Sucks, doesn't it. Trick I learned is mke note of eye color, forces you to look at the person you're talking with. Also understand that most people perceive less than 10% of what you think they do. Just be yourself and let others sort it out. When I really get lost I simply state "my apologies, I'm a little unsure what to say" and laugh off....

How dismissive and insulting to the community you're talking about. "All you need to know is that one is weird but fine and the other is weird, stupid, and can't talk." Really? If this is how future doctors are encouraged to think of this spectrum, no wonder the stigma is so strong and understanding so absent.

@@SaraCozyDrawings there's ways to go about it though. Yes, these individuals may have a low IQ, fair enough. But labeling them as 'stupid' causes unnecessary harm to the other person. Why would you feel the need to say that to them? Their life is already hard enough. As someone who has Asperger's, I've learned to utilize my empathy and compassion. It's not an excuse to be an asshole. I get the sense that you excuse your behavior because of your condition.

You are incorrect. Some of us with Asperger's have a difficult time in school because we need instructions to be not too vague, but our college instructors don't listen. Due to that, it is a struggle to keep straight A grades. And, we have some of those same repetitive behaviours and stimming to help through anxiety. As of 2013, the DSM-5 states Aspergers as being of the autism spectrum disorder. Please read up and please correct the Medical board if they are teaching you med students, differently with misinformation.

This video was made just two years after the DSM 5 was released, it would take a while for changes to reach psychologists and psychology degree programs. It would take even longer to reach medical professionals, or sometimes not at all. It's probable that this is why autism and Asperger's are referred to here in a matter closer to the idea of people diagnosed during the pre-DSM 5 period.

Speaking better than most of your preschool can also be a diagnosis criterion for autism aka neurodivergence with deficits. You diverged from neurotypical norms at a young enough age to be diagnosed with a disability therefore it was autism. Aspergers is usually diagnosed later in life, not because you're just older, but because the symptoms are harder to recognize in childhood and usually manifest clearly around your late teen/young adult years. Aspergers and autism are categorically different at a fundamental level, and this videos oversimplification can't possibly come close to understanding the nuance between these extremely varied and difficult to comprehend disorders. Although viewing Aspergers as a mild divergence from normalcy and autism as a deficiency of sorts is a rather accurate generalization.

One big difference is that Asperger's Syndrome is NO LONGER in the DSM-V. I got my diagnosis 5 years ago. It was called ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or High-Functioning Autism. The last one is very misleading, as my level of functioning varies depending on a variety of uncontrollable factors. And I'm not intellectually "normal." The normal, or average, IQ is 100, and I am way above that.

Interesting, I'm about ~130 , read exceptionally fast and can process and retain large amounts of data Yet when someone talks to me I can very easily misunderstand and can be naive and "slow" 🤷‍♂️ Additionally however, I also have no "Inner voice" or "internal monologue" which appears to be the predominant means of thinking for 85%+ of people. Instead I think "visually" and process thought conceptually (A train of thought being constricted into a verbal narration seems low bandwidth to me) 😅 So I wonder how much of my conversion skills are affected by Asperger's and how much is by my need to convert and process what someone is saying into visual thought, and if there is a correlation between Asperger's and the primary mode of cognition

Aspbergers syndrome is on the lower end of the autism spectrum. Generally, people with aspbergers syndrome are capable of greater mental feats than you could possibly consider. For instance, not to brag, I have written about 10 books, and won awards for my writing, and I am only 15. Also, people with aspbergers tend to be capable of incredible musical feats. They have tendency to have terrible handwriting, but are good at typing. They tend to be incredible with computer programming and software development and enjoy tinkering a lot. People with aspbergers are very good at math, and.can learn math and take that information in quicker than the average student. It is harder for some to pay attention, as lots of them with aspbergers syndrome are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and other deficits. I have studied this heavily over the last three years or so.

Another things different is, there different between hf autism and asperger syndrome. Hf autism still have communication problem and delay development but they can go to school and do exames like other kids. They still talk but dont deeply understand sometimes. But asperger syndrome, they develop like other mainstream kids but they just have problem with some behaviour and have poor social skill.

Asperger's does involve deficits wtf are you talking about??? It's just not a language or general IQ deficit. As someone with level 1 asd (so basically asperger's) I have deficits in Theory of Mind, some types of memory, facial processing, and had delays in motor/coordination and probably some visuo-spatial delays too. My areas of functioning literally ranged from 2nd to 98th percentile when measured, with every category in-between. I'm terrible at communicating orally, and I know of many people with asperger's who are the same way so you got that wrong too.

If you need Med School to be made easy, drop out now, please. Autism is a spectrum so each individual has distinct symptoms and strengths. Asperger's is no longer an official diagnosis, but it was distinguished from autism by a lack of delays and difficulties in communicating. It was added to the autism spectrum along side of High Function Autism, not replacing it. Many symptoms are similar but neuropathy is thought to be different, possibly GABA-ergic inhibition issues in Autism that are not present in Asperger's. Aspies and High Functioning Autistics have strengths and deficits that make them atypical but they often have the ability to appear typical or be atypical in wonderful ways. To have some basis for identifying those of us on the spectrum you could watch some self advocacy videos by adult Aspies and hfa's. Also you should see autistic perspectives on ABA videos or webpages, which will probably show symptomatic children in "treatment" and give you the views of adult survivors of ABA. You made it to the end of this comment, so you may have what it takes to be a doctor, like perseverance and compassionate interest.

As someone with Asperger's I'm curious as to why the Greek name of Jesus, IESOUS CHRISTOS anagrams to OSIRIS SET CHOUS (Osiris and Set were Egyptian Gods, chous means " a measure of capacity equal to 12 cups"). I'm even more curious as to why the Greek name of Saint Peter, SIMWN PETROS anagrams to MORTWS PENIS. I'm inclined to suspect that someone concocted these names. Reading Plutarch's version of the Osiris-Set myth leads me to suspect his (or one of his followers) involvement in the origins of Christianity.

There is nothing wrong with me..i just communicate through the higher self more..ex..negative and positive. The more loving we are, the more love we get back..unless were dealing with someone with negative beliefs. The world and nature are perfect..its humans that do not understand what we are and how we work.
