Filming a movie entirely in one room presents a challenge since it can become visually monotonous, especially if the room lacks interest, as is the case with the jury room in the 1957 movie, 12 Angry Men. To address this, director Sidney Lumet made limited character movement the norm, resulting in most of the "action" revolving around the characters sitting at a table. To counteract potential boredom, Lumet employed dynamic camera movements. Collaborating with cinematographer Boris Kaufman, they devised techniques to enhance the movie's atmosphere. For the initial third of the film, it’s filmed from an elevated angle; for the second third, it’s filmed at eye level; and for the final third, it’s filmed from a lower angle. This progression gradually revealed the ceiling, intensifying the sense of confinement as the walls closed in. The increasing claustrophobia greatly heightened tension in the movie's concluding part.
