The reason I like the Big Buds is because they are just steel and more steel. No plastic, no fluff, no mass of hoses and wires, no unnecessary sensors to tell you when something is thinking about thinking it may break next week, maybe. Just lots of heavy steel, a big engine and transmission and driveline along with a hydraulic pump, sure you can add a GPS and auto steer if you want. Just about anybody can work on them with a little mechanical knowledge and you can rebuild them forever and keep them working. A basic simple to operate and maintain tractor like the Big Bud is a no brainer great investment for any farmer needing a big tractor.

So glad you guys were invited to see the new tires getting put on the Williams 440. 2003 my family went on a vacation around Montana, and my choice of stop was the Williams farm to see the 747. Got to know Robert and Randy real well from that, plus whenever they'd come to North Dakota for toy shows selling the toy models. Hope you can make the trek to film them seeding this year!

Funny,, I mentioned a Detroit 60 series swap for efficiency on the big buds last year and SOMEONE said it couldn't be done. Cheers,ed
@WelkerFarms Жыл бұрын
As long as it isn't wider or longer than the frame, just about any engine can be put in a BUD. I hear the 60 series is a good running engine.

We remember the first Big Bud in Australia at Agquip field days at Gunnedah NSW 1977 if my memory is good....The man with it was Bud Nelson ...There are still a few working in Northwest NSW....
@lynwessel2471 Жыл бұрын
Big Bud Nelson was the chief mechanic for Willie Hensler who had a Wagner dealership in Havre MT when the John Deere/Wagner agreement left them with no 4wd tractor to sell. They designed and built the first Big Bud tractors.Ron Harmon bought the company in 1975.

Your Big Bud videos are my favorite farming related videos on youtube a few of the shots of the 747 in relation to people and other tractors or even building kinda shows how big that monster really is. Its hard to believe any piece of equipment outside of a mine exists let alone a farm tractor. Just WOW

OH!!!! Triples on the beast! That would be amazing! I believe you first posted the 747 tires video on a Tuesday and the following Saturday, I made a trip 150 miles down to Iowa to see it. I've climbed that ladder and sat in that seat. It was a really fun trip to see her. The farm shows have had the 700 out, but the tires used on it look drastically under-sized. I think it needs LSW's also.
