His second and third one are underrated. They get grouped together with Die Another Day when they're not nearly as stupid. Tomorrow Never Dies only gets more relevant with age since the villain is a media mogul manipulating events for his newspaper's headlines. The World is Not Enough deals with really dark subject matter like stockholm syndrome.

I agree, she is fiiiiiine in this movie BUT to me, for first Bond girl crush was Izabella Scorupco (Natalya Simonova). Maybe it's because you get to know her so well in Golden Eye. Now that I think about it, you spend as much time following her (if not more) for the first half as you do Bond. Also, maybe because I find something appealing of a hot girl who doesn't know she is hot and is a bit rough around the edges :)

I’m kinda surprised y’all were a bit more positive on this, I think this movie sucks. Not only the worst Brosnan Bond movie, but one of, if not the worst Bond movie IMO. Thankfully the franchise went up 3 years later with Casino Royale even if the Craig films were up and down in quality.

I remember watching this in theaters and the most tragic part (as the guys pointed out here) is that the first 1/4 of this is actually pretty good. The idea of Bond getting caught and later MI6 suspecting that he might have been brainwashed, and hence could now be a sleeper agent for NK was very intriguing and fresh. It turns into a completely different (and bad) movie right after he escapes from the boat and goes to HK. Any potential falls by the wayside and we end up in Roger Moore territory for the rest of the film. I think every Bond ending their tenure with 1-2 shit movies is almost as traditional to the franchise as the gun barrel intro.

This movie was made in that dream machine… except a nightmare came out. Too bad my middle school brain had no idea lol. Rosamund Pike is good though. Too bad most everything else is more Puke than Peak.

God Die Another Day was one of my favorites as a kid! But it definitely isn’t perfect 😂 that opening song is the worst but Pierce is one of my favorite bonds as well as Roger and Sean. I’m sure it’s pure nostalgia but this, For Your Eyes Only and From Russia With Love were always on repeat when I was younger

At least it's not as bad as the 1967 'Casino Royale', you need scientists from NASA or MIT to figure that shit out. This has one or two good moments - the hovercraft chase is decent and that fencing duel escalates in an enjoyably ridiculous way. But mostly it sucks - particularly that theme song from Madonna.

I have a soft spot for this film even though I think it's one of weaker Bond films, but I actually enjoyed this more than World is not Enough. I think this was a victim of a somewhat cynical time, where it got the double whammy The Bourne Identity and the third Austin Powers films coming out earlier that year, so that showed stark contrast and all of this was Post 9/11, so I think a lot of people kinda bounce off from it , at least the critics, but iirc it did decent box office.

I’d like for Bond to stay dead, and for the franchise to move on by focusing on the designation of 007. You start with Nomi. Where she has a character arc that could be over one movie or several. However, when that arc concludes, it’d mean she was either retired, KIA or MIA. Then another agent becomes the next 007 and has their arc. So on and so forth. This would up the ante, because you can’t take for granted this agent is going to make it. So when they’re facing death, you’d feel the full weight of that. This is what I’d like to see for the franchise, going forward.

I was all in for wanting to see this just because it was the 20th film and being released during the 40th anniversary of the franchise. Yes it was the height of 'over the top' for the franchise. Also nods and easter eggs to those 4 decades of 007. But of course, 'over the top' isn't always a good thing and even some were calling this kinda bad. Even Madonna doing the theme song and making a cameo, cool to some and seen as cringe/unnecessary. I was cool with the plot, action, one liners, etc. It was all over the place as most Bond films tend to be anyway. The filmmakers wanting to change direction of 007 seemed understood and I guess things like that are a priority to save an I.P. This as Brosnan's 4th and final as Bond wasn't a total lost. There was a video game called Everything Or Nothing. First on Game Boy Advance. But then on Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox with a voice cast including Brosnan as Bond for the very last time.
