Ed China = awesome Alex and the lads = awesome Combine you lot together = a strangely boring episode. I don't mean to be harsh Alex and co, but this is the first podcast I couldn't watch. I'm not sure why but it was fairly boring. You win some, you lose some I guess. Keep up the otherwise fantastic work

Think Edd and imogen threw a little hissy fit, thinking the show would lose its integrity if they didn't show enough of his mechanical skills. That went well, Wheeler dealers has gone on to be a great show still with probably an even more skilled sidekick.

Edd is such a nice man, followed him in WD and now on his adventure of making things just go 99 mph. He started a flame in me for the engineering side of things and the urge to know how things move, just because he is so in love with what he's doing. Love you all and hope to hear good from you guys for a long long time. Cheers from Romania! (damn never heard of diesel runaway and 70% of cars i think here in Romania are old turbo diesel, THE MORE YOU KNOW, thanks again for the knoledge)

Takes a lot for an engine to wear to that level which is why you don't hear about it too often. It mostly happens with old trucks that are kept alive with steel wire and duct tape.

He saw me looking at him, getting all excited, and he moved all the stuff he was holding over to one hand so he could shake mine should I have offered it. By the way, they said "old" turbo diesel, this can happen to ANY turbo diesel. I've seen it on a 2016 Kuga, there was a leaking injector which diluted the oil, filling up the crankcase to 9L of oil/diesel mix. This made it past all the breather system and into the intake. All turbo diesels are susceptible.
@carmadme4 жыл бұрын
All diesels are susceptible not just turbos
@DjDolHaus864 жыл бұрын
@@carmadme Turbo diesels are far more susceptible though, you need a fairly specific set of circumstances for a non turbo to get enough oil into enough cylinders to allow it to runaway

Edd China is such a brilliant mechanic! He can turn ANY object there is into a vehicle its insane! If its sturdy enough to hold an engine and wheels you can count on him to make it into a moving vehicle. Ahh I still miss the days when he was on Wheeler Dealers being surprised from what Mike would have brought him this time to work on. Still happy to see that show is still on even with a different mechanic which is nontheless also an interesting guy. I swear Edd and Mike are a dream team, world's best mechanic with world's best auto trader!

thank you the runaway topic and Edd China is a really cool guy and telling you the most important. Be prepared stay calm and don't anything silly or if you want to rescue the car. Know what you're doing. Instead of trying to starve the engine of air which never works as the suction is so hard it'll find another way. Look where your oil lines to the turbo are and carry some pliers in your car and in case it does runaway just pinch the oil feed lines. No risk of the engine sucking anything in and changing them with a new turbo usually isn't that big of a cost anyway

It is no joke! I had a compressor side oil seal blow in the turbo on my 300sd. I pulled over, shut off the key... still running (horribly), popped the hood, hit the emergency shut off lever on the pump, still running on that sweet sweet engine oil. I finally got it to shut off by pulling off the filter and choking it out by covering the compressor inlet. What a day.
