I got my dog as the defendant did. I was asked to watch the puppy (6 weeks old) for a week. 3 months later he came and got her. A week later I went to check on the dog. He worked and partied all the time. The poor thing was in an enclosed patio, summer, almost dead. I broke in took the dog to the vet. 3 months later he called to tell me the dog got out that morning. I told him what I did, he said he'd be right there to get the dog. I said "take me to court". That was 15 years ago and she's still going strong ... In my home. Spoiled. Loved. Happy.

She says "I'm her mother", but she left her with someone else for two years, and only refers to her as "the dog". Does she not know the name of "the dog"? And if she can't have "the dog", she'll be happy with money. I agree with Judge Judy; "You're not her mother."

So I had a similar situation like this but when I asked the lady to watch my dog, I told her it would be a month and then I’ll come back once we settled in with the move. I signed a contract and offered her payment. Brought food, his toys and some extra things if he needed it. Went every week to see my dog. It may have been for an hour or 2 but i made sure to see him. Had a slight hiccup with the move and called her if she can watch him for another 2 weeks and that I will provide payment for it. Finally got settled at the new house and went to pick up my dog. It’s not hard. I get that things come up but you got a dog and you have to be responsible for it. If you ask someone to take care of your responsibility then do the right thing.

There was a similar case I think on People’s Court where a woman took her dog to a kennel and never picked it up. The kennel owner found a home for it months later and I think a year later the previous owner came to pick the dog up. She land up suing the kennel but she lost. She abandoned the dog.

A 110lb dog is the weight equivalent of 2 eight-year old kids or a 4'10" teen! As a 'mother' the plaintiff abandoned her 'baby' in favour of the boyfriend whose dog wanted to eat the baby; and now wants to sue the 'foster mother' for the return of the fully grown teen. It's clear she has no concept of how morally and legally wrong she is, but luckily her 'baby' found a lovely home

If she cared about the dog she wouldn’t demand her back after 2 years. She had the puppy for a few months so she wouldn’t be strongly bonded to her yet. Then the defendant had her for 2 years. In my opinion NO ONE who puts a value on their animal and says you can either give me my dog or the value of my dog does not deserve the animal because clearly they are willing to give it to someone else for a price! There is no price for my cats! If anyone came into my home and offered me money any amount I would not give either of them away and let me tell you I'm not rich LOL but I love my babies and they will be with me until they leave this earth or I do. And they are well taken care of, loved beyond measure and I understand people get into hard situations.... when I had to move from my friend's apartment back home to my parents I left my cat for one night I was going to leave him for two nights just so I could get moved back in but she said and I believe her because my cat and I were so close that he laid in the middle of my bedroom curled up crying for me so I went and got him the next day immediately. She could have said here's a million dollars for your cat and I would have said kiss my ass LOL

So this woman had this Great Dane for a couple of weeks as a puppy. She gave this dog to her friend, who then kept the dog for TWO YEARS because the original owner's boyfriend had a dog and the two dogs didn't get along. During that time, she has providing NOTHING in the way of financial support for this dog. As far as the dog is concerned, the defendant is her owner. She's the one that the dog has bonded to and she has taken care of this dog since she got her. I absolutely agree with Judge Judy's ruling. If the plaintiff had wanted her dog that badly, she would have gotten the dog back when they moved in 2016. The defendant even SAID "take your dog back."

What a great way to make sure your dog has adequate care and attention in her dying days-getting a new puppy! What an idiot. So eager to replace the dog she couldn’t even wait until it was dead.

even when I had to leave my old dog at a housing for a week for a family death out of state, I still texted the kennel owner daily to get pictures and updates. I couldn't go two whole weeks without knowing what's going on with my dog

Spaying your dog is medically necessary unless you believe in increasing the chance of pyometra and mammary cancer. Glad this dog was with someone who actually cared for its well-being.

🤣🤣🤣 “I visited the dog she came up to me & kissed me”. Dogs don’t kiss on people the way people kiss on people, I’m not a vet or a scientist but even I know that!

Honestly the fact she's suing either for money or the dog, makes me think she doesn't care that much about the dog. I sometimes don't know who to believe though, was she constantly visiting and paying for all the dogs food and told she would have dog returned. Giving up dog that long when you only had her for short time seems like a thing I would try to avoid at all costs though also. Not paying for every single expense to me is a sign she didn't still view it as her responsibility. I don't even know how much the dog is viewed as hers at this point when she had it a couple weeks total and been 2 years with other woman.

Abandoning and asking back pets is a ridiculous claim. I will not give back a dog which I own for 6 months let alone 2 years.

3:36 … that’s weird, I swear stores still provided receipts when you pay cash for stuff. Maybe I’m just needy when I take my receipt after paying cash.
