Hello! Many thanks for watching the video. All the photos are of the actual band that you are listening to, either taken the same year as the recording, or within a couple years of it. It's the same policy on all my other uploads. The first photo at 0.44 is the bandmaster wearing the uniform worn by him at concerts. 1.17 is the band of the 1st Life Guards in their regimental uniform - scarlet tunics with blue collars and cuffs, with red helmet plumes. The 1st Life Guards, together with the 2nd Life Guards, and The Royal Horse Guards, collectively formed "The Household Cavalry". The 1st Life Guards were the senior regiment of the British Army. 1.52 shows the band mounted, and wearing "State Dress", only worn in the prescence of royalty on state occasions. The coats are completely covered in gold lace, and the musicians were black state jockey caps. 2.28 shows "State Dress" again, but this time dismounted.

@@MrTrapdrummer I agree with you, Mr T. I am open to correction, of course, as always, but my understanding has been that when the band was parading on foot, in full dress, they wore red plumes, except for the Bandmaster, who wore white. The rest of the Regiment wore white plumes. I believe that the custom prevails to this day, that when a trumpeter is parading in full dress, mounted, he still wears a red plume. The only other exceptions are the farriers, who wear black. State Dress for the band is as it was, except that the Royal cipher changes with each new monarch. You will probably have seen the change on State Dress since King Charles ascended the throne, the changes being repeated on the uniforms of the Yeomen of the Guard, the Yeomen Warders of the Tower, among other small but important changes. Another fine recording, may I say

@@peterscrafton5212 Yes, the red band plumes survived until 1951, when George VI ordered them to be changed to white, the same as the rest of the regiment. He didn't specifically mention the trumpeters, so they have managed to get away with it until the present day!!! The bandmasters and Directors of Music have indeed generally worn white plumes, although Miller of the 1st Life Guards wore red, until commissioned in 1919 when he changed to white.
