Hey @KZbin , how come there is nothing that seems to being done about the telegram scams that are posted by the thousands? It is difficult to keep up with removing them when they get posted hundreds at a time , anytime of the day and night. Seems like with all of these algorithms, that there has to be a way to stop this from happening?

Tell me about it! I remember helping to split a tractor in the paddock to change the clutch, because we would have been crawling around in the dirt back home anyway, so why bother dragging it all that way when it didn't gain us better facilities. Different now. Now we have a roof, and a concrete floor, and an overhead crane. SOOOO much nicer.

I've seen so many slabs where they walk down the rebar or mesh and pour right over it without pulling it up into the mud. Pedestals/ highchairs are a cheap investment to keep the steel up in the slab but I'm amazed how many crews don't use them. As a backyard mechanic that has laid on the dirt for 30 years I can totally understand how excited you are to have a flat floor to work on that is heated . For example something as simple as using a floor jack to put under a vehicle is a dream on cement. And yes I now have a garage that I can do my repairs in and I still have a smile on my face after years of using the cement floor every time I have a repair to do, it just doesn't get any better than that. Congratulations!

I worked in concrete (flat work - as we called it) for 1 summer back in my younger days. I learned enough to be able to set my own forms for pours I want to do. I've set up pours for several slabs, a 2 foot wide by 6 foot tall by 18' long retaining wall, and a $13,000 driveway. Saves a lot of money when you just have to have the crew come out rather than them spending days on prep. Smaller slabs, it would just be me and the finish guy. The driveway had about 8 guys. I stayed out of the way for that one. Your concrete guys were amazing. I love the stress cuts they made and how they angle cut the floor drains. Perfect!

Congrats, Matt. Pretty exciting day indeed! I remember the day we poured concrete in my pole barn like it was yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs that morning, but my concrete guys were working inside and paid no mind to the weather outside. The owner told me he had to keep a close eye on his finishing guy, because he'd keep going until he had a mirror finish if he didn't stop him. I wanted a little texture left because a bit of traction is a good thing when you come inside with snow on your boots or tires for that matter.

I've poured a lot of concrete and I wasn't so impressed. With that boom I suppose they didn't really need to pour in any pattern. The machine was doing the work for them. But if they did it the regular way with pipe and flex hose they'd have had to been more methodical about their moves then. Every piece of flex weighs 300 pounds when it is full. And you're dragging it. You have to be real careful when you drag it too otherwise it'll split open. Then you have to dig the clamp out of the concrete, wash it off and reattach the hoses. Which is less fun than it sounds to do. You have to stick your hand in the hose and dig the concrete out of the hose. It sucks!

And they'd been doing it their whole lives. They'd be out there with a white wash brush blessing the concrete with some water. Probably was holy water they were using. You have to bring up the fat.

Probably one of the best videos, You've been really fortunate to have great work crews on site who deliver the quality you are paying for. I reckon you should get some vehicles and equipment setup inside and have some smoke machines and lighting and record an exclusive Semi Supervillians video to baptise the new shop. With all that roof surface area I'd set up a rain water harvesting system and collect that free sky juice which would be ideal for vehicle and equipment wash down and possibly a backup fire fighting system

I thoroughly enjoy watching all your videos, but the ones where something is being built or assembled are my favorite. The detail you include is very good, and I am a huge fan. I'm sporting my long sleeve red DC t-shirt today. The first part of the video with the gutters was fantastic. Each time I observe some activity that would be considered somewhat unsafe I literally laugh out loud as I think of your "OSHA Violations" tune. DC and Andrew Camarata are by far the best two YT channels. Thank you so much for bringing us (I mean me) along.

Matt, I have a suggestion you should do, the down spouts for you workshop empty on the ground just feet away from you building footers, after a while the ground is going to get very very soft and your footers will tend to sink deeper, and deeper, you will start to see your building getting misshapen and twisting, so do as I had to do to my home, bury drainage pipes to the bank I see, so the water will drain down hill away from you footers, I had to do it to my home I inherited so much water over the years had softened the dirt under my carport, and the wall in my basement had been pushed in 2 inches of the cinder block, some time I'm going to have to have the car port floor jack hammered out and removed and the dirt pulled out and refill it with small stone down below grade, the drainage pipes now keep all the water away from the foundation! at least 20 feet away from the foundation, in another spot the ground got too soft and the fireplace bricks had separated one full seam that is about 10 feet of separation! Matt, that you must do or in the long run you'll pay dearly for not listening to my advice!!

When they started finishing, I was worried you didn't plan the notch for the doors, but I see it in the finished product. The continuous laser check is the only way to keep it level. I was watching and remembering back in the day. We was doing a pretty big slab for a farmer and started early as usually and we was going to be there all day. Got done pouring a jar magged it and we was all sitting on buckets at the end of it and a big old female deer came running down the inside of it and did a power slide when we all stood up and did a hell of a mess getting out. We had told the farmer to lock up his dogs and cats because of that. He was seeing with us and we all looked at him and he said that's not my deer. We all ran like crazy into it with our hands mags and went like crazy. We got done and it actually turned out really good. Farmer invited us all to go deer hunting that fall no strings attached.

I like the idea of no gutters. Determine where the water falls. Pour a concrete trough in that spot to stop it from digging out the dirt. The advantage is you don't ever have to clean out the gutters. I have those leaf stopping shields over my gutters. And my gutters are full of pine straw and can't be cleaned out unless I remove those shields which means tearing them out and repairing the resulting damage to the roof. I highly recommend against those leaf stoppers.

its always a pleasure to watch experts in their field do there thing the gutters blew my mind doing such long runs in one go. the concrete team pulled out the stops and knocked it out of the park your reactions to everything speaks volumes as you seem to have seen a lot from good to bad

I was so looking forward to this video Matt, those concrete placers/finishers are top notch! What a beautiful job, I was just as excited as you were watching them.there is just something about seeing the floor come together ,and having that feeling of a big step completed, done a self build, and know where you are come at. Been a mixer driver/pump operator for 26 years ,and it was coolTo see that DY concrete pump, their dealership started out here in Calgary Alberta, but since moved assembly in Texas, I’m gonna take a guess ,and say it took between 60 -65 yards of concrete? Well super happy for ya Matt ! The rest is gonna fall into place .👍🇨🇦

You know DP Mike is absolutely jealous. Matt will you be using a ((Clean Fire Outdoor Wood Furnaces)) to heat the shop and floor? ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓🤔🤔Gonna need a big industrial water heater for sure and probably a good idea to add anti freeze to keep it from freezing when your not going to be there for an extended period of time. Like hanging out with Mike or on a Vaca with the Misses.

Looking Good! I tell 'ya, it would be cheaper to put an engineered fabric down on your roads before you re-gravel. You would not have any more mud pumping trashing the drives & you need less gravel on top. Makes a road that can carry more load and requires less maintenance. Build a roll dispenser to make it easier & then sell it when you are done to get some money back.
