Some people are critising Trevor for not buying her grandmother a house and new furniture. Just to let you know, if you read Trevor's book Born a Crime, Trevor explains that gogo doesn't want her furniture refurbished and certainly she doesn't want to be moved. And that applies to all our South African gogo's actually, the furniture and the house is part of them, they don't define success by flashy things but are content with life and memories!

food , the idea of a „white genocide“ in South Africa is a frequent talking point among white nationalists worldwide. Fact checkers have widely identified the notion of a „white genocide“ in South Africa as a falsehood or myth. This is one reason why Trevor‘s grandmother shouldn‘t discuss that. Another one is easy: She doesn‘t have anything to do with these scrambled thoughts of yours.
Trevor is a coward. He’s using his grandma as a shield so he can make digs at whites.

Yes! Often my grandmothers have been to my home and my parents home and say it's too big!

Sensible people find it strange that you'd look at a person's home, along with microwaves, TVs, and plumbing and look down on them.

As long as they can manage living there (health-wise) it makes sense. That's where all their memories and friends are.

She's 91 and speaking clearly. I bet she outlives everyone here. But racism? Call me the common sense doctor

God bless you’re grandmother! She is 91 years old, and she is more educated than most of us. I respect her, and all her wisdom.

(I am sorry; please feel free to ignore me; I mean no disrespect. "You're" means "you are," as in, "you are grandmother." I think you mean to say "your," which indicates belonging to someone.)

(Also, you used the first comma correctly, it comes before an "and," and it separates two complete thoughts. The second comma, however, separates two thoughts that are not complete, making it incorrect. You can say "I respect her and all her wisdom," or you can say "I respect her, and I respect all her wisdom." Please do not think I am correcting you because your grammar was bad, but rather, your grammar is very good, and these are the two things that would make it perfect.)

Ahem... I think you meant to say 91 years and 9 months

@@daianmoi8528 Nothing wrong with fixing a typo. I appreciate that you took the time, and warned me about my mistake. I was using my phone so it was auto corected to you're instead your, because I use you're a whole lot. Thank you though.

I'm not black but I'm Mexican and most of these customs are done in really small pueblos in Mexico. Like every time you pass by someones house and they are sitting outside you great them even if you don't know them even waking by each other on the dirt road you great each other. People also build very similar houses and build that same security broken glass top wall 😂. You literally have to walk to the toilet in outside "room" sort of like a plumberified outhouse and they make driveways as if people really owned cars. Knock before you enter the house even when the door is always opened and they're your family!!!! Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful and humble part of your life. Respect, love, and god bless you and your beautiful grandmother!!!!
