My diesel heater that I have in my Tennessee camper is the lavaner 5k and I’ve used my laser thermometer and got readings of 490° coming out

I like your ductwork. I have a trailer very much similar to what you have and thought I would do the same thing with my diesel heater by mounting it outside. I was never impressed with the performance so I moved the whole system inside. Works out a lot better now. Keep in mind that I am dealing with some pretty cool temps in the northern Midwest.

@jimsteele7108 thanks! What state are you in? We are in Indiana and with the insulation we have the diesel heater on low has normally been enough once the trailer is warmed up... often open a window still. We use it for deer hunting as well so it gets used sometimes as early as October through springtime. Setting on the ground and keeping diesel outside has been important to us.

Any plastic smell when it’s on high I know that pvc is pretty toxic at certain temperatures

@havilandh1 it's actually never had any smell at all. I think the highest I've seen inside the trailer is right at 200F when I had it pre-heated and running on high. I think this is because it's pulling fresh and cool air from outside. Normally we start it up, may run it on high for 30 minutes to warm up the trailer after traveling in the cold, then turn it down where it runs on a low idle speed for the duration of our stay somewhere.... at which point the constant air temp at the inside vent normally measures around 140F. Our trailer is very well insulated so as many have said with diesel heaters, it's almost easier to control your comfort by opening a window and let it run on low.
