Christina if you do a part 2 on this subject would like to hear a comparison, in your opinion of the differences between teachers in Norway and the U.S. if any. Very informative video by the way, you were pretty much spot on describing a typical American high school. 👩‍🏫🎓🏑⛹️🏌🏻🏊‍♀️ 🇺🇸🇳🇴

American schools were much more regimented in the past. In the 1960s there were far fewer electives, and things like art classes or psychology were mostly in upper middle class suburban schools. And city schools didn't have anywhere near the school spirit programs or other social things. There was some of that, but not what I see on videos today.

We also have like separate graduation parties with like families and friends and things like for my sisters was red and black themed for her school and we had an ice cream truck and a photo booth rented so we could have a good farewell party with our family before she leaves for college/university.

We do have kindergarten before 1st grade in America so in reality we also do 13 years of school. 😀
@ChristinaWedvik

Yeah, but we also have kindergarden kind of, so I had a year left of school while ly american friends who were as old went off to college. but I’ve found out the american bachelor is 4 years, while norwegian only 3, so I guess that’s where the difference catches up!

Being able to select more fun classes in 11th grade (USA) is entirely dependent on your success and grades in 9th and 10th grade. Most Students don't have easy classes in 11th grade. In fact, it tends to be your most difficult year as far as rigorous studies and schoolwork goes. 12th grade is typically when everyone takes thier easy classes.

The American highschool cut off date for a school year is around the middle of august my birthday is august 11th and I’ve always been older than my class I’m about to an 18 year old senior while a lot of people will turn 18 during the year so the class of 23 me has a lot of 04 kids and 05 kids

Wow! This was super helpful, but I'm still kinda confused about how u can be in a class with freshman wen ur a senior lmao but why?
@ChristinaWedvik
@ChristinaWedvik 4 жыл бұрын
Apparently that’s how it worked on my schools 🤷‍♀️ Espescially the first one which was a super hard school, so every senior had hard classes, and I just wanted to chill and have fun, so that was the freshman stuff 🙄😅

@9:20 Do you mean you have block schedules? Like the same classes Monday Wednesday Friday. Then classes you take on Tuesday and Thursday? We have block schedules in some schools in America
@ChristinaWedvik
@ChristinaWedvik Жыл бұрын
Nope, i experienced that block system a few weeks in the US, but in Norway every single day is different from each other :)

Går du studiespesialisering på vgs? Ble utvekslings året ditt godkjend? Fikk du penger av Lånekassen eller betalte dere hele beløpet selv?
@ChristinaWedvik
@ChristinaWedvik 4 жыл бұрын

How I found this video: 1 - was playing Death Stranding on steam. In the game I found a memory chip that showed the film "Thelma" 2 - KZbind "Thelma" trailer, basically its a Norwegian lesbian high school student with powers. 3 - saw that Norwegian high schools looked cooler or more elite. Like the high school in the film looked good. Because I'm American and American public high schools look like cheap crap :D 4 - wanted to see how Norwegian high schools looked like. I will Google Earth Norwegian high schools. Christina, if you see this comment. STAY AWAY from America. STAY AWAY! here in America now boys are girls and girls are boys now :( women are men and men are women, its called being "woke" its insane. America is cancerous in the brain and the body. We were never like this before and the future is grim. They're "teaching" us that theres no difference between male and female gender. . .which makes no sense -_-
