They should make ground anchors for this machine to keep stable winching like in the movie into the storm titus
@dbomber69
@dbomber69 Жыл бұрын
The spikes should actually be in the back of the skid steer. With them in the front it will act like a pivot and can flip the skid when pulling a large amount of weight. Especially since the center of balance is so far forward with the winch on it. In the front will work but the back is more stable.

Not attacking you here. Just pointing some things out. It was designed by someone else, in CAD. Sent to the plasma table where everything is cut precisely to fit. All he did was weld it up. Some of the welds looked like they needed a root pass that wasn't done. The centre plate was fully welded to the frame all the way around where it doesn't need to be. Welds are brittle and tracked skid steer machines vibrate A LOT. Once welds crack (and they will) the crack will follow the weld all the way. Should be stitch welded. Faster, strong enough. Doesn't allow a path for the crack. He doesn't wear any protective gear. I.E. getting burnt in the ear. And sticks his face right into the toxic smoke with no respirator or ventilated mask. Finally, it didn't fit. Despite being designed in CAD (I assume they measured the backing plate for the design) I could teach 80% of people aged between 25-50 to fabricate something like this. They've got all the best gear.

@@1one3_Racing exactly they are regulary skilled or even maybe sometimes below average fab workers, with good new expensive gear, and common people see their creations as work of magic its probably because its more expensive for dave to have extremely skilled guys on payroll, and pay them extra to perform for camera, than it is to buy a regular guy a new welding hood, and a new welding machine, i doubt the cad design was in house anyway

You need to put something on the glass door to protect the operator from something flying back that broke during the winching process. See Robbie Layton's winch on his smaller skidloader.

@@allamericanlandclearing6577 Yes they are front heavy but the way they work is by digging into the ground to create the anchor. Why wouldn't stock motor and hydraulic pump work? That machine has high enough flow to run it on the pump side and its close to 100 hp as well. The thing that is concerning is you are relaying on two little 1" at best pins to hold that on to the machine. Would of been better if they was able to figure out how to attach it to the dozer blade attachment point.

Here’s a tip that I learned to help put on tint: float on all of your difficult vinyl projects by adding a squirt of Dawn didishwashing liquid into a squeeze bottle filled with water. shake the bottle before you and spray liberally all over the area to be wrapped then use the squeegee to force out all the water from beneath your wrap and your final product. there’s also a hell of a lot less bubbles when you float on a wrap.

Sweet build I’m wondering how that attachment plate on the machine will hold up to the force pulling high on it through the boom portion, hopefully it doesn’t try to pry it away from the machine. I assume you didn’t choose to mount it like the blade does so that it has higher range of maneuverability. 50k of pulling power is no joke. the whole concept is cool having the ability to do a wide range of recovery’s. Very interested to see how it does.

Amazing work! I think you guys need to install a fairlead lower on the plow though as a secondary point to run a winch cable, the one you have up top is pretty high and because of leverage could possibly flip the minotaur forward during a heavy pull. The lower you can get the fulcrum of the winch the better for big heavy pulls!

If you watch many of the off road pulls in mud you will find that the fairlead pulling upwards helps break the suction and having the elevation helps keep the winch line out of the rocks and dirt. It's designed right.

@@delbutler885 totally agree about having height to help pull out of the mud, but I think a perfect setup would have both options, a low fairlead for when you need that absolute most power possible especially when using a snatchblock, and the higher point for pulling out medium/lighter pulls that are in mud. Watching the fabrication and have seen a minimum of seven failure point's so far, having fabricated HGV recovery equipment for too many years to count, yes in the beginning we had failures and learnt, we had to build our gear as no one came even close to what was needed. A small hint buy a pneumatic drill compressor and a couple of drills, remove safety latch get a dozen spikes weld a heavy duty ring just below the pin stop, we used these by firing them into the ground and anchoring the tow trucks to them, i was on a job where an 100ton crane lost brakes on a 3degree hill he went into the sand and 200foot past into a rain sodden field, we had five trucks on the job and a closed road, the local recovery guys spent two days to no avail, then the Police got fed up overrode the next on list system and called us out. So even with all the trucks tied together to two of our 100ton winch trucks and still getting pulled instead of pulling it, so I cranked up the pneumatic compressor and myself and the operator fired ten spikes into the tarmac road, with the council official telling us we cant do that but the police chief overrode him as the road had been shut for four days and being a commuter route he wanted the job done, once everything was hooked up we started pulling 3inch's an hour in the beginning but job done and road opened in fourteen hours, so miss the job the fabrication the inventing adapting and never knowing what job and where we would be and the job, I have had to make parts to complete recoveries at the side of the road.

I hope you put some heavy duty shielding for the operator. If a strap or chain breaks it would really do some damage if it hits the cab.

I thought the same as Hans. And now I see it, he was right. {I know nothing about equipment} I did not realize that you cut your own steel in the shop. Awesome!!! Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all

With that much welding on material that thick, you should really step up to dual shield wire. But i'm sure it will hold just fine as is.
