Talking to a diesel mechanic for the forklifts we had, engine wise they where pretty good fleet of over 60, he said the worst thing they ever did with a diesel engine is remove the governer or restrictor basically if left at 2000 or whatever revs they will last all day long like generators, once you rev them up and down it changes everything, in warehouse or JCB work where they run a hydraulic pump mostly they are great rev between 2000rpm to 3000rpm but once put into a road vehicle and you need to rev them constantly to get the speed up it won't last for too long the type of engine in this is designed for long periods of low revving once you start moving a vehicle over 30 mph you have to rev it up and that huge up and down doesn't work unless you gear it to keep low revs with a great gearbox this might be genius probably way better than the standard engine but it's not designed for speed slow and steady is what it's made for!

Firstly congrats on a beautiful build and even better attire! In Australia, we got the Land Rover 110 with the Isuzu 4BD1 (3.9ltrs) from the factory. This is like a modern version of this. 4 cylinder 4.4 litres!!! Forget the BHP, the torque pulses are going to be massive. The R380 (even when upgraded) struggles with the Isuzu 4BD1T (4 cylinder 3.9 litre) due to the torque. It is going to be interesting to see how it goes. Why not keep the JCB gearbox with a modified LT230 gear ratios? Would have been hard to resist going with JCB yellow, but it would have been like 'Big Bird' from Sesame Street coming down the road!!!
