you said it. it also really helped that they guy that made the video explained it right to the point. learning in class can be such a pain when some professors starts talking about unrelated things or stretch out whatever they're trying to explain for too long that i stop paying attention, either doze off or just start daydreaming lmao.

@1:17 there is a little confusion. If a slab supported by two opposite beams,it bends either way,I.e to the shorter or longer according to where the support provided. But if supported by all sides and the slab is one way it only bends to the shorter direction.
@shivanshushubham70075 жыл бұрын
Check yourself... Tear a piece of paper and hold it by two opposite faces of shorter side of paper.. Ask someone to drop a pencil from some height.. you will see the direction of bending.... Repeat by holding all the four sides with help of your friend and ask someone to drop the pencil now... You will see the difference in bending directions... Hope this helps.

Yes Dawit ur right. So if a one way slab is supported by beam on the opposite short span & free on both the longer span the slab will bend on the longer part b/c the load will go to the beams so the reinforcement bar will be placed on the longer dxn. in this case & vice versa.

I think you made one mistake. The image of one way slab you have showed in your case, there are two supports and long span is being delfected. Span will be long side (instead of short side). Please check that span should be the length between two support and it must not always be the short side. Therefore, slab will deflect along long side (not along short side) in that case and main steel will be provided along long side.

Is it possible to convert single story house into double story without destroying the lower part of the house I mean is it possible to construct a slab without breaking the house
@comprehendnature24044 жыл бұрын
You have to take into consideration whether the foundation is deep enough and whether the columns are strong enough for a second floor. Maybe you can build columns outside the house but at the corner of the wall enough columns to support a second floor without touching the existing first floor.

2:21 can anyone explain why the main steel is distributed in that way W direction and not the other L ?It would be more plausible to distribute it the other way because the cracs will show up in theW direction and the L way placed steel will take the excess stress
@gikaradi87934 жыл бұрын
@thesix107 hi !! thats what im saying .i mean the less deflection direction should not take the main steel which is needed in the other direction with the greater deflection ,tensile stress and forces
