As was pointed out ealier, that is a "Floor Furnace" and it is used to heat the house. We had one in the late fifties and early sixties. The house is still there and the floor furnace still works. They ran on Natural Gas.

That's pretty based, I won't lie. I wished today's cookie cutter houses up North had them standard.

@@nomadhomad3685 They were usually in the hallway and they ARE a true furnace. They work best if you use a fan to spread the heat out around the rest of the hose. The "ends' of the house -- we lived in what are called "shotgun houses" -- can get quite cold, while the center is burning up.

Because hot air rises, this is the best style of house heating …awesome observation and I agree ☝️ 🍻

Your videos are the next best thing to being there. I have eye opener for you. White closed cell foam, 1/4" thick, scissor your own artificial baits. They float well, stay on hook and they work well. A drop of liquid scent, custom.

A floor heater, oh we have fond memories of stepping on it barefooted. It leaves a waffled imprint on the bottom of your feet. We soon converted to a wall heater. After everyone in the house had a resound experience of hopping around going ew ouch ew ouch After stepping on the Thing! Whoever created those heaters, Must be in hades by now... One other thing you should never do, is go fishing in the privy.

It's crazy sometimes the things you find in a b&b! One time I stayed in St. George UT, and as we were checking out this sweet guest house, we open a closet full of guns and ammo😳 ...it was just there fully stocked with no lock on the door! You can imagine we didn't sleep that night! Be thankful all you found was an old floor heater!😄 Great video my bro!!☝️🇺🇲

@@geraldlair2888 it was a guest house for strangers to come and sleep. So you have no problem leaving an entire arsenal full of guns open to strangers? Yeah.. really dude! I wasn't trying to say that I'm afraid of guns or anti guns. It's the crazy stuff you find, was my point. There is more to the story but I wanted to keep it short☝️🇺🇲

My young son waffle burned his bare feet one time on a neighbor's hot floor furnace grill. Love the fishing videos! As a challenge, try steelhead fishing in other Northern California areas like Walker Creek, Salmon Creek, Russian River, and Gualala. Good luck!

The dorsal fin tends to get worn from the concrete in the hatchery drifts and the fish tend to nip at each other. This is at least the case for hatchery trout. I'd imagine it happens to the Steelhead as well.

Bomber fishing for steelhead is definitely fun! Used to do it all the time fishing the Rogue River in Rockford Michigan growing up. Barely get to do any of it now living in the bay. Great video my dude hope to run into you one day fishing on the yak 🤙

I’m pretty sure only the tagged kings are clipped, and not all hatchery fish are tagged. Idk if they tag the steelhead and do the same thing but just because it has all its fins might not mean it’s not a hatchery fish.

Adam, much respect mas always for you as an angler. I have a couple of questions for you. Hopefully good ones. First: What do you feel are the advantages / disadvantages of Steelhead fishing on a river with & without waders vs from the shore? I can think of a few but would welcome your opinion. Second: Would you be up for a one time guided tour one of these days. I've got Fridays and Saturdays and some Thursdays off? It would be awesome to go out with you and learn the craft first-hand. I imagine you get this second question often and it may not be practical. I'm predominantly a trout fly angler but have be very encouraged by you, Taku, Nick, Die Hard and the rest over the past few years to go out shore fishing and have learned much from all of you.

I was just curious, why after you set the hook do you drop your rod down and and aim it up stream. Why don’t you just keep your rod up afterwards? I heard you complain about losing a fish and you were mentioning barbless hooks but I always notice you drop that rod and aim it up stream. Good video by the way! I hope to see more steelhead footage!

You are hooking up rainbow trout that’s is not steelhead trout.
@odhecaton
@odhecaton 10 ай бұрын
Ummm...same dif. On this river, technically ALL rainbows you catch are considered "steelhead," even if they are smolts which haven't yet been to sea. It's hard to tell, in fact. Some locals say that a 9"-12" smolt that will eventually go to sea will already be "silvery" colored, more than a resident rainbow. But it's hard to know. I caught four on this river this season, but sadly all were 10-12" pre-ocean smolts. Only one was sorta chrome-ish, the others looked as green & red as any "normal" rainbow. The regs are that if you catch a trout in this body of water, you mark it on your steelhead report card, regardless -- because you just have no way of knowing.
