This 2016 CVO 110 has 50,000 miles on it and it sounds like a jar of marbles. Lets tear down this Twin Cam and see why this Harley engine noise got BAD! A full tear down and diagnosis.

Frankly I do not see how big twin owners are so nonchalant about catastrophic engine failure at abysmally low mileage. My URAL tourist sidecar has around 50,000 miles that I have put on in the ten years plus that I have owned it but it was always third in line between the other two. My Sportster has four hundred thousand miles on the original engine other than replacing the stator when it was 20 years old and had 250,000 MI. My CX500 had 250,000 miles on her at the time of her demise,. Why 1977 BMW 100 / 7 had over 500,000 mi when we got taken out by a car. That bike was running good I had just put brand new pipes on cuz the originals only lasted forty years and we had just decarbonise the Pistons. We did replace the rubber pushrod tubes heels that were leaking and we cleaned up the pictures while we were there. The only time I had to split the case on my 1965 triumph TR6 was to replace both of the camshafts which were completely worn out after fifty years of use. All you hear about an evolution motor is that it might leak a little bit of oil at the base gaskets and I always say real motorcycles leak oil just not too much.

Hi Kevin, always a pleasure learning from you. FWIW, being from Boston and an avid ice rider, my old Buell XB12R was a ping monster but I did notice a couple sets of plugs where the straps would either bend or twist but only in the winters, never summers. I attributed it to extreme temperature changes and pinging or freezing starts. Ever since on my Harley's, Ill run a space heater until my block gets above 50 degrees before I start it now. I could be %100 wrong but it hasn't happened since and being he is from Minnesota, well, it gets cold. Just a thought.

Truck freight is not particularly expensive so if you live in the continental US you could send him an engine or (weighs less) a stripped core to build. It's quite common to send engines out of state to get what you want. I do.

Stumbled across this video. I'm a gearhead and work on my own bikes. I follow a couple car channels as well. There is a pandemic of bad new parts lately especially lifters! Many car engine builders are reusing lifters if there good. When they go they take out the whole motor. Similar to what you have there. Just an FYI. Great video.
