I discovered your channel around a week ago through one of your Romania videos (looking forward to more content from Romania, btw, I enjoy seeing my country through other people's eyes). I think your videos are well made and you two seem very natural in front of the camera, so it kinda surprised me that your channel is so small! I think one of the most important things to grow your audience, especially at the beginning, is to post very often, maybe every other day, even if the videos are a bit shorter. I follow another travelling couple from Canada and that's what they did at the beginning. That couple also has a scheduled live video on Sundays and that gives me something to look forward to if I have time to watch it then or I can watch it later, so maybe try that? Doing a live on a given day while you visit something, even if there will be only a couple of people watching at the beginning. Also, for me, it's really important that I like the people that I follow, and you two seem nice and genuine, so I really hope you'll make it. I'm rooting for you! 😊

Hi Aimara & Gordon! I don't exaggerate by commenting that your vlogs are really unique and reflect the quality way how a loving couple explores different countries at their own pace. What I like the most about your creations is your readiness to absorb many aspects of different cultures, including lifestyle and cuisine, as well as your research to find out more about the local history and appreciation for architecture. As constructive criticism, I would suggest making some kind of differentiation between things you like (as you used to give WOTW ratings). I mean, if you keep on describing every decent beach as "paradise" or whatever you eat as "incredible, the best ever" then the credibility of your content might suffer. Keyword research, tags, catchy titles, and if possible, a little more action or a touch of adventure (it's of course, hard to achieve when you are slow traveling) would surely help to increase your statistics. By the way, instead of only relying on ad revenue you might also engage actively in affiliate marketing incl. product placement. So, please don't give up, you got some real fans out there!

Thank you so much for taking the time to send us such amazing suggestions! We really don't take any of this for granted. Yes, what you said about the reviews is so true. We stopped sharing those because we started saying it with words, but then we noticed that we struggle to say the things we don't like, because we never want to sound like we are brats complaining about a place haha, but I think we will go back to the WOTW ratings. And also, yes we do keyword research for both YT and our website and are doing a deep audit on our tittles and thumbnails and changing the ones with low CTR's right now. We've already seen a small difference in the ones we've changed! 👏🏼 And we do affiliate marketing as well (specially on our website) but haven't seen great results yet. Our blog is growing every month as we start ranking for more keywords nowadays, so we are hoping the affiliate income also grows as well. We are working extra hard these days to make things work with WOTW! We don't want to give up on either our YT channel or our blog, so we hope to see some results thanks to the changes we are making right now. And of course, learning more and more everyday (specially from our mistakes!). Thanks so much for being here ❤️

I have found your channel recently, but the videos I have seen were so helpful and informative that I subscribed immediately. I really don't know what it takes to "make it" on social media, so I don't know if I can be of much help with that. Personally I think your content is much better than a lot of other things I see here on YT. I commented on the very first video I ever watch from your channel, and I don't comment/engage on most videos I watch. I guess that for me, is all about how personable the content creator is. How much I feel like I would like to actually hang out with that person in real life. I think you guys definitely have that appeal already. After watching this video, all I can think of is that it is a very hard thing to give up security/stability and just go for it, just follow the dream. It takes a lot of courage. As with everything else in life, nothing is a bed of roses, but ppl often only show the highlights on social media. I admire you for being so transparent. It can be really hard to find that 'magic formula' on YT but your comment also validates a lot of the things we believe in which are: being useful, share our values, but also have fun with it. We are not a travel show here, so the only thing we have going for ourselves is to be us and to try to have as much fun as possible when making videos, to hopefully inspire people to travel and learn about other cultures. First of all guys you are doing an amazing job keep it up , As a little advice, i watched quite a few of your videos and i wasnt aware of the blog , now that i checked the description i can see the links but i would suggest to put them again on a pinned comment, maybe with a question for the viewers to interact in the same pinned comment, Also i would suggest to try short format content , aka shorts , that you can share on youtube , insta and Facebook reels and even tiktok , this would give you much much higher reach as this content format is pushed a lot , and with the quality of your content it will for sure bring a lot of followers , maybe a summary of your videos in less than a minute, it would be for example great with food reviews, like you would show the dishes and give a little rating ,and what is great is that you can use that content in more than a platform . I would also suggest that you work on the pacing of the videos a the beginning for more retention, with punchy editing , transition etc ... Again these are just suggestions, but you are already doing a great job, keep it up , wish you all the success you deserve.

Honestly, we don't take it for granted that you took the time to share your ideas. We are actually looking into shorts because of that reason you mentioned, they are being pushed a lot by YT right now! Hopefully the strategy will work for us! And about the pacing of the videos, we have been watching other videos to learn about this more since watch time is very important for YT and as you mentioned, there are tricks with editing, transitions, good intros, etc. I'm taking note of all of this! @@waysoftheworld_ well i would gladly help with what i can , your efforts to make the best most informative content as possible is clearly showing , little where it matters can go a long way to push your content to more people as it really deserves to be watched, and it might not necessarily mean a lot more work, for example a little hook a the very beginning of every video where you briefly show the most interesting moment of the video ( maybe leave people on a cliffhanger) so they are from the beginning engaged , You can see these type of things implemented on a lot of videos because it works , also you can rely on your analytics, see what are the key retention spikes on your video graphs , most clickable titles and thumbnails and try to understand the kay features that made their success so you can re implement them, double down on what's working, And also tags and keywords are important for search ranking , in every video maybe focus on a strong keyword implemented in the titles , description and tags , and again shorts are really important, and i think you have a lot of opportunities to make great shorts , the old scary albanian train comes directly to mind , the cenotes on the yucatan peninsula , a short for every cenote . You can also see what other creators are doing in terms of pacing , scripting etc There could be a lot of good practices to learn especially from creators in the same niche. Instagram also is a great way to build an engaged audience, especially for your content, reels there can be a great idea . Sorry for this mind dump , those are just some ideas that come to mind from my own experience with youtube , hope it would be of help, and thank you for all the great content you are putting out there, for your genuine and sincere approach 🙏

Absolutely love your channel! To be constructive, I'd say the blog could be more an informative website about each place you visit with info about prices, itinerary you took, which bus operators, your cool spots, etc... And less about a story (this can be done in the newsletter!). On KZbin, i wouldn't mind just having 1 video per week on a regular basis. Let's say every Saturday night, i can be sure to have one 30 minutes episode of what you saw in the last week! If you upload other videos, just do some top 10s or something about a specific topic (like an overview of public transport in a given city/region, i really love that!). Don't be afraid to show the "dark sides" of places you visit. For would-be visitors, it is important to know them! 🤟 Happy 1st year travel anniversary BTW!!

Yes! Totally. We have thought about this if things don't work out next year. We still have one more year to make things work, so fingers crossed! If it gets to that, we would have to see how we manage a blog, a channel and working for someone else, but we will cross that bridge if we get there. In the meantime we keep learning and working hard to make things better! Hopefully we see something change in the next year! I so think there are some things you could implement in the videos to gain more followers. 1. Have more drone shots. 2. Make some videos more structured with suggestions on things to do in the destinations where you're located. I love the down to earth and vlog thpe videos but I think structured videos like "top 10 things to do..." might help capture viewers attention. 3. We've had a drone but they don't allow them in Turkey or Mexico without a license and we didn't want to bring it and risk losing it (even though people do it all the time). Then we had some issues with it in Albania, but it should be all fixed soon! And yes, those videos you mentioned seem to be good. We did one on 'best beaches in Cozumel' and it seemed to work out well for us so we are planning more of those to see what happens! :) And same with the destinations, even though we are super passionate about off-the-beaten-path places, we are trying to mix it up with some more popular countries.. like the one where we are going next! Guys, thanks a lot for sharing your experiences with the rest of the world. You guys improved a lot in making the videos. I really love when you share tour food experiences, maybe because I always like to try new food when I travel. What I would like to see more, is more things in a video. Don't focus too much on one thing because otherwise it gets boring. Also, if there is something you don't like or are annoyed with, just mention it and move on, don't talk about it for few minutes (like the poop in the toilet); it is not important for us who are watching. The reason why I started watching these types of you tube channels is because we would like to more somewhere else (another coutry) but as we don't have the possibility to travel everywhere in order to see how it is, we see it through your eyes so as much you guys share, as better for us 😁

My husband and I only discovered your KZbin channel a couple months ago and we have enjoyed watching your travels. You both seem to be very genuine people and you enjoy each other's company. It is very refreshing to watch you both. I also like that you show even the more difficult parts of countries, like when you were on that really filthy train on Albania! We probably would have had to stand up if we were on that train! If I could make two suggestions this is what I would say. Your microphone seems to have some issues. It is very echoey-sounding and picks up too many sounds around you, particularly if you are in a restaurant with other people talking. Sometimes we have to put on captions just to be able to understand what you are saying and sometimes the person writing the captions does not know either. Also we have liked shows by other travelers where they have gotten to know people in the country personally by visiting their homes and having meals with them. I know it is an issue if you cannot speak the language. But keep up the good work and with all the work that you do I really hope that you will bring in more money to support your travels. Happy 1-year anniversary!! Please keep enjoying the travel and try not to get overwhelmed by the “job”. I follow a few travel vloggers, some very successful and some newer ones, like you. Personally I prefer shorter videos, around 10 minutes. When a video is more than 20 minutes long, I often don’t start watching it, because I don’t want to “invest” so much time in watching KZbin. Food for thought, I hope it’s useful.

In terms of feedback… I’ve read all of your weekly newsletters; I look forward to them every Sunday morning. But I wonder if you would be better off posting these on your blog instead of sending via email. Does people reading your newsletter emails even count as “views”? If you sent a brief email to let us know that you’ve posted the weekly newsletter, I’d click over to the blog and would be more likely to comment as well. Note that one reason I like the newsletters is the real-time nature of them… "here’s what happened this week", whereas the blog and YT posts currently lag further behind. I am more of a reader and not a huge viewer of KZbin so take this for what it’s worth, but I would probably watch more often if there were shorter videos. I loved the few minutes of “one year highlights” at the end of this video, for instance, and wonder if you should post that as a short, separate video. I”m sure it would get a lot of views on its own. But I also enjoy your longer videos when I do watch them. You do a great job of taking us with you on the experiences. You are good documentarians… but sometimes documentaries aren’t commercial successes and that is your struggle. Finally, I wonder if it would help to survey why people are watching your videos or coming to your blog. For instance, in my case, I don’t know that I will ever do an off-the-beaten-path trip to a place like Albania (for instance) so my reason for reading and watching is more for the human interest element of following along on your fascinating journey and getting a taste of these amazing places. As I’m not watching for the purpose of planning my own trip to these places, I am not as interested in the detailed “do this, avoid that’ aspects of the blog. Anyway, just my two cents. Hey Yuji - thanks so much for the feedback & encouraging words! It's nice to read that you look forward to the newsletter and that you're enjoying the videos. I like the ideas you shared - can you draft a proposal for the survey you mentioned...? just kidding :) but you are right, we have to understand the viewer's motivation better. The goal is for it to be more of our story in these place, and maybe encouraging people to explore less popular places. The blog is more for people who are actively planning a trip to a destination. We're also working hard to get the content to be more real time - we totally agree that the gap between where we are now vs what we are publishing takes away some of the anticipation for the videos. Finally, the short videos are also something that we are working on implementing - showing the highlights to promote the longer videos, for instance. Thanks for the support! I think short videos are important to gain new subscribers and increase visibility. For this reason, It would be good to add 1 minute long short videos about your old trips. In addition, if this video is live, you will have the opportunity to be in instant communication with your followers. 3-) Subscribe to the channel and like the video part can be especially highlighted with an additional part video to be added to the video presentation. Hi there, Just discovered your channel through your video on Bari and watched some other. By no means am I expert on youtube production or editing but I have visited 86 countries and worked in 27 other countries( I am 69 years old), so my commenting is from a standpoint of what I would like to see in a video of another place or from some new experience. I like a videos which are informative, but also personal and realistic. Unfortunately the videos that attract most viewers are like soap operas, where everything has a background narrative on how to sell in the story. It can be through the headline, "shocking" discoveries, faking break-ups etc. On the other hand you have channels like Martijn Doolards, who is a videographer, who makes a lot of money through pictureperfect ambience and showing a Marlboro man and his "hardship" living. I would not release more than one video per week and not more than 15-20 min long. Also when you comment on places or food, say what you really dislike, not only what was wonderful. A question, how did you pick the first countries to visit ? Not an obvious choice for a couple from US. Greatings from Sweden Miomir

We have some changes coming up in 2023 :) G picked Turkey because it had been my dream to visit for a long time and we were both interested in seeing something different (the trip was a surprise for me, Aimara) - and the rest, just randomly honestly, we are curiosity driven :) Also, these countries are affordable and we also like promoting lesser known destinations people might not know much about. I really enjoy your contents, but I think more videos in a week wouldn't be the best idea. I would rather enjoy one kinda lengthy video than a bunch in a week! Also please invest in small microphones because tbh sometimes it is hard to listen to what you're saying, especially if you guys are outdoor. Thank you so much for being so honest! Our stupid mic lol we tried to love it but so many people have complained about the sound and now I'm starting to hear all the flaws too. I try my best when editing, but we do need to get a new mic. We will be back in the US in November and plan to invest in one. We tried finding one here, but it's so much more expensive, so it will have to wait... And right now we are sharing 3 weekly videos because we have already made them and are trying to catch up as much as possible with real life, but next year we hope we are caught up and can focus on creating one or two longer and higher quality videos 🙏🏼 and PS: I know it's kind of a hassle to reach out in the comments to ask for anything, but if you have questions because you couldn't hear us properly in the video because of the sound, please let us know. i love u guys very much! i saw all of your Turkey vidoes (becasue i will travel to Turkey for a month soon) and was inpresed by the quelity of the vidoes (u have realiy nice camare work). i think u should make a little intro at the begininng of each video and ask your viewers to click like and soscrive (sorry for my poor spelling). also u should look for sponsers (like an airflight company, hotel chain and other big sponsers). if u have a good writing skill u should also look to write for travel magazine (thay dont pay alot but its good steady income). and u should with no doubt think of reality show (the amazing race its obvious) so u can drow viewers., you are both sweet and good looking so take advantage of that!!! crose fingers u will do all right since you are one of the best travel blogers out there! big hugs for Israel (hope my country is on your list!!)

I’ll give you my honest opinion.. I’ve no idea how You Tube works in is it better to have more views or more subscribers? I’m guessing both?..to achieve views and possibly be noticed more I think you need to have a something very specific that people may search for until you’re more established on here. This is an example and by no means what I suggest you do but this year I decided to travel to Turkey for the first time in years .Found a newish hotel that was reasonably priced and thought I’m going to have a look on You Tube..there were very few videos reviewing the place (maybe 6) all of them had views of 40k and above and all being from very small channels. I watch travel vlogs for a lot of reasons..to see places I’m likely to never go..to find out about a specific country or city in regards what is there to do?what do things cost? what is the food like??.maybe parts of a city to avoid. You do these things and do them well so don’t beat yourself up thinking you’ve failed..you absolutely haven’t ! you just need a foot in the door so to speak. Brainstorm..how do we get people to click on our videos..that might mean doing something that wasn’t really something you’d considered or wanted to do but maybe try it a couple of times and see if it boosts the views. Review a car rental ( cost/what was required regards documents /age restrictions/ cost of fuel.. review a restaurant ( look for newly opened places) review a specific bus company. Keep smiling guys xx

Hiii :) Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for the nice words! I am taking note of all of this. I think we have never really thought about it like this. We usually make a long video at the end of each travel series covering a lot of that stuff, but it might not be the easiest content to digest because there's so much info! Also, both subscribers and views matter. It's a tricky balance and depends on what people want to achieve with their channels. For us, subscribers matter because we are trying to build a community, but views are the ones that help you make money and also reach more people, so it's a balance for sure. When it comes to clicks, we are actually editing all of our tittles and thumbnails right now and changing the ones where people are not clicking on. Thankfully YT really has a lot of stats for creators to look at and make any changes or new strategies... Anyways, working really hard. Studying every day and very determined to not give up! Now it's the war in Ukraine, I'm from Romania and it's the border with this misfortune. Every day I worry that the Russians might invade Romania...as they have done 13 times in history.
