet and it will run forever 🤷🏽‍♂️

People are praising the low recoil on this thing. I recall you had the M&P 2.0 9mm SUB-compact 3.6" in your hoard which has a little smaller grip printing potential than this if you skip the pinky extension plate, but is maybe 5 ounces heavier than this Taurus? I know that's an older S&W, but I'm still considering it for next summer (mainly since I currently have a M&P 2.0 4" compact OR that is my favorite overall handgun and is super for winter). I'd just be curious on your take on recoil comparison between the Smith SUB and the GX2 since these look so close in stats except weight and look pretty close when overlayed on Handgun Hero visuals. Thanks for making all the "vs everybody else" style videos you do on this channel.
