I went ahead and picked up a new to me trailer to upgrade from my 12k 18ft CornPro equipment trailer. this trailer should better suit my needs well into the future.

Nice trailer good price on it, new trailer cost is outrages on some, I buy used and repair what is needed, even in the rust belt you still find nice older ones. I put pintle hitches on all my trailers no matter the size, no looking for different hitches. Like your operation and the equipment, you save.

Love the deck over trailer , I'm like you don't really like fenders even with a car trailer. And the lunette ring is way strong for the connection but I would run a 2 5/16s ball to. And yes I like wider ramps I also like the ramps to fold over the dove tail so you have the full length of the trailer flat if you need it. Great buy.

Nice trailer. Congrats. In you application pintle hitches make more sense IMHO. There is a reason the military uses pintle hitches.....quick to connect and strong as can be.

Don't forget that lashing them with straps and chains is also an option that doesn't work with ball hitches

I bought a similar trailer to yours about a year ago . I bought a Kaufman trailer 16,000 gvw. For the most part I like my trailer. I don't care for loading my skid steer on to it. I did a review on my trailer on my channel a while back of pro's and cons. I prefer a ball mount to pineal ring. Enjoy your trailer and thanks for sharing .

No whatsoever experience from this kind of trailers, I live in Sweden (Europe) and brakes on trailers below 7716 lb (3500 Kg) are usually just applied by back-pressure thru mechanical linkage as trailer pulls on the truck. Electrical trailer brakes here have usually a pressure sensor mounted at that ball hitch, however those are not commonly used now days. Anyone that can give general basic info about this type of trailer brakes? I am just curious. Lived in Wisconsin for a while in 2009, got the impression it was OK to haul most things with no brakes or registration on trailer (had an old boat) no memory of even seen a boat trailer with brakes... Grate videos you make, AutoCar truck is my favorite, maybe Meetball will get a ride in it some day...

3:35 Holy crap! In Massachusetts, I pay 140 annually to register my 8000 lbs trailer. I wish I could go up to Maine to register my trailer but taxachusetts made it illegal to pull out of state registered trailers behind Mass. registered vehicles.

I much prefer a pintle hitch too. I plan to put one on the White 4000 Semi tractor I'm working on on. It has a wet kit and I'd like to put a lift and flat dump bed on it, then hang boxes under for compressor & welder and use it as my utility/service truck. With a pintle hitch I can pull my brothers extra equipment trailer behind it. There's no telling what I'll drag home LOL. I always enjoy seeing what you're up to. Look forward to the next one.

Pintle is where it's at man. Always preferred a pintle over a ball for obvious reasons. Way stronger, easier to hook up to, and more versatile than the ball hitch. I've always used them on everything I've towed. Nice trailer indeed. Meatball is a great pup. Hes hilarious to watch 👍😎

Here in SD if you run commercial plates on trucks, you can purchase a U-plate for trailer. Cost is $20 and can only be pulled with a commercial truck. Plate is good forever.

I upgraded from a homemade flat deck trailer that was about 15ft 6in long and only about 5.5ft wide to a beavertail car mate 18ft car hauler a couple years ago, and it made a world of difference! properly build and weight distributed trailers handle so much better.

Nice pick-up on that trailer. My uncles would regularly spray the underside of their trailers and vehicles with used motor oil. Kept them rust free and most important it kept the road salt of it. They lasted for many years that way.

I don't know why but I've thought about this a lot. You could get a converter dolly to tow the low boy with your dump truck. I know weight ratings wouldn't line up exactly but it's just a thought. Also I kept chuckling to myself since you had a pintle hitch and another adjustable hitch in the chain box talking about drilling holes in your hitch plate and I was like "no other combination of those hitches will work?" I do know curt has some beefy wildly adjustable hitches with interchangeable towing attachments that can be had from Amazon as well

Where I live, Ontario Canada, the max width of a trailer is 8'6" between the rub rails. According the MTO, any safety equipment, ie. mirrors, rub rails, etc., can exceed the max width of trailer or vehicle. Plus if the safety chains are too long, we are allowed to twist the chains so they don't drag on the ground.

I know I'm late here but Id chacne all the lights to LED's and add a couple of 6"LED Led Housings up front on top and maybe a couple at the rear (if not underneath ) for load and unloading sometimes ya just need the light! Those ramps I'd just get some angle iron of the size (or just wider to overlap) used there, cut what you got down the middle and cut some 10 in lengths, center them (over lap the 2in on each end/side) and weld them on both sides (top and underneath should be plenty strong).

I'm partial to PJ branded trailers, but that's likely because I own one. It's a gooseneck tilt deck trailer. After I pulled it to Kansas and back I don't think I'll ever switch back to a traditional bumper pull. Try a gooseneck they pull and maneuver great. Doesn't help much on your dump truck, but would be great for the truck.

I have an Appalachian gooseneck trailer. i think it is a 2003. I bought it 1-1/2 years ago to go to NJ to get a press brake. I do not use it regularly but it seems like an OK piece. Thanks for the video.

Use CRC rust converter on the underside of the trailer and then coat that in RP-342 "heavy" it works amazing... I did my truck frame like this and it has yet to start rusting again and i live in MI and drive it all winter long.

(I know this is on an old video but I’m on a DC binge) but we bought a 22 foot iron bull tilting deck over. We threw a 25k ball on there and it’s the greatest ball hitch ever. It has a flared coupler and a super nice latch. Always have used ball hitches but once had a rental trailer with a pintle, but yeah this turned out to be a good purchase.

I personally hate pintles because of the noise and banging around but the heaviest thing I haul is a Farmall Super M. You do want a pintle to make the most of your trailers capacity. I think my CAM Superline deck over (sweet trailer, I love it) is 11,500 with 2-5/16" ball but full 12,000 if a pintle is used. I'm running the 2-5/16" ball.

A small amount of grease on the contact points of the pintle hook and receiver will minimize the squirting when you pull it. Makes hooking and unhooking a little bit of a mess, but a good tradeoff. Nice looking trailer.

Just picked up a new trailer to me also! 2000 tri axle gooseneck. 20 + 5 . Needs some paint, wiring and tires. Couldn’t go wrong for $1500... On the other hand, power wash that house bud drives me nuts lol. I enjoy the videos, keep it up!

Nice trailer. I've got one pretty similar. Odd things. In Minnesota those pintle/ball combo things are not legal. Got a warning from the DOT so I had to mothball those. The chain tray cover is essential here too. We got tagged for unsecure load because of chains and binders in the tray. Just had to throw a bungie strap over them, but still; $400 fine.
