True story. I left Fort Worth with a Penske box truck, it threw a fan into the radiator just before Albuquerque, it got towed to Albuquerque to their shop, moved everything to the second Penske truck. It broke down 20 miles outside of Albuquerque, that one got towed back to Albuquerque, they told me I drove through the mud and fouled a sensor, which I did not, they cleaned the mud off and I took off again. It made it outside of Albuquerque to route 66 and died again, they towed it back to Albuquerque. They couldn’t find me the third truck. So I locked it, flew back to Fort Worth, worked a shift at the fire department, flew back to Albuquerque with my wife the day after my work shift, got the stuff moved to the third Penske truck now, and it started shaking with a transmission problem.. top speed of 45 mph all the way to Las Vegas. I unloaded my brothers stuff and flew back to Fort Worth with my wife. I will never again lease a Penske.

A trick about wasp nests or Yellow Jacket nests... those bees are territorial so you inflate a paper bag and hang it near to the nest, with in a couple of feet of it, and they will quickly move to a new location.

The KMC log skidder was originally built by FMC and was based on the M113 armored personnel carrier, only made out of steel, not aluminum. The bushings in the sprockets provide preload for the suspension. Kootenay tractor in Canada was the dealer and bought the business when FMC went out of the skidder business…. Last FMC ones were built in Lexington, KY.

@40:35 - My ex-father-in-law had a coal hauler truck in a little town called Newport, PA that had the 4-53. He hauled coal for most of the town. He usually fired up the 4-53 Detroit about 3:30 am on haul days. You could hear that thing screaming up that valley for miles. The people of the town knew that sound well. Back in that time, he gave us free stove coal. I never complained.

Turns out KMC still makes those KMC 1400's from 9:00. It was sold as a KMC 1400 but looks to be a 1500. Looks to be Canadian, not soviet/german despite the soviet-influenced track that look almost as if they're shortened T54 style tracks/road wheels. Good stuff.

One of those Cat 920's would be nice and not actually bad price. Now that FMC/KMC skidder, you need to only approach that at high noon with a stake and cross. Saw a few of those on west coast in the '70's and 80's. and some later in the KMC reincarnation. Nobody that I knew had one or wanted one. Undercarriages did not hold up in the woods.

Ok, so if that's an M35A2, then it was originally a Duece and a Half that someone ripped the cargo bed off of and welded that 5th wheel to the frame. The smallest military tractor we had were M52 5T tractors. Either you can use it as a parts truck for your existing Deuce or you can dump a bunch of money to try to restablish the cargo bed. I wouldn't think you were looking for a fleet of Deuces. Of course, the great thing with the Deuce was your dreams are the lmit as to what you can do with the exposed frame. We had a Deuce with an Auger that was used for setting Telephone poles.

Wow a TM grove crane for that money is insane. At 70,000 pounds im guessing a 20 to 25 toner depending on boom length. Thats a money maker. Thats a picking beast. I made a fortune with a tM150 and a TM 250... Thats a great crane for hanging trusses and it will pick way over what its rated for. i ran them things for years. We had a 15 25 and 30 toner. We used the 471 detroits in the uppers and pulled the lowers and placed 871 detroits from firetrucks. in them so we could run 70 mph down the highway. i once did 3 jobs in three states in one day. I love the old groves. We placed old firetruck drivelines in them. I would love to give you some pointers on them. In PA they get tagged as as farm equioment which is double bonus. Looks to me to be a tm250. Cool shit and one of the best machines ever built. No permits to move and only rated at 75 percent of what it can lift. i cant tell if it has fly in it or not. But Fly and jib you can get 117 feet of boom in that and lift any dam thing you want. Well kind of lol. probably already has the auxillary trans in it. Imagine it with a 871 or 892 in the lower with a roadranger, trans. them detroits rock. Old firetrucks drivelines are cheap. You can easilly get 150 a hour on rentals. Door to door means you can get 16 hrs a day rental somedays and work 8. if theres a pin at end it means it has a fly. Thats a whole nother boom inside the boom. We have lifted 80000 pounds with our tm250. Not suggested tho not experienced with it. Rcroissette@comcast,net

I used to own an M38A1, a post WW2 jeep which became the CJ5. Somebody who also owned one once told me "If you put $10,000 in to it, you will have a really nice $5,000 jeep!".

You hit the lottery with the connex boxes. Heaters, steel, etc. The explosion proof light fixtures in those things are a small fortune. Plastic storage tanks have so many uses, too many to list. The sewer ones I would cut the tops off and make some little fish ponds.

That M818 brought back many memories, including the 32 of them I was responsible for during the Persian Gulf War 1990-91. I logged 27+K miles in eight months driving and fixing the trucks and assigned trailers; all my vehicles returned fully operational back to Ft. Hood, Tx.

@@DieselCreek actually, you may have an original tractor, look at the data plate to see if it has a designation of M48 or M275. The M48 used the full length 2-1/2 ton chasis like the M35 while the M275 had a shorter chassis, this being the one of rarest in the M35 truck series. Sadly I’m not sure if there’s a build record by chasis number available to us. In essence the M275 was the equivalent of a “yard tractor”.
