My meth head ex-neighbor asked me to watch her dog for a couple weeks when she moved, well, I had her for years until I had to put her down recently (medical issues RIP). I got her fixed after a while because she had puppies before and they all died.... this was in the neighbor's care, not mine. And spent a good sum of money trying to save her. These kind of people don't care about their animals.

I worked at a kennel and I’m shocked he wasn’t clipped or groomed at all, being there that long. We had a similar situation where the owner just would not come get their dog, kept paying for its stay, but just wouldn’t come get him! We had him for about a month too, and it broke my heart. When the owner finally came to get him, she acted like it was such an inconvenience to her, we didn’t even want to relinquish that sweet dog back her.

A kennel for a month and a half? How does someone do that and not feel bad. That’s so terrible. There are terrible kennels out there and even the good ones have to many dogs they can’t give them the attention they need. Your dog essentially thinks you abandoned him at that point.

I really love how Judge Judy handles animal cases. She always rules in the best interest of the Animal and can tell when someone is legitimately not deserving of having an animal. She was a little TOO harsh on the young defendant for using 'basically' or 'like'. Felt uncalled for.

My wife and I have a dog. It used to be my neighbors dog. I am retired but still working. So is my wife. With out hesitation we have spent 4 figures getting and keeping him healthy. A pet is not a possession. A pet is an obligation.

There is a service in the UK called 'Borrow my Dog'...it gives people who want dogs, but can't have them (for whatever reason), the opportunity to look after other peoples dogs. It's very strictly monitored, & everyone is vetted & matched. I suppose it's a bit like dog sitting (or maybe dog Tinder!!) 🤔 I realise this is a different situation... but it does work well here!

This kind of happened to me; horrible people left their dog in my grandparents' house without food or water. He was sleeping in the crawlspace in the basement among his messes. He had a horrible fungal infection all over his skin. We took him home (after they were evicted for non-payment of rent for months) and cleaned him up, fed him, and then straight to the vet. It was very expensive to get him fixed and back to "normal". After about 9 months the original owners called and let us know his name but didn't ask for him back. Horrible years treat an animal like that, especially one that's supposedly a member of the family. He is the sweetest dog, super smart, and now he's happy in the country with a huge yard.

It is since long nails can cause walking pain for dogs. It makes them unable to run without pain and makes them limp while they walk. either way, these owners really didn't look after the dog. A dog isn't just a toy to look at for your kids, it's a life, it's an animal. I feel a lot of families like this one often forget that a dog also means looking after living life

If they actually did say they were giving the dog that is different. But nothing about the grooming has any part in that. There’s a popular clip of someone who refused to give the plaintiff their dog back. When the dog came into the court room he ran right to his daddy and the audience applauded. Here the dog seemingly couldn’t care less for his former owners. Dogs are smarter than we think, and his former “family” is selfish for trying to take him away from a loving home. So this dog was in the kennel for a month and a half....let's say 45 days. The lady claims she paid $15 a day for her dog to be in this kennel. According to my calculator, that is $675 she spent boarding this dog at the kennel, and according to the defendants, the dog was severely neglected in its grooming, and its owners were being evicted from their home. So HOW EXACTLY does she manage to come up with $675 to board this dog, but she can't seem to take care of the dog, or maintain a home for herself and her 5 children? That doesn't make sense to me. And the dog looks extremely comfortable with the defendants. I wouldn't give the dog back to them. They clearly can't take care of him properly, if he was matted, with long nails and living off hot dogs and sandwich meat.
