I adjusted my own shocks after finding out the proper adjustment for my weight. Then again, I purchased a motorcycle from a private seller, and it was a metric cruiser. Only regret is that I got rid of all the metric tools I had when I owned my 1979 Dodge Ramcharger for twenty six years and four hundred thousand miles. The truck did not have a single metric bolt, screw, or fastener. On a good note.... I get to purchase more tools... Yay!

Its sad you will never find another new vehicle without a metric bolt on it. 400,000 miles wow you got your money’s worth. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Lol. My dealer said ZERO about the shock absorbers or how to adjust them. In fact, they never even gave me a manual and when I went back in they gave me a hard time. Since then they've been bought and taken over by good people. ERHD MINNESOTA. I've learned all I know on my own or videos, dealerships are hit and miss. God bless you sir SPORTSTER4LIFE

My dealership delivered mine. The guy who dropped it off told me how to do it as it's a simple dial on my sport glide. Great topic, new subscriber!👍

Harley Haven in SC adjusted my shocks! Two other Harley Dealers did not. Agree its important and should be adjusted for you especially for New Riders.

Hey Carl, my dealer never adjusted my shocks or even mentioned it needed to be done. I adjusted it myself when I read the owners manual and realized they were not set properly. It definitely improved the ride. It's been almost a couple years since I bought the bike. I've put on at least 20lbs. I was not happy with the stock shocks at all they rode horrible. To the point I purchased some after market replacement shocks. Before they even arrived I realized I needed to adjust my shocks for my added weight. This second adjustment made enough of a positive change in the ride that I sent the shocks back and saved almost $800

I totally agree with you. It is so important to the performance it should be on the top of the dealers list to do. Thanks for watching my videos and sharing your experience. Much appreciated.

@@MotorcyclingwithCarl I agree 100%. Adjusting the shocks for the owners weight should be part of the pre-delivery checklist.

My dealer didn't adjust my Iron's or my Street Bob rear suspension. I adjusted my Bob mono shock and it made a noticeable difference. I think for a premium priced bike it definitely should be part of the delivery process 👍

My sales guy showed me the adjustment, showed me how to use it, and asked if I wanted it adjusted, and set it for my weight. I think it should be part of every new bike sale.

It definitely should be. I am glad I am getting some positive feedback on this subject I was hearing alot of negative on my other video and my dealer could have cared less just wanted to sell the bike. Thanks for watching and commenting and sharing your experience.

@@MotorcyclingwithCarl Some dealers don't care, I'm glad to have found a couple in my area that DO care. I think it's pretty rare, though.

When I got my bike ,I read the manual. I adjusted my rear shocks myself. Read the owners manual! Don't expect the dealer to take care of everything. You are the one who is riding. Take care of yourself.

Nice video. My dealer has been throrough when I picked up my new bikes. I have adjusted the shocks as I got used to the bike. It is all about looking over the owner's manual and looking at KZbin videos like yours. BTW, Did you move to North Haven?

It's not only a Harley dealer. Bought a can am Ryker and added the passenger seat option. Didn't know there was an adjustment until i started bottoming out and looked it up on line. How would you sell something without adjusting the machine to the user? Poor service.

Customer service isn't what it should be. Teaching a buyer (especially a new rider) how to make that adjustment should be part of taking the bike from the dealer.

I have lost more respect for the way Harley does business in the last five years, their service fees have gone up so much and the crew that works at the dealer closest to me are subpar at best. I get surrounded by sales people wanting me to buy another bike the minute I walk in the door. One or two of them seem to know what they are talking about but the rest are clueless. Everything the stamp their name on is so overpriced it’s almost laughable. I will ride a Harley until the end but I stay away from the dealer. I appreciate all the videos and when I was ready to use the FP3 auto tune I used your video to get that done.
