I love Jennifer Garner. She just seems like she is a really nice well rounded person (I think she might be up there with Sandra Bullock of my favorite normalish celebs). Of course we can't tell that just by her interviews and stuff, but it's just a feeling I get. I loved that she just talked about food and didn't apply any moralization to it. It was just food and it seemed like she didn't eat to "diet" but to just fuel herself and her family with what she likes. It is refreshing.

as a fan with ADHD, thank you for being open about it. it’s inspiring to see others like me so productive, smart, functional and well spoken. i was diagnosed at 17, im 22 now. still feel like there’s a lot for me to uncover on how ADHD affects me and how best to manage it. good luck ❤

I have the same breakfast every morning, and I felt bad because I know you are supposed to switch things up, but I like it, it’s nutrient dense, and a smoothie is all I can handle with my ADHD meds. So thank you for clarifying that for some people eating the same breakfast is an act of self care. I also make sure my smoothie is a Hunger Crushing Combo! 😉

I have ADHD too and I think sometimes we fixate on a certain type of food/meals and then we'll get over it and try something else. I do try to make an effort to switch things up, but sometimes I can't stomach a food unless I'm in the mood for it.

As a naturally thin professional ballerina, I need to make sure I fuel my body (as much as I love all vegetables, cauliflower and broccoli have to wait until I’m done with my day - bloating while wearing a tutu is not fun!) properly. I have a very busy schedule and am a creature of habit so I eat similar meals until I get bored with them and then I change everything.

well that's simple, your body burns what it needs to get rid of in order, first is alcohol (not the glycogen from carbs), next is glucose (aka carbs, aka sugar.... this is why keto and low carb is so effective) lastly, since your body utilizes and depends on fat (the only thing not inflammatory on this list) it tries to preserve it till needed for energy...… without the wine you both kept out the extra calories as well as the bodies burn order

I was introduced to alcohol around the age of 15. That is when I tried my first alcoholic beverage - wine. Later on beer, sweet liquors, Baileys, ... I'm 26 now and I rarely drink anything, and there are a couple of reasons: A) I want to be a good role model for my future children. Although I never drank until I blacked out or wasn't in control of myself and my actions, I still want to install in them that what is the mainstream and popular (overconsumption of anything, in this case alcohol) is bad and that there are real and serious consequences B) I got bored. Sure, a glass of wine when dining out with my friends/husband once every few months or on vacation is fine, but it doesn't spark any particular joy. What sparks me joy, as much as it may sound weird to some, is when I taste a new and interesting flavour of infused (sparkling or regular) water. Whenever I see a new flavour, I have to order it. I'm like a kid in that sense 🤣 C) It disrupts my mind. My brain is on a dax-to-day basis sharp and 'in control' (except when I have migraines), but even after one drink I feel the heat in my face and like a small, yet noticeable fog is around my brain. Weird sensation. I am not drunk, I still know what I'm doing, but the feeling of focus somehow goes away. D) For some reason, I have noticed that after consumption I get dehydrated throughout the whole day, but especially at night. I always have a glass of water beside my bed and I take a sip or two if I have to, but whenever I consume any alcohol, regardless of its type/sweetness/alcohol %, I wake up multiple times to refill my glass. Those are my choices why I don't drink and if I do, I have one glass and that's where I stop.

Same experience with alcohol. I started drinking when I was 16, but I rarely drink now for the same reasons. I’m just 22, but I guess the process was “accelerated” for me. 1. I’m a runner and I work out daily - daily runs plus strength training and extra cardio 2. Unfortunately, I had a time when I drank way too often. When I was 18-19 and again when I was 20 for a brief period I drank several times a week, often until I lost control, even blacked out once. I don’t want to go back to that. But most of all, I don’t feel good drinking and a glass of wine or a nice cocktail once in a while (like every two months) is enough.

@Diana-qp2rw
@Diana-qp2rw Жыл бұрын
@@skoopman2675It’s not specifically for autistic people. I’m not autistic myself, but I have an autistic friend and I know she struggles with some food - especially veggies and fruit because even if it’s one kind of fruit or vegetable they all vary. I don’t know if that’s what’s typical for autistic people, but I’m sure many people would appreciate her approach to make a diet more nutritious despite such struggles. One suggestion I have (if you struggle with fruits and veggies, too) is making smoothies/smoothie bowls or puréed soups. Every bite will have the same taste and structure, I hear that makes it much easier.
@debbystragier2154
@debbystragier2154 Жыл бұрын
@@Diana-qp2rw you’re right. Smoothie and puréed stuff does it make it easier at least for me. But i’ve heard that its let’s nutritional when you blend things. Tbf autisme does look different for everyone so it’s kinda a hard topic to talk about, especially around diets. So I understand if Abbey can’t make a video about it.

We drink for occasions like anniversaries or birthdays and holidays like Halloween or Christmas. And so we would have a cocktail once or twice a month if we never let a single holiday or occasion go... but it comes out to like a dozen total in a year. Bc we have regular opportunities we dont feel the need to necessarily partake each time either...

I like how I feel without alcohol so much more than how much I enjoy drinking alcohol (& I really really enjoyed alcohol). I was picky about quality which does help a little bit but as someone with athletic goals and kids… it just doesn’t make my life better. And it’s absence does. AND the non-alcoholic beers are so amazing now, they’re just a delight to drink. I don’t need to drink them, I just like them. 😊

I blame alcohol for my parents’ cancers. They would always have a drink or two in the evening. I think that’s pretty typical. My mom died from breast cancer 2 years ago and my dad has terminal colon ca. I often wonder if moderate alcohol intake played a role. Now I look at my 3 little kids and living to see them grow up is so much better than an “adult drink” with supper. I still have an occasional glass of wine, but I think of it the same way I think of fast food. An enjoyable thing I have on occasion.

hey abbey i really enjoyed this video, I just wanted to tell you that wine actually does not contain anti-oxidants, or more precisely it does but they can be helpful only if we drank a tir (don't know if you use it in america but it's a really large quantity) of it. It is really important for me that people know this because i have been thaught this in school by specialists and doctors. Alcohol has a lot of myths and that is why it is so dangerous. I'm italian and in my country there's a really large production of wine and most of the people underestimate its danger, sorry for any mistakes but i think this is really important because alchohol is a DRUG but it is so normalized

Something that I'm struggling with on my intuitive eating journey for my disordered eating....is it really okay if I choose to not eat much? Like yesterday, all I had was some coffee and a squeezable fruit pouch around 10 a.m, a few handfuls of honey roasted peanuts around 2 p.m, and then nothing else until forcing down some semi-homemade nachos around 7 pm. My mood was also fairly low. I feel kinda bad that I did that, as I know my body needs nourishment, and my intuitive eating/HAES dietician and I were talking about this today, and she was really chill about this. She said that it was totally okay that I didn't eat much (although she agrees I need to eat SOMETHING each day), and she stated that it's okay if I'm not excited about eating, as sometimes, eating just isn't exciting. What do you think?

As to alcohol - as with all things - if you enjoy & tolerate alcohol well, use moderation. I want to point out that all but one of the famed 'blue zones' consume alcohol daily. I am not suggesting that it's the 'secret sauce' at all, however, it's equally clear that regular alcohol consumption (mostly wine, beer & very little spirits) does not hinder these people's health. It would be unthinkable for the folks of Icaria & Sardinia to not have their daily wine & raku! I think that the UK, & North America have very disordered approaches to alcohol, and frankly a rather toxic & stressful culture - I think that goes a long way to explaining any correlation to alcohol consumption & negative/poor health outcomes.

Fasting once a year is not intermittent fasting. Also, every religion promotes fasting and have rules regarding food to be consumed. And those religions are thousands of years older than Islam.

@@canesugar911 we don’t fast once a year. Ramadan is mandatory fasting and in itself is 30 consecutive days. On top of that There’s many fasts throughout the year that are considered non-mandatory but highly recommended, called sunnah (meaning the way of the prophet). For example mondays and Thursdays are considered sunnah. There’s three months in each month called the “white days” that are sunnah, usually in the middle of each month. Lastly, the first 10 days of the hajj (religious pilgrimage) are sunnah if you are not attending the hajj. As well as two days in muharram (the first month in the Islamic year). On top of that, any thing you do outside of those specific days mention above is also considered voluntary and sunnah. Also good for those religions. Islam itself is a continuation of the previous two abrahamic religions.

@@canesugar911 fasting even one day is considered intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting is just avoiding food for Specific set hours. Which is exactly what Muslims do.

What’s your point? Christians fast, too, and excessive drinking is also not very Christian, though there’s no “no alcohol” rule in Christianity. It’s also a bit strange to compare eating according to your region with eating to be healthy. Different reasons, different methods. The Islamic fasting, for example, is not healthy, intermittent fasting can be.

You give me almond mom vibes but constantly critiquing healthy meals. Not every meal needs to have protein. Sometimes you just want some greens.

I stopped eating meat 2015 when I had cancer and suddenly could not tolerate the taste. Then I lost most of my teeth this year. Had to eat no chewing. I have snap in implants now BUT they will not last my lifetime due to poor gums. When this happens to anyone we appreciate and MISS healthy food we can chew.
