I tried to replicate every shot that Pro Bright made on the golf course. i thought I could do it but there are some serious gaps in the game, when comparing to a lady tour pro.

Exactly. I'm 52 and I've been playing since I was 13. I don't always make the smartest course management decisions, but I've said for a long time that this game should be played from green to tee, not the other way around. That, and the player should think of course management in terms of billiards; it's always about the next shot, not the one you're on.

My favourite thing was how she thinks about where to aim- she plays towards her confidence, not away from her miss. On hole one she said the left off the green was safer so it gives her more confidence to aim that way, not that she knows her miss is a slice and so thinks about mitigating the damage from that.

I really like these episodes where you bring in a lady pro and hear how they manage a course. This video was great it shows where you should copy a pro and where you shouldn’t. They are so talented that always copying would be a mistake. I just don’t have there skill, I am best to leave myself full shots when I can or easier chips.

What part of Brights game do I want. That approach game, 100%. Confidence on every shot inside 150 yards is the only thing keeping me from single digits. But that full body/ chest rotation off the tee with the driver is a very close 2nd.

Course management is generally the biggest difference when you start getting to those lower handicaps. Knowing where to miss is almost more important than what you actually should hit
@downeybill
@downeybill 2 жыл бұрын
like when you start playing pool that way, not just making one shot and risk leaving yourself literally "behind the 8 ball" because you didn't have the imagination and forethought to anticipate what to do AFTER you make a shot. Except that in golf it's planning for a miss not a hit.

Thanks for this video, this is great comparison. This is probably why I been watching a lot of more Japan LPGA on why sometimes they hit so far and easy for them to score birdie. Which in my mind its alot more comparable to how I should play the game and score. I can't seem to brake 80, nearest I got to it was 84. Also I really like and appreciate those videos where you subject's are like how to break certain score. Lastly, been watching "NotAScratchGolfer" to where I wonder how he still manage to score low even his hits are not going so well on the course.

I played as a low handicap in high school against a girl who later played the LPGA. She rarely ever missed a shot. The only reason I could compete with her was I had 80 yards on her off the tee. This was way back when there weren't girl teams. She was the only girl playing. By best high school accomplishment was beating her in a playoff: I got lucky--it was sudden death and a par 5. I hit D, 4iron and two putted for birdie. She hit D, 3wood, and wedged to six feet, but missed the putt. I really liked her and REALLY respected her ability. I had no illusions about the contest being entirely fair.

Late to this, but main thing I learned is that pros know their respective games so well, they're able to play within themselves and know when to take a risk. As an occasional recreational player, I have less of a sense of my strengths and weaknesses (and lack consistency, of course), and find myself trying to play the ideal shot more often than not, as opposed to the more reasonable "safer" shot.

Learned this playing with a Berkley Women's golf team member a while back, she a ~5'10" Korean. NEVER outdrove her, she comfortable from whatever tees. She cleaned my clock, then next outing the course GM asked if I wanted my ass kicked again. Of course! But playing again, her weakness was short around the greens showed (my strength) and she was super paying attention (I mean laser focused) as I holed out or tapped in from off green lies. Lost track of her but hoping she did well!

I caddied a few times on the Epson (formerly Symetra) Tour. One of the things I always took away (you'd think I'd have it engrained by now) was how in tune the pros are with their swings. If I hit a bad shot, I'm thinking on the next similar shot how to adjust my swing or grip or stance. Trust your practice.

My wife always says the big advantage I have is on the 2nd shot to the green. Even though the driving tees give her extra distance, most times my drive (if it's not in the woods), is either even or just ahead. Now second shot she is taking out her hybrids when I might be hitting an 8 iron. What I find interesting with Bright is she used a 6-iron on a 156 Yd shot, which is my strong 9 or choked up 8 iron, however my 60 wedge I use for 60 yards and she uses it for 70 yards. I guess height must play into it as I hit 'lawn darts', my ball looks like it climbs high and deep and then comes straight down.(we know it's an arc, but that is the perception of the shot) It was a really strong windy day this past weekend and my wife was controlling her ball way better than me as the wind was really taking my height and throwing it all over the place. Thanks for the video. I like the metal side of the game more than the physical so this is something I can get a lot out of. I do know the big difference between any tour pro, male or female is when I'm inside 40 yards. They will almost always make 2 and I'll be 3 to 4, I like rarely make a 2.

I use to try and go as far as I could to get closer to par 5s but would be leave my with half and 3/4 shots. Now I do play to my go to yardage which is 85-115 Those are my green light scoring yards. If I can get a oar 5 to under 220 yards I can try and get a 3 hybrid there. Which I’m comfortable with if there’s no danger. But that thinking of laying up to a good yardage has made me go from shooting in the 90s to about 14-16 over. My best score was two weeks ago when I went +4 in the first 9 holes. I wasn’t able ti finish that round because of work

Matt, biggest difference to me is her posture. She has better angles in the swing which gives her the edge of consistency you're lacking. Your mannerisms are more lackadaisical. Her thoughts & intent are more structured. Better posture leads to better balance which leads to better tempo. This is evident on your steep approach shots. The type of divot tells the tale. Great video with all the graphics. Lots of editing and the subtitles help. Cute girl helps too ;)
