I moved to México after hurricane Patricia 3 years ago and I describe the difference in people's compassion (and level of Fear) between the US and México like this: here in México, no matter my skin color, etc, I feel like I could walk down any street anywhere knocking on doors at 4 am and 95% of the people would open their doors, offer me water and food, with many of them offering me a place to sleep and incredibly treating me like family even, whereas in most places in the US, 95% of the people would not open their doors, many would call the police and many of those that did open their doors would only do so to let their dog after you or to put a gun in your face and perhaps 5% would at least pass you a bottle of water or help more. The difference in compassion is extraordinary, and beautifully so from this point of view!

Racism is definitely a thing in Mexico and Latin America overall. White skin and colored eyes are preferred and seen as superior. However it takes a different form to some extent than here in the U.S. but what is very common in poor countries is compassion towards others and extending a helping hand it's more common especially in the past. Say I feel its changing a bit
@sithous
@sithous 5 жыл бұрын
I think racism doesn’t exist in Mexico, what does exist might be discrimination, prejudice and social status more than the race of the person. After all during the World Cup Mexicans ended up celebrating at the Korean embassy and lift a Korean in sign of gratitude and celebration even with chants.

What many people didn't notice was how great Diego Luna portrayed Felix Gallardo. His such a sweet, goofy, likable person but that entire persona is covered by his portrayal of Felix. Also what made Luna's portrayal of Gallardo so good was that you root for his character. Only sometimes does it happen that a bad guy is actually likable and that will depend on how the actor will play it.

One thing that I have learned from almost 90 percent of his interviews that I've seen is that, I've never heard a guy being so honest about the drug problem and about it still being a big problem in today's world and ESPECIALLY his fearlessness about talking about the stakes of "Powerful People", indicating towards the politicians and large organizations, in giving this drug business a push, about their involvement in the expansion of this dirty business. This guy has lately been the most honest and fearless guy in the entertainment industry, according to my observation. I hope he keeps up this honesty and fearlessness.

Once his first scene came in , I knew that this is a very familiar face from years ago. But i didn’t take more than a min to realize he is the food cart guy from the Tom Hanks movie the terminal. I never thought some one can be this successful after so many years looking at his initial roles in his career. Excellent acting and perfect choice by the casting team

@LEGIONARIO1970
@LEGIONARIO1970 3 жыл бұрын
@@rahulgianchandani588 In 2006 the corrupt politician Felipe Calderón took office as President of Mexico and immediately saw the opportunity to take advantage of the cartels rivalry who at this point were still operating relatively peacefully and at least under some "rules of honor", by he way there were around 6 or 7 big organizations in those days as a result of the fragmentation the Netflix serie mentions. So, in 2007 the Government made a secret alliance with the strongest one, both the Sinaloa cartel and the corrupt Government started fighting the other gangs together with the simple objective of taking the whole country for themselves, "the big fish eats the smaller ones". Of course officially they told us that this was "a necessary war against all the cartels to put an end to the drugs traffic .....blahh, blahh, blahh" (bull shit), when in fact they were protecting one of them and getting rid of the others. The carnage began, dozens and dozens of deaths of all sides everyday almost everywhere especially in the northern States, and the "honor" that they used to have just went straight to hell and we started to witness horrible things like brutal forms of torture, decapitations, masacres, bombs and even women and children being killed, everyone who was in some way related or close to a rival gang member or a police officer was a legit target. In Mexico the police has this terrible reputation of being corrupt, only the military can say they are cleaner with some exceptions of course and still not enough to end this madness, plus the military has always had the disadvantage of working with one hand tied, why? because of the corrupt politicians who rule the country. Things look to start changing slightly lately for the better but there's a lot of work to be done yet. Greetings from Mexico.

Natalie Salajczyk Your criticism is valid, but I believe his style is more him making an observation (the rambling of which you speak) and point of his own, then allowing the guest to agree/disagree and elaborate. It works for me because he makes very astute observations from a comedic, yet very real standpoint that gets to the meat of an issue. He’s not “rambling” just to hear himself talk, in my most humble opinion. To each his own. Thanks for your comment.

Natalie Salajczyk He’s good at letting his guests speak, with few interruptions. I think his way of “rambling” can be endearing and shows a real need of getting/ wanting to know about the other person. Surgical, precise, interviewing tact’s are not really the best way to get people to open up, I think. My only “problem” with Trevor is that he can ask a question and avoid looking the person in the eye, as much as he perhaps should. I could be wrong but sometimes he’s looking into the distance instead of making better eye contact.

I now fearing going and have only began to go back 3 years ago to see my family. I only for for the winter holidays and I go with fear. I miss the days of the freedom we had with no fear of coming and going. And now I fear if I go back as a naturalize citizen I may not be able to get back through the Laredo border if I go for New Year's. :S I hope Mexico becomes a safer place for the sake of it's people. The safer and less corrupt Mexico becomes, less immigrants will feel desperation to leave to the country. (I believe) I am very lucky and fortunate to be part of the US and Mexico. I have been goin yo México got the past 6 years once or twice a year for a couple of weeks and I go around Michoacán, which is one of the “most dangerous” states, and I have never come across anything that makes me feel afraid for my life. Talebird K is right if you don’t go and hung out with the wrong crowd and just go do your thing you will be safe most of the time. There are some instances where tourists get hurt but those are not as common as people that go to Mexico have fun and come back safe and sound to the US. You can watch many videos from KZbinrs from around the world living and traveling around Mexico and nothing happens to them. I wish you can give yourself a chance to go to Mexico travel around and enjoy your time with out being paranoid because if you will be a victim of an attack it could pretty well be here in the US
