Dan Campbell they were indeed special. I knew they were something special in 1977 when I got my first Rush album and heard 2112 for the first time. BLOWN AWAY! I listened to that album over and over and each new album that came out I’d “Rush out” to get the next installment. But it wasn’t until I was on a US Navy destroyer in the middle of the Mediterranean that I really appreciated Farewell to Kings and drowned myself in Xanadu that the extent of their talent really set in. At my first port of call I went looking for a record shop and bought Moving Pictures and thought that there was no way they could top the recent albums but man was I wrong. ......... Now I’m getting old and I am moved with emotion listening to their mastery wishing I had seen them more than just once live. They will be remembered as the most talented rock n roll band in history!!

Lifeson's preciseness and subtlety on a solo like La Villa Strangiato is underrated. I know everyone says he's underrated but it takes real musicianship to write and perform something like what we see from 2:17 to 3:43. It's those little details. Even the way it transitions off into those palm mutes is excellent in how it phases to the next part of the song. As where another guitarist would have gone right into the hard part of the solo, Alex builds up to it carefully with delicately placed bends until it reaches that suspense point.

actually, only Geddy and Alex went to school. Neil joined through an audition ad on a newspaper.

any one of them in a band would be awesome all three in one band is perfection at its best no click track to keep them together they just knew each other and trusted that the other two were as fantastic as any one individual on that stage R.I.P Professor thanks for the memories

This is the first time I've smiled watching a Rush video in a week. Too soon Neil, far too soon. Man they were having fun that night though.

The smile on Neil's face was priceless. Just goes to show how much fun they had and the crowd as well. Every time I saw them live it was an adventure - never a dull moment. The three of them were the best of friends making incredible music for more than four decades. There will never be another band like Rush. RIP Professor.

Best progressive band in history in my opinion. I saw them unfortunately only once in their decades of touring and it was on their Roll the Bones tour and Primus opened for them. I was only maybe 16, a band geek in school and I absolutely knew the masters that I was seeing and listening to on that stage! Unforgettable! Their songs always bring back memories and excitement! I miss the professor. He inspired my drum and percussion skills and many of us owe thanks to him, Alex and Geddy for bringing us such sweet melodies and beats! They were pretty much the best out of many musicians at their craft.

We got nearly 50 years out of three nerds who just happened to be arguably the greatest of their craft ever. Rush will live on forever.
