You made the right decision. I did the breast implant reconstruction. Ended up getting cancer from the implants (BIA-ALCL). The implants also caused autoimmune Hashimotos thyroiditis, hyperparathyroidism (both due to my body reacting to the implants). 3 years later, I am still trying to regain my health, and hope to do DIEP in a few months. The implants cost me my career (which requires a medical certification), my health, and nearly my life.

Thanks for sharing, I am glad you are now cancer free! I had diep flap with double mastectomy in 2019 and feel like I healed really well. As I watch some of these videos about recovery and pain I don't remember having a lot of pain. I took a few pain killers the first & second day but didn't need it after that. The drains were a pain in the neck. But actual pain? not much. I think it was because so much of the areas that were affected were numb from the surgeries (and they still are) Pleased with the outcome, glad I did diep

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer January 2023 and I had a bilateral mastectomy 2/8/2024. I will have the DIEP Flap surgery 4/4/24. I would love to talk with you about your journey. We are CONQUERORS! I thank GOD for his GRACE & MERCY of bringing me through despite the Oncologist speaking nothing but death on me because I did it Holistically. Not really. I only had one side done so there is a profound difference in size even after reduction and lift to the good side. I’ve been waiting nearly two years for a revision so my story isn’t over yet. I hope for a better result after I get my revision

This video was SO helpful! Thank you. I was the same way with my DMX and hysterectomy. I chased the pain vs taking them on schedule (I even did that with nausea during chemo; I waited until it's too late and couldn't keep the pills down!). I just had a meeting with my plastic surgeon last week. It was 2 hours long where they tried to hammer in my head how painful it will be. They want me to know the reality of it so I'm preparing for it, which will be in December. I'm not going to lie, it is kind of scary but I'm still going to go for it. I, too, I'm not good with dealing with pain. Thank you for making this video. ❤ I'm happy that I stumbled on this video so much. It's wonderful to get an honest testament to how painful this surgery can be and the reality of it. I've been trying to look for people I can speak with in person so I understand what's coming. However, this video did help a lot. Thank you. ❤

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer May of 2022. I had a double mastectomy October 26th of 2022 and the Nurse practitioner suggested that I get silicone gel. It helped diminish the scars. I just had my DIEP flap surgery on August 3rd of 2023. I will be doing the same regiment. Hopefully that helps someone

I definitely feel there is something there. I’m a 1year & 3 days op….. only pain was from my drains, but my stomach and breast, my doctor did awesome. Thanks for sharing & I kept my meds going every 4/6 hours for two weeks. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I had my surgery done earlier this summer. It was very painful recovery. More than I have ever had, including labor. I had bilateral mastectomy, breast cancer was on my right. She's right, the left breast is amazing looking, very real. Unfortunately, I had significant radiation damage to the cancer side so I have to have a phase 2 to the right breast next year. This is to allow the skin to heal further.

For me I am Picking this one because I don’t want silicone or Celine… If I can’t do the surgery I will stay with the prosthetic boobs… my consultation is August 29th… 2.What is the healing time? I know everyone is different.. Is this surgery worse then having the mastectomy? 3. Was there anything you had to do to prepare for this surgery? Such as getting a breast pillow, cream, ice packs? 4. Is this surgery almost like getting a mini tummy tuck ,being that they are taking the fat from my stomach? 5.Are there any side effects? I’m still dealing with neuropathy… What questions should I ask the doctors besides the ones I am asking you..

I’m at the reconstruction point. I had my consult today. I may have to lose a little weight first. I was told my BMI was a little high. I have a CT scan scheduled to see if I’m eligible for the drip flap surgery.

I had a rough time with my bilateral mastectomy almost 20 years ago. I think it was because I had tissue expanders put in at the same time, but regardless, I couldn’t lie down at all for almost 3 months. I have an implant rupture so I’m thinking about doing this instead. Thank you for sharing!

The stitching wasn't noticeable. It was an incision around the areola, and one straight down under that area
