About 80 years ago Most people talked Dutch here. My moms grandparents were dutch and my dads side. If you look at Books it was written in dutch and the Bible. This week i played with a Dutch and we Laughed cause i didn't know he was dutch and he sneezed and i said Askies and he laughed and said op gesondheid and he started speaking dutch but i stopped him quickly. I can read dutch and understand it and if someone speak to me slowly i will understand and some songs also. Like mijn nacht kraankie pappi .

The red St. Patrick’s cross within the Union Jack actually represented the island of Ireland (from 1801 to 1922) whilst Northern Ireland itself has no official flag since 1973 (after the Ulster Banner was abolished). To be honest, the UK should revert it’s flag back to the pre-1801 flag

Under this flag, South Africa fought against and defeated Nazi Germany, instigated apartheid, ended apartheid, broke away from the British Empire and became a republic, built and destroyed their nuclear arsenal, something no other country has done. It's not a perfect history, but what country has a perfect history? I acknowledge it represents different things for different people, but instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, i hope history will judge it objectively for the good and bad things done under its banner.

South Africa was never going to stay the way it was. For every 100 good memories and experiences of the "old South Africa" there are 10,000 bad ones; that isn't to say that your experience is wrong or invalid, just that you should hold them beside all the suffering that went on during that same time to the majority of the people in the country you remember. The injustice from the system that created the beautiful South Africa you remember (and rightfully so, your experience is absolutely balanced) was too gargantuan to leave the country unchanged. God heard His creation cry out for too long, something had to break.

@Sam • What about the border between Europe and Africa then? Migration is a fenomen that occurs frequently in human history. Within Europe, but also outside of it. A large chunk of the European gene pool can be attributed to a people from Russia. Also, Spain was once inhabited by many Scandinavians, as was North-Africa. Later, the Moroccans conquered Spain and this altered Spain as well. And in the case of the Boers we're talking about a people and not an invading army. Or would you suggest a group of farmers with wagons, women and children and their modest belonings were a "colonial power"? That's absurd. Don't be a hypocrit. You dislike the Afrikaners because they are white. And now you want the black South Africans to take the buildings and infrastructure the Afrikaners caused to exist. It's theft. Jealousy.

Ik this is negatively associated with the despicable Apartheid regime, but it’s just such a great song. It talks about the beauty of this country: the seas, the skies, the plains. It embodies the heritage of Afrikaners, a history and language that I am deeply fascinated with. It talks about life: the four seasons, a simple living, and nature. It is a beautiful prayer to God, and tells a story. Ofc, the current South African national anthem is also beautiful, combined with Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika. But this isn’t a racist song. It’s a wonderful piece of music, that is so much more than just a national anthem. God bless South Africa. ❤🇿🇦

This is really funny, but when I was in primary school (post-Apartheid), I would sing this.
