I’d love to see you do a breakdown of your fight with Umar and things you would do differently against him in the future. Your defensive wrestling might be the blueprint to countering the Dagestani style if people can learn from it and develop it

even if you stuff the takedowns, they're still gonna shoot and keep you guessing, and if you're facing someone as good as umar on the striking, that will open you up so you're cooked either way your best chance is a lucky punch

@@clkgtr12Lol lucky punch, gimme a break. The dude isn't invincible and he has plenty of flaws. He almost got KOd by a short notice debutant before the Cory fight and it was not a lucky punch.

Sad for Ortega, but really happy for Lopez. He's such an exciting prospect from his first fight in the UFC and if he improves his defense a bit I can see him holding a title someday. Right now I would be worried seeing him vs Topuria, but he still has time.

Loving all the love being given to Topuria in this breakdown. That man has special talent, but his cockiness blinds many people to it, and his dismissal of Max Holloway makes that rabid fan-base go nuts about Ilia.

I would think that this type of counter punching is very energy consuming? And also opponents will draw your counters and rush you after your combo ends.
@almazingsk8er
@almazingsk8er 3 ай бұрын
It is indeed very energy consuming, and you can see it with just how hard Lopes hits. Hes planting and throwing HARD. Dude’s conditioning is definitely next level but he does also tend to slow down a bit after the first round

Anyone know why lopes is always scratching his adams apple? Is it just a nervous tic?
@dankjedi9243
@dankjedi9243 3 ай бұрын
They asked him this in the post fight interview. It's not a tick; it's an injury from childhood that itches while he's fighting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWKWp5uQo72IhbM

@@waynzignordicsit isnt a conventional tic like poiriers short grab, he said his adams apple gets itchy during fighting.
@waynzignordics
@waynzignordics 3 ай бұрын
@@backroomsdurkio There's always a "feeling" that prompts the tic -- for Lopes it's an itch, and for Poriere it's "grab the shorts." If you want to understand how tics work, look into the condition called OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). It's the same underlying phenomena.

Ortega never had hands never ever ever ever ever had a hands. I don't know why he doesn't take a page out of Jon Jones. A guy that doesn't have hands is to use your Muay Thai elbows and hand fighting to substitute for your lack of boxing skills. The moment he does that he becomes world champion, it becomes harder to get beat. He did that with the Korean zombie and even looked like a world champion against the Korean zombie. Now he thinks he's a boxer Jiu-Jitsu fighter. His opponent showed him that he's not that guy
