Reddit support honestly helped me realise how toxic my ex of 6yrs was & I’ve never been happier since leaving him. The relief I felt from break up was truly eye opening & being alone free from the draining relationship improved my life. Reddit or not, statistically most relationships wont work and need to end. It may seem extreme, but almost every situation I see people questioning in reddit or in real life I think break up is the best answer. I see in my real life people staying and even raising kids in awful relationships where its clear their partners dont love or respect them, and all I can think about is how much better most people would be if their parents made the decision to end things and just go to therapy to fix their issues. Most adults are fucked cause our parents dont seem to realize breaking up as soon as something crossed a limit is an option. Its frustrating cause I see my sister admire and romanticize her friends relationships cause they have babies and are married...while Im like: But she literally married an alcoholic dude that cheated on her many times, tells her her feelings are stupid and its insanely controlling in everything including what she wears and how she cuts her hair...Why would you want to raise kids and be married like that?

@samoanjoseph14579 ай бұрын
I admit I jump on the "leave them" bandwagon pretty fast. But to me it often seems like the OP says something along the lines of "I have this perfect partner but they have this one minor flaw" and it turns out the flaw is something that either isn't going to get better or is big enough where leaving seems easier than trying and failing to fix it. And the very fact that they describe their partner as near perfect already suggests they would stick it out no matter what, even if there's no hope. Optimism is fine, but if you're blind to something that could or will hurt you, I can only hope you find a bunch of people who tell you to avoid it.

Since Reddit is a public place (so long as u have an account), there r all sorts of ppl on it. While Reddit can give good insight, they also tend to be pretty bias or jump to conclusions. The best it can do is give some things to think about but like one Redditor said in the video, the choice is ultimately urs.

@Rossana Alvarado One example of Reddit not being a guarantee of being a good place to take advice on is someone who asked advice about letting their SO know about a mental worry caused by COVID. The poster tells about how the SO is really empathetic and how her previous worries caused the SO to get stuff like anxiety cause the SO is dealing with not only their own worries but also the posters’. She took the advices given and told her SO which aggravated the SO’s mental state and the poster regretted it.

Wish I had known about reddit during my first relationship, but it was still in its infancy at the time, and I didn't find out about it until years after when it really started taking off. Maybe if I had some people to talk some sense into me, I could have saved a lot of the bs that I had dealt with in that relationship. I kept going back due to fear of being alone and that was part of what caused a lot of the damage.

Reddit’s go to answer to any relationship problem = jUsT lEAvE Boyfriend cheating on you? Just leave. You’re cheating on your boyfriend because he won’t touch you, but you still enjoy having him around? Just leave. Girlfriend contributing significantly less than you, because she’s looking after the baby you put in her? Just leave. You had a fight with your SO once about leaving the butter out? That’s so toxic, just leave. The problem with reddit is that the average user is young, thinks a 2 year relationship is long term, doesn’t have life experience, thinks the romance portrayed in movies is legit and doesn’t own anything that would go to their spouse as a result of a relationship breakdown.
